My Dad, who hasn't driven in some years, is the original owner of a 1979 Lincoln Town Car with approximately 78,000 miles. Pretty much loaded, gold with gold velour interior, garaged, original. Up until about three years ago I would drive it when in town but finally it quit running and we couldn't find anyone who knew how to get it running again. Electrical problems, we believe.
What's the best way to sell such a vehicle? When I say "best", I mean how to produce the most money for the least amount of work/expenditure? The amount of interest this car generated when I would drive it was shocking; surely someone would really like to get their hands on it, get it running and show it off. But who and how?
Put up some pictures on the cork board down at every BBQ joint, liquor store, ghetto grocery in town.

LOL
I’d seriously look into getting it running first. Not running it’s just an ol piece of chit that don’t work. Running you can try to sell it as that low miles, one owner, garage kept classic that you deceived it as.
Craigslist or take it to a local car show and put a for sale sign on it. It would most definitely be worth your while to get it running first. It'll be something simple.

All ideas are welcomed.
Thanks, RS
Sell it in a groid area. Them darkies love them things. Do it up all right and turn into some conestoga wagon looking thing with big tall wheels , thin tires, and some type of candy bar themed paint job.
My grandma had a ‘76 model. Had a 460 c.i. with 4 bbl , thing would cruise.
My grandma had the same car. Brown. Us grandkids did our best to wear out the motors/switches in the power seats/windows. It was LONG GONE before I was ever old enough to drive. I can recall my dad taking us out for a ride and getting it up over 100MPH once, but, I don't recall it being "set you back into your seat" powerful.
Get it running! If you cant find someone to fix it either theres a boatload of stupid mfers around ya or youre too broke to pay em. If its in decent shape and RUNNING you wouldnt have to be asking here.

Some charities will take it and you can claim a deduction on your taxes.
1800karsforkikes!
I think that "charity" has Remsen's name written all over it!
If it's true to the name, you'd end up owing money after making the donation...
The funny thing is that my brother has a Town Car (I think it's a '93) that he uses to drive from his home in Florida to our land in Alabama. He's the pimpest Kike in Alabama, all the black folk love his ride.
If it’s a 79 it probably has a 400 in it. If it’s electrical gremlins it’s probably either the Duraspark box, distributor stator, or the ignition switch. None of these are over $100 or hard to change out.
An old dude I grew up next door to had exactly what you describe except his was a 2 door with white velour. 18 foot long hood and a 5 body trunk. Plenty of room for a three way in the back seat.

FPBP.
Leave a bucket of fried chicken in the front seat for a few hours so it'll have a welcoming odor, and put put the photos up to coincide with the ghetto holiday that happens at the first of every month.
Thanks for all of the ideas. I think I'll get that boat running, slap some Curtis Mayfield in the 8-track and see if I can't convince somebody to take it off my hands.
