Don’t you have to be sitting in front of your commodore 64 running on linux, with a hummingbird feeder and golf channel on mute in the kitchen? Perusing the latest satellite launch schedules?
I've also noticed that as you age, you begin to realize that you really are getting "too old for that daredevil chit". Must be that wisdom of old age stuff you hear about.

I like to tell people that I'm writing checks that my body can't cash no more.

Earned with concussions, bruises, stitches, and the like. You know - positive reinforcement.
The ranch I hunt in SE Montana does not allow us any 4 wheelers. Slow side by sides are O.K. No Quads. They have seen far too many broken arms on 4 wheelers. Their ranch, their rules.

I have 3 4-wheelers. I wrecked Sweetness (yes I name them) drinking too much gin and tonic. My fault. Big Red tried to kill me in Colorado, sold that Bitch.
In my limited experience, you need a 2x4 to get the heeler's attention. But a GOOD heeler is the best dog in the world when handling aggressive range cows.
On the other hand, I have seen range cows run a B/C out of the corral.
H&S, plan B involved backtracking and going down the hill in another area. It was safer and I'm all about safety.
I
Hanco, it looked much scarier in real life!
Las, rolling my ATV down the hill would not cause me to smile.
Griz, what can I say, straight up puzzed out...
To tell you the truth Sam, that looked like that was one of those times when the picture doesn't do the subject justice. I knew it had to be worse than it looked.
On the topic of Man From Snowy River, I happened to see that movie in Bozeman where they screened it before general release. At that time there was at least twice as much "rough riding" as there was in general release. And when I say rough, I'm not kidding. It was impressive. I'm not surprised at injury to horse and man although I hadn't heard that. The next time I saw the movie I wondered where all the riding disappeared to.
Whiptail, that pasture(BLM) is big and you can cover 2-3x as much country on a 4 wheeler versus a horse. It does have some rough areas and some trees so my buddy and I figured next time it might not be a bad idea to have someone horseback.
FWIW it took 6 of us two days to gather and move out of it.
I put about 60 miles on the 4 wheeler over the 2 days.
Griz, I just watched it again and it really does look like it would not be a big deal driving down. Real life though is way different.
Last summer a guy was out helping and had a newer 700 Griz, tried climbing a hill way less steep than the one I chickened out and didn't make it.
Luckily he didn't get hurt but the machine rolled several times and needed a couple grand in repairs.

The cross might just be the best of both worlds.
ID, I was wrong, blue heeler and Australian shepherd.
People over in SD have them. They'd probably be good dogs but I've never been around an Aussie.
LC, I talked to Rancho a week or two ago. He had a bunch of shoulder work done and won't be up to blast cock this Fall.
Aussie X huh, never been around an aussie working cattle. Cousins had one for a pet, that don't count.
I got a cute little aussie bitch pup just before the wife and I were married. She was smart as a whip. (the dog, wife was foolish enough to keep me around for almost 35 years now).
Anyway, by the time the pup was old enough to be physically able to run and jump, I had taught her to jump up at the snap of my fingers and nip Momma on the butt. Yea, she still married me and kept me around. shaking head here.
Momma and I were in town at the time and really had no proper place for a cow dog. So I gave the pup to a lady I worked with who had horses and rode for cattle with friends. She said the dog worked out well.
Been meaning to axe what real montanans thought of Yellowstone soap op......not surprised at all by your verdict sam.......cute cooler by the way......is that a standard yeti color or did you have to special order? Kevin C would approve not doubt.
mebbe I just put in a word with the Golden State Fish and Wildlife Dept to repopulate the State with grizzle bears, seeing as how the dangs things are on our flag and Seal.
That way I won't have to travel to some park and wait in line behind some dumb tourists from Iowa or Kentucky.

Ok, I watched part of the first(?) episode. It was just not believable and that is fine, it's just a TV show.
And truth be known I was trolling for BGG with the goofy 'rant vid.....
