One of my all time favorite movies. So many great lines. For example. Ben Rumson (Lee Marvin) takes the young farm boy into town to expose him to the finer things in life. Whisky, cigars, then he walks him upstairs to get the boy laid and says to the Harlot
"Gracie I give you the boy... Give me back the man." Walter Brennen no. Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, Ray Walston.

All musicals suck, I'd rather watch my lawn grow than any of them.

Yes, he played Cookie, the chow wagon cook.

A most gruff but loveable character.

My favorite line from the movie is, "Fill your hands, you Sonuvabitch!"

Same here. My #2 best movie of all time.

Got to see it in one of the original huge wide screen cinemas in Toledo, OH.

Enjoyed it so much I even bought the soundtrack album back then.

First, all the good guys got run off.

Next, will be all the straights.

Got 75 bucks a day, to be in the background, acting like I was mining! They paid us after day two! The mining scenes were finished! Went back to falling timber over by Granite!

Wife and I went out to Medora, ND for an extended weekend. She drug me to the "famous" Medora musical. About 76 hours into it, I finally thought it was over only to find out it was just intermission!

I felt like walking back up to the steak fondue and jumping off the building head first into a pitchfork!

My wife's grandfather rented a couple teams of mules to the movie. Got to meet Lee Marvin but missed the chance to meet Clint.

It started as a Broadway musical in the early 50's. The movie came out nearly 20 years later.

To each his own - doing Broadway type musicals has been some of the most rewarding stuff, in more ways than one. Played for Paint YourWagon when it was on stage - felt the movie was a better rendition. In later ears, met and worked with Lee Marvin in Tucson on a youth orchestra project - quite enjoyable - a very good man in my experience.
