Will it take for them to respond to weak US leadership? And what about Iran?

With Chinese troops an increasing presence in the western hemisphere, will new alliances be attempted?
Posted By: Stophel Re: North Korea, How Long? - 01/18/21
Neither should be a concern. They have both been very over hyped for decades.
Posted By: 1minute Re: North Korea, How Long? - 01/18/21
North Korea is a nothing but a gnat on an elephant's butt. Iran is similarly a pain in the ass.

They had a big parade showing off “the worlds most powerful weapon”

But that was about 5 days and everyone has already seen that.
China won’t need to use The Norks through proxy any longer. They’ll want us to know who’s [bleep] with us.

Disagree

At best, North Korea is a serious tool/lever that China has used, and can use as a blunt force weapon.

At worst they are a rogue nuclear state.

It won't be the wimps in DC who'll have to fight them.

I’m sure there’s money in Biden’s “Covid relief” package to appease lil Kim for a year or so.

China is going to eat our lunch. After what Trump put on them they won’t waste time. If it weren’t for the 400,000,000 guns in this country they’d probably consider a frontal attack on the mainland.

China’s first move during Biden’s time will be to retake Taiwan.

I'd guess this for a second or third move, but I agree that it's coming.

First move. It makes a big point. Solidifies their position of dominance in the world when they can do this with no pushback from anyone in the world.

It would if it happened that way, but it won't be like that.

Biden won't revoke current military policy in the short term as it would make him look weak. And our current policy would elicit a robust military response to an attempt on Taiwan.

I suspect that Taiwan will fall when there is no one left to defend them. Enter regional conflict in Korea, Iran, etc...

Yep. No doubt about that. And I'll bet that the Iranians will take control of Middle Eastern shipping lanes. Biden won't do a damn thing to stop any of it while his foreign bank accounts get bigger.

Israel wants to hit Iran in a real bad way. But they need our tankers for help midair refueling. so them will need help, who helps is the question. As for North Korea, I have no idea who would take on the task of cutting them off at the knees. I can bet that Biden will not opt to do it. Him being on the spine and nut doner list! Remember ,he is the one [bleep] tard that voted against the binladen raid!!!!! The USA will be viewed as a weak sister under biden. We have the tools but not the resolve.

But will the ROK crush them before they give a nuke to someone with the intent to deliver it to our door?

Agree that in a border war between them that the good guys would prevail.

The NORKs don't need to win or even fight a military battle to make a big splash.
Posted By: cs2blue Re: North Korea, How Long? - 01/19/21
Question.... If South Korea hits the North Korea, how would the US, being a nato partner not get sucked into help out? We have a ton of troops at the border ,DMZ.

When the battle re-commences there, we are in it and committed.

And Biden will retaliate by introducing a resolution in the UN to send them a nasty note. China will veto the resolution. The EU will shore up its relations with China (in fact they've already started) and no allies will ever trust us again.

It will take a long time for us to ever again be a credible superpower to balance China.

I'm no strategist, but if I remember correctly, China is importing a schidt ton of oil, out of the Gulf. To maintain any extended naval and air operations is a thirsty business. Enter stage left, India, no friend of China, with considerable naval forces able to control the Strait of Malacca, or sink enough Chinese tankers to make it a loser in a war of attrition. I see China, pushing, annoying, harassing, everything short of war...I don't see them taking Taiwan yet. Even with one of the biggest clowns in the circus, surrounded by a cabinet of lesser clowns. China plays the long game, generations long, only moving the chess piece when victory is assured.

1. The EU is already doing that but it has nothing to do with us. It's just like they don't do the 2% of GNP towards defense. Western Europe has turned into a bunch of Chamberlains. It's cheaper in the short run to appease than it is to have a strong military.
2. We can balance China for the next twenty years. After that, all bets are off. We've built their economy, which gives them the money to build up their military. They won't be able to project power for at least 20 years, while we can.
3. We need to look more towards Japan and India. They know what a menace China is and are preparing for it. I'll add the Aussies into that group.
4. Russia lost too much population to be anything more than a regional power with the breakup of the USSR. If Europe can't handle them, that's their problem.

Disagree.

With a complicit America, China isn't going to create a Tsunami.
They will continue their passive but always aggressive financial
And low key strategic war. They will continue with the Spratly
Islands, maybe go back to the 11 dash line instead of 9.

War is expensive and risky.
If they turn too many nations against themselves, then
they lose.
At the current pace, it won't take long until they have so many
countries under their thumb peacefully, that they will have taken
over that region "peacefully".

Will Biden continue Freedom of Navagation
exercises? If not, they will strangle Tiawan.

Peacefully?
