Nice looking pooch -- big mittens. How old, what gender and what are you plans? Details needed for the dog guys

Oh boy! Makes me want a Lab puppy right now, even though I have a 9-year-old under my feet.

I've lived in a more-or-less continuous Lab world since for 50+ years, though the first belonged to my major hunting mentor. Got my first at 20, and except for a few months here and there, have never been without one since--often more than one.

Beautiful dog and photo.

He's a male. That's a pic when he was 10 weeks old. He's 4.5 years old now. I found this pic when I was looking around.

He was one from a litter of 11,...a blood line of field Labs from up north. He's a "houndy" looking, duck dog type Labrador.

I brought him home at 8 weeks. I expected him to exhibit separation anxiety for a few days but it never happened. He moved right in,...slept all night the first night home.

He's been spoiled rotten yet he's a good buddy. He isn't inclined to roam even though he still has his balls,...lol,... I couldn't bring myself to neuter him.

He lives around the house and never causes any problems.

I've been running him since he was about 8 months old and he's slim and muscled up,...can cover a lot of ground in a hurry.

As for plans,..I'm just going to continue spoiling him. He's demonstrated that it doesn't damage his disposition,..so he gets the run of the place.

I know right, trying to cut 20”-28” with 18” bar. What am thinking?? lol

I've got my eye on a neighborhood brown lab, that I've told the owners, when they breed it... they have a fish on the line here...

a brown lab and a golden retriever...

Beautiful dog there, Bristoe. I never understood people leaving their dogs outside. If it's not with you, why have one? At one point, we had four beagles, all indoors, and all spoiled rotten. Neither we nor they seemed to mind.

Here is Duke. Born early Oct 2020. Male British Lab. At trainer/breeder becoming a functional hunter for this fall.

Great looking pup and I'm glad (but not surprised) that he turned so well. I had four at once for a long time and life was never better.
Posted By: Bristoe Re: Every man needs a Lab - 04/15/21
Much of his blood line is from here. He looks like those long muzzled, rangy Labs that they breed up north.

We’ve got a male black Lab on the way. The pup should be ready to come home in mid June. Hopefully, he will be a top notch hunting dog for us. It will be the first Lab for us. My family, particularly my boy, is getting pretty excited about getting him. He will certainly add a lot of fun to this summer. He should be ready for doves in 2022.

You'll enjoy having a Lab. Just give him a few months to stop wanting to chew up everything. They get over it.

Like them, but you can keep the mountains of dog hair.

I will stick with my German wirehairs, with 85% less shedding.

My 14 year old Black Lab goes everywhere with me. He was retrieving geese February 14 th and is enjoying his off season. He’s a legend locally. Tough watching him decline. Happy Trails

My three are 101% outside dogs.

Their coats right now look like some shaggy thick 70s carpet. They go swim in the branch water about 15 times a day lol. The yellow one is seemingly wet and drippy most of the day. 😃

I got some negro wool picks and combs from Dollar Tree this and have already started brushing them out. In about another month, I start using a horse curry comb and pull out the thick wads and tufts.
I take them back to a campsite here on the place 1/2 mile from the house cause I dont want all that crap blowing around my smoker, grills and patio.

see a lab can even bring us all together on line...

The first pic is almost 14 years old. She's had a good run. Started dealing with ideopathic vestibular disease a couple months ago. Treatment was effective, to an extent.

Second pic was taken around her birthday last year. She loves some mudbugs. Live, dead, boiled, peeled or not...

Great looking dog. I grew up with labs via my best friend. Hunted them every season. We didn't want a large dog so recently picked up this healer. Sharp as a tack. It had been just over two years without a dog. Sure nice having her around.

You guys are killing me! We had to put our 15 year old lab down last December. I’ve always had labs. My wife said we needed a break for a while. I’ve been dogless since and it just isn’t right. I’m working on it. There’s nothing better than laying down in a litter of puppies and letting them climb all over you, then picking out your new partner and heading home!

Tripod must be getting up there by now?
I could think of a dozen breeds before I'd resort to a lab.

English pointer, gsp, gwp, american brittany, french brittany, English setter, irish setter, Gordon setter, visla, griffon, etc.

But I will say if you're a waterfowler, it's a great breed. Congrats on yours. Please use it.

Yeah me too. I've had Beagles, Plotts, Blueticks, Airedales, GSD's, Rottweilers and several mixed breed mutts but never a Lab. Nothing against them. Just never really cared to have one.

America breeders have changed the Labrador so much that an American Lab needs a different category than the original English type of Labrador.

We have a lab cross we adopted from a lab rescue organization. Ten years old now. Happiest dog we have ever had.Hell on rabbits, squirrels, but not a hunter.Only a great house, family dog, and wife protector. With me it's every man for himself. She sleeps in the middle of our king size bed, fights me for her place on the sofa.. My wife calls her a velcro dog because she is always at her side. Big difference from our last dog, a blue heeler..

My wife was on a new puppy kick a few weeks ago. Thought I had her talked into a lab. Buddy raises them, English style, imported semen, hardcore hunting stock, priced her at $2400. Told him we only wanted one, not the whole litter....

Wife ended up getting a stinking golden doodle mutt. Calmest dog Ive been around. I’m going to do my best to make it a field retriever. Retrieving tennis balls with enthusiasm right now.

My brothers lab in Idaho Falls just had a litter a few weeks ago. The parents have had all the hip and eye certifications and DNA testing. I'd take one of them but my boy is allergic. We have a pointy haired wired griffon due to my boys allergies. Otherwise we would have a lab.

Winchester - Can't retrieve to save his ass. All he want's to do is play keep away. He loved to chase the Frisbee if you could get it away from him. He's 10 now.

The dog could jump 6 feet off the ground to catch a Frisbee, but unfortunately he blew out both Achilles tendons. Had the worst one "fixed", but it didn't take. They had to undo what they did. Now he can't even hardly go up and down the stairs. He's a lot more laid back these days.
