So I managed to find a model 70 featherweight 270 Winchester which have been looking for. What scope would you put on this to keep it svelte????? Talley l/w rings of course.
Leupold VX3i....Vortex Razor 1" scope......Swaro Z3 or Z5
Gloss M8 4X loopy seems appropriate.....
Might as well use low conetrols too!
Surely you didn’t go buy a .270?
My 270 mountain rifle has a Leupold vx-6 2-12 with a Boone and Crockett reticle. It's more than enough for anything we've tried. From woods hunting to open field kills to 450 yds, I never found myself wishing for anything more.
I have had several on mine.. It is not a feather wt. I use it for game and coyotes. a Leupold 4-12 seems perfect!
I have a Leupold 6x36 on my .270 Featherweight.
Straight power Leupold 6x36 M8 or FX2 your choice

I’ve had an M8 4x, Schmidt and Bender 6x and now have a Kaps 1.5x6 coming for my P64 FWT 270 Win.
I’d say it just depends what you want to do with it honestly. The straight 6 was too much of a good thing for me in the Northeast but perfect in the more open ground of the west.
Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 with green standard duplex. 13oz, excellent duplex w/subtle green dot, good clicks. 1” tube. Comes with bikini covers and neoprene.
Swarovski Z3 3-10x42 with the 4A reticle….been my favourite on my 270 FWT
But mounted in Talley screw lock detachable rings
Nice buck! and Nice rifle.
What year FWT is that with the thick red pad? I have 2 ,one in 6.5x55 1986. and a 7x57 1982 both with thin red pads. Just curious.

Thanks
It’s a newer BACO rifle, I just swapped out the black pad for a red Winchester pad…also Williams bottom metal and the plastic grip cap was replaced with steel one. Fantastic rifle and my last one.
4.5 x14 Leupold would be perfect in my opinion
I’ve been happy with a Zeiss 3x12. Optics are great!
I have a Leupold 6x36 on my .270 Featherweight.
Yep not to big on fixed power but it just seemed to “fit”.
Scopes I’ve had on various 270’s:
2-7x33
6x36
2.5-8x36
3-9x40
Any of them work, and I’ve never found the need for anything more than 10x at the upper range.
Surely you didn’t go buy a .270?
Yup. We got everything else.
I just bought a vortex viper 2.5-10 x44 on midway for $229 on sale from 409. 30 mm tube
I have a Leupold VX-5 HD 3-15x44 on my 270. I like it a lot. It covers both ends of the spectrum well.
4x16x40 on all of my deer rifles. Elites
I think a classic Winchester should be paired with a Leupold . Mine wears an older Vx-III 3.5-10
Leupold 6x36 for mine, has been for years too.
Leupold VX 3. 2.5x8x36 on mine
Tell me about the cartridge cuff on your rifle.

Beautiful buck and great pic.
Tell me about the cartridge cuff on your rifle.
It from 7x Leather out of Montana. Does some nice work. Toughest build cartridge cuff I’ve come across

Thank you. I’ll take a look.
I'd go with the swaro 3-9x36.
My coyote calling partner has a Leupold 2.5-8 on his Featherweight 22-250 and loves it. When I gave my dad a Featherweight in 270 it was wearing a Japan built Tasco 2-7, he killed a lot of deer up in northern WI with it. My Model 70 222 Rem calling rifle wore a Meopta 1.5-6x40ish never felt the need for mor than that and my old Model 70 in 7mm RM did just fine in northern MN with a 1-4x20mm. With the new 2-12x40ish scopes I'd look hard at one, I just equipped my now 20P calling rifle with one and have another in a box waiting for a barrel and action to arrive, pretty much the best of both worlds.

For a M70/.270 Win.?
Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8x36mm in Talley Lightweight 1 inch, M70/Montana Model 1999, Extra Low mounts...

I have a Leupold 6x36 on my .270 Featherweight.
That’s a photoshop picture.
There is zero ways to hell that you own such a small pew-pew.
Try again, and this time lean into the 460 Wby Mag.
Merry Late Christmas, elkh.

+1 be sure to get the 4A reticle. IMO the best set and forget 1" scope.
Lots of pretty stuff here.. Nice deer, Nice hand held energy conversion tools, converts chemical energy to kinetic energy...
Early 70’s Sako 270 with Leupold 4.5 x14

http://www.7xleather.com/Alas, I think he's out of business. Phone is disconnected, and no responses to emails. That's a disappointment because I really like the cuff. I haven't seen anything similar, only the lever gun cuffs.
270's are good. Just the other day I thought about building one. the idea hasn't left me yet.
Crazy gun nut.
Swarovski z3 3-10 or Leupold vx3hd 2.5-8x36
Mine wear Leupold 2.5-8 or 3.5-10's.
One does wear a Nightforce 4-14 SHV so I can do some long range playing.
Mine wears a 3.5-10X Leupold.
2.5-10x32/42 NXS or 3-10x42 SHV. You'll pay a minor weight penalty for mechanical durability/repeatability.
After using a Z3 the SHV is boat anchor…last one season and down the road it went and back to a Z3
Mine wears a 3.5-10X Leupold.
Sweet rifle & nice conetrols too!
Well fellas, I did a massive scope search in my inventory and forgot I had this one. Leupold lightweight 3x9x33 mm. I don't recall the correct model but it does have click adjustments. I used it a long time ago on my TV Compass 30-06 and served me well. I mounted it on Talley lightweight 1inch low rings. The whole package handles like a rapier. All in at 7.7 lbs.
Talley rings on a long action 70 with that scope? Is the front base a reversible type? How is the eye relief on 9x?
I've used a scope like that on short action 700s, I can't imagine getting along with it on a long 70.
Yup reversable. No issues
I like the fixed 6x for more of a classic scope anywhere from the Leopold and SS to pricier options to
Athlon 2x12x42 or something similar. That is what my son put on his 270 Tikka and really likes it.
Took a Leupold 2.5 X 8 B&C off a 270 Win, that would not zero after it came back from Leupold and put on a Vortex Viper 3 X 9 that zeroed in 2 shots and has held its zero on a very accurate LH Rem 700 in 270 Winchester.
I was going to suggest a scope, but when you mentioned Talley Lightweights I realized that there was no point

I have a rifle that I got from my late best friend’s widow and while I appreciate the robustness of some of the big tactical scopes, they are just not a good fit on this rifle. In a 1” hunting scope, I’d be looking at the 2-10 Tract Toric. Another option mentioned above would be one of the Nightforce SHVs.
