For likely 90 percent of users petzl is the nuts.
Simple enough to use
Durable enough to last
Versatile enough to be handy
And they're not too spendy
$1 dollar cap bill thing from Walmart
Works great for cutting bait, tying up rigs at night
What are you using it for?
The last few years Sams club has a 2 pack of 300 lumen lights.
Uses 3 aaa each. Comes with Duracell.
Start off @$20.
By clearance tine can get them for $9-14.
Aaa batteries are the kicker.
Cr123 are expensive Used to get em bulk for $1 each. It sure what they are now.
I use Zebralight. I also have Petzl and Black Diamond, Zebralight kicks their butt in every aspect.
Want it for Walking to stands in the dark, looking for lost deer or pigs.
I really like the Fenix brand. Lots of models to choose from. Battery life has been very good.

Not a headlamp, but a 20 volt Dewalt led lights work excellent for trailing - tracking at night. You'll give out before the battery.
Streamlight Double Clutch is my favorite . Rechargeable and easy to turn on and off wearing gloves .
petzl, black diamond, fenix
I like one with red light option.
get one that takes AAA batteries
none of them are heirlooms, they will eventually need to be replaced

Probably similar to, or the same as what Costco sells.
They are very good lights - 3 intensity levels and focusable.
I like my Zebralight with the 18650 battery.
I've done away with my head lamps. I wear Panther Vision Power Caps. The lights are built in the brim. You don't need a separate headlamp and uses Cr32 batteries. I still carry a 6" Maglight in my pocket for extra lighting in case I need to track something. I have 3 of these.

Does each customer get their very own nuke missile?
Sans club and Costco and probably others have 2 it 3 packs of pretty decent lights. They have all the best features and decent battery life.
In my experience they are all heavier than I like. We've got some placed around the house for emergency use.
And I have not used any of the super lights such as Zebra or Fenix. I have been completed happy with the $25-35 lights from Petzl.
The Petzl Tikka has very good battery life. And can be had in rechargeable form.
I use 3 AAAs each month in my primary light. I wear it most of the time I'm awake at home.
I will leave it turned on low, for a night light probably 4-5 nights a month when I have stuff going on overnight and may need to get up and go quickly.
It has a good red light capability which can be used without fumbling or ruining night vision by going through the white light options first. That's big with me.
And it's got 350L of white light on tap, which projects out enough that I can keep an eye on the dogs anywhere in my acre yard.
At the end of the month the batteries are still quite useable, but diminished enough that I can tell the difference with a new set.
Black Diamond works for me.

My Zebra' is a few years old. It's a H600w II, it puts out around 1100 lumen on high.
Now it looks like they are up to Gen IV, putting out 1600 lumen.
Just got a 3 pack of rechargeable LED from COSTCO.
One headlamp and two clip on lights with swivel heads.
Impressed so far and it was $10 off for the set at the time.
Multiple settings of intensity and color.
When I saw the title of the thread, I figured, go to a coon hunting site and see what coon hunters are using these days. Guys who spend all night in the woods with their dogs know what the best lights are. When I used to do it, we oneād wet cell, 4 volt Wheat lights... expensive, but they lasted all night (like I used to.) I figured technology must have caught up with tycoon hunting crowd, so I looked. Thereās a brand called āBossā that looks popular. They run about $250 to $350, less than we paid for Wheat lights , adjusted for inflation.
i don't need one for use on a space walk
I use an older Zebralight H60011 at work nearly every day and have not seen one better. I also use EagleTac 18650 because they're top notch batteries and fit in my torch perfectly. Other brand 18650 batteries can be a very tight fit in my torch.

Yeah - my zebra light band is a crusty dirty stinky mess. Love it...

Depends on how you are going to use it. For frog gigging, I like one that has a beam that can be focused down really tight. For walking back from the stand, I want more of a floodlight than a spotlight. I ended up with a Coast 615 lumen with an adjustable beam and 3 power settings. Not too heavy, decent battery life. Waterproof.

Actually that's a replacement headband, the original was thrown out years ago. I also have another new spare which I'll use pretty soon. You buy spare headbands from Zebralight quite cheaply.
Donāt know about ābestā, but I just bought this rechargeable, 13000 lumen contraption off Amazon for $14.99. About four steps better than the stuff Iāve been buying. Worked good loading the truck last Wednesday, no idea on how it will hold up, but this sucker is BRIGHT. And heavy....
