Been drinking Donegal Irish whiskey, and have been told it is no longer available in my location.
What are other inexpensive Irish whiskeys that have similar flavors?
Have tried Two Gingers, not bad, but leaves something to be desired.
Time to start experimenting, and trying new flavors!
I'm thinking I'll try Bushmill's red, next.
Thanks! Virgil B.
I've bought Jameson for a friend, he likes it.
Depends on if you are Catholic or Protestant.
I'm Christian; no denomination.
Have tried Jameson, so Bushmills must be next.
Keep the suggestions coming!
Thanks again!

I’m a big fan of the Bushmills bottlings. Reasonably cheap as well. Teeling is one of my favs. I can get by on tullamore. Jameson’s when I’m hard up. Redbreast when i win the lottery
I like Tullamore Dew Cider Cask. Never had Donegal’s so can’t say how it compares.

Bushmills and Jameson's are drinkable and readily available. Teeling is great, my favorite at the price. Redbreast is fantastic in both 12 and 15 year versions. Expensive, but worth it.
Redbreast 12 year. I like it better than Redbreast 15 year!
Don't waste your time on Proper Twelve, it's just celebrity based bullshit.

yep!
How does Irish whiskey taste compared to Blackjack? Jack and Crown are about all I’ve ever tried.
About 40+ years ago, I went to the family Christmas get together at my future wife's very Irish clan. Everything went well. The next morning my father asked my how it went. I said I meshed well, and had some good Irish whiskey. He just shook his head, and said "son there is no such thing". I've had a few that were palatable. Jamesons to be one of em.

Based on your Jack and Coke preference I wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to try Irish whiskey. If you're conveniently in a situation to try it then go ahead, but you probably won't find it sweet enough.

I have to disagree with your father.
Redbreast for the win - but it is expensive. $66.50 + another $4.00 sales tax = $70.50 for a 750 ml bottle here, that relegates it to only a couple of shots on Sunday status at my house.
drover
Anytime I'm asked about good Irish I always mention Redbreast and Green Spot, but it is true that neither falls into the inexpensive category the OP asked about.

Yeah but Conner needs another yacht.
Off the top of my head:
Redbreast 12
Knappogue Castle
Tullamore DEW
I'm tokd that Writers Tears is good but never tasted it.
I like bourbon a lot, but I always keep a bottle of Jameson 12 yr old in the cabinet and enjoy on occasion.
Bushmills Original, Bushmills Black Bush, The Sexton, for Irish whiskey under $30 a fifth.

Same here. A dozen bottles of good bourbon to a single bottle of Redbreast. But Redbreast does hit the spot at times…..like tonight!

We are going dancing tonight, will try some Irish whiskey for the fun of it
Black Bush. if you can afford get the 10, 16, or 21 and never look back
chances are you can't afford the good stuff for long.
Redbreast 12 year. I like it better than Redbreast 15 year!
As well
Redbreast 12. Fug the cost. I'm getting too old to drink crap whiskey
I prefer Jameson Black Barrel over any rendition of Redbreast.
Redbrest tops my list.
Working on a bottle of Lustau presently.
Bushmills in coffee is sublime
Every Irish whisky I ever tasted was hog piss swill until I got some Bushmills. It's okay. Tullamore Dew tastes like overcooked donkey dung.

What's on that list?
Can’t believe i

I forgot green spot. I have a dram saved in a bottle i got as a gift two years ago. I vowed i will not finish it until i have a replacement.

I like the black barrel but its Irish with the Irish removed, more like a mellow rye
Redbreast 12 tops for me with Irish.

That sucks because I just bought a bottled. Haven’t opened it yet. Guess I’ll see.

That would imply you have some experience tasting donkey dung. I guess some folks have a broader epicurean experience than others.
While I prefer bourbon or Tennessee whiskey, I do enjoy Tullamore Dew over Jameson. My personal taste, YMMV.

IMO it’s not bad.
I'm currently out of Irish, but have a booze run scheduled for later this week. I'll be happy with Bushmills, Jamesons, or Tullamore, whichever they have on the shelf at the time. (Selection is often pretty slim here in Utah. And prices are astronomical.)
Thanks for all the feedback!
Time to go shopping again!
It's a rough job having to try all these suggestions, but a FUN job! (GRIN!)

Of what I have tried they are in this order, Tullamore Dew, Bushmills, Jameson. None of them are as good as cheap bourbon or scotch.
Jamesons and Tullamore are okay, but both are a bit thin. Bushmills Black is a step up.
That was friggen funnier than excrement
On another note, I tried that proper 12 crap last week on vacation and you can keep it. Jameson and Tullamore Dew for this boy. But then again I be 100% german
Writers Tears at $40 here in PA is a vert good whiskey, but I prefer Kilbeggan's at $28/fifth. Smooth with a nice flavor.

Better head on up to Evanston Rocky. Booze savings will pay for the gas.
When I was drinking, I liked Bushmills and Paddy's.
Brought home a jug of Bushmills red yesterday.
On sale for $24.95 $5.00 off
So-So...I'll try the Bushmills Original next.
Might have to step up my price point.
Always liked GOOD Scotch , but am looking for something more "affordable" That's still drinkable.
Never did care for Bourbon. Dad always kept a jug of Black Velvet under the seat of his truck,
And us boys always helped ourselves to a snort once in a while. (GRIN!) but, never did develop a taste for it.
