My Leatherman PST II that has been with me for a lot of years, ran away.

What is the latest and greatest in multi-tools?
Leatherman Wave.

My Wave decided to stay on the mountain last year. I have Gerber now.It is about twice as heavy.I been having a hard time coughing up $100 for another Leatherman
I've carried the Wave for many years now. It has literally gotten me out of some tight situations. I will go nowhere without it.
I'm going on my third Leatherman Charge Ti and have a new one on the shelf for when the current one gets lost.

Had this last one for a good 4-5 years so I'll probably lose it today or tomorrow....

I carry the Surge... much bigger, but once you switch you will never look back

Hell of a useful tool... REAL Bosch hacksaw and bone blades.

The size took about one day to fall in love with.
Another +1 for the Surge.
Check out the SOG's Wayne.

SOG Multi Tools.

I beg to differ. I have lost more leathermans than I can remember. I've tried several different models, but I always come back to the Wave. Just bought another one last week, can't believe the damn things are a hundred bucks now. I had a Surge, and didn't like it. too big in the pocket.
We all got issued gerbers for OIF 1.
Pretty handy tool to unfugg wpns with.
Attach it to your molle vest.
Always handy when everyone has one.
Had ta take a pic.
This one has "cred".
Lol!!!

I have a Gerber too, it's more robust as to the pliers I think for sure. But I like the knife on the outside of the Wave. Opens as easy as a pocket knife. I've gutted and dressed quite a few critters with my Waves. For a one tool does all it's hard to beat.
It's all personal preference and what works.

I hate losing gear.
Feels like a hollow spot in your mind at times.
You can also order a pocket clip and lanyard to prevent loss.

For those of you that have Gerber or thinking about Gerber keep in mind that they are supporters of anti hunting group Oregon Wild.

My unit bought everyone SOG Powerlocks before OIF III. Mine went back to Iraq in 08 and Afg in 11. Still have it, even though I lost at least one knife on every deployment.

Losing schit sucks.

LOL!!!
I would consider paying a little extra for a chip or tracking device on a Leatherman.

Just duct tape it to your smart phone.

I do, but often switching pants and whatnot I just put it in my pocket. I also keep a handkerchief in my left ass pocket. Been handy lately when I forget a mask and have to use my snot rag. laugh
What happened to braindead? He would always have multitools for sale at good prices.
Check out the leatherman rebar also....

Cheaper but smaller. I carry one almost every day at work.

Has the replaceable cutters like the wave+.
Still have my 20+ year old original and couple newer spares. Don't know how I got through life before Leatherman.
PST devotee here.

They have em for like $90 like new on eBay.

A good excuse to visit pawn shops and gun shows.

I’ve lost maybe five or six over the years. Ain’t lost any since I started keeping it on the bicycle in the tool kit, I guess I’m more likely to remember to put it back.

Keep a bigger Leatherman in compartment between the seats of my car, gotta move it to my truck now. Have a third in my flinter shooting box, with all the other assorted BP accessories. Seems I lose em much less if I treat em as a tool rather than a personal accessory.
I carry a cross draw knife and Leatherman on my belt at all times. I've never lost one yet but gave one to the TSA in N.O. sure makes a person feel stupid.

It sure does. Right now I can't find my Snap On 12" crescent wrench. That's a mofo for sure.

Me too. The joints on mine are getting pretty loose and the sheath recently wore through so it's not on my belt anymore. Been looking for a replacement sheath but apparently the original type are not available. sick

Jerry
May have an extra sheath. Will get back to you if I do.

I only carry a Wave.

Because I only have a pattern for the Wave.

This plus two. I remember Sambos post about this model and I remember it being orange weather factory or not wanting to lose it.

When the wifey got a new rig the last year a Subaru no less I upgraded her multitool to a Charge Ti from the 30 year old Gerber that she was using. The newer model is mucho better with repaceable cutters in the plyer side.

Every time I'm in the passenger side she wants to see her Leatherman to make sure I haven't switched it.

Had a Gerber for a long time that I was perfectly happy with. Finally left it at the range one day and it found a happy new home. Replaced it with a Wave on sale at a good price a couple weeks later.

I'm more upset about the Rat 1 in D2 I dropped somewhere last week. Great EDC knife. Can't find one anywhere. AUS 8 yes. D2 no.
These days i buy older used keatherman tools off ebay. For me, the vehicles, the wife and kids. Leatheman tools for all is doable if you get them for 1/3 retail.

My preference is the old supertool. Once rewired a uhaul car hauler trailer with one outside atlanta.

I carry the old Wave when I am climbing or out in the woods. If I'm working at a job site I usually have a Crunch.

That's what I say. I wonder how people make it without a Gerber etc., a knife, and a small crescent wrench on their person at all times
Victorinox Swiss Tool for me. I have a couple of leathermans and a SOG paratool floating about as well, but the Vicky gets by far the most use.
I use a Skeletool. Pliers, two screw driver heads, and a decent blade on the outside. For cattle branding it is all I need to castrate, change bent needles, and tighten loose screws.

I have some others too. An old Super Tool, a Surge, and a Gerber of some kind. The Skeletool is, for me, the best for what I do.
One can feel the love for Leatherman tools, however, thanks for the other suggestions.
