Wife likes my creation. I slap cheese on two pieces of bread and put ham or turkey in the middle. Squish it flat. Throw a tablespoon of butter into a pan on high. Brown the sandwich on one side and then the other in that hot butter.

Damn is that good.

Just accidentally made a sandwich that way one day when I was afraid the hard butter would tear the bread so I put the butter in the pan instead of the outside of the bread.

Sometimes accidents taste great smile

Squishy cheese and meat melt

No I think that's just ham and cheese in the microwave.

I usually make grilled cheese by putting butter on the outside of the bread and frying it. So this was an evolved form of that lol

Melts the cheese. Heats the meat. Crisps the bread. And the Kelly salted butter adds tons of flavor.

Try Duke’s mayonnaise in place of the butter.

Ham and Swiss with dukes on grain bread. Dip in egg wash and fry in butter. Salt and pepper as you flip it. Monte Cristo.
Bloody Mary to wash it down.
Posted By: mjbgalt Re: Redneck panini - 09/20/21
Hmm. Yeah you're right it almost is a Monte Cristo. And it WOULD be better with egg. Lol be right back...

Maybe sift some powdered sugar onto it after frying, and serve it with your favorite preserves.

Dude. Stop it lol

I’m sorry guys if you Google search “Hot Ham and Cheese” and if the cafeteria in my college days menu is correct what you describe is the same. No microwaves were harmed in those days…..

Grilled peanut butter and jelly is the bomb!

Be very careful with the first bite, if the peanut butter is too hot it’s like napalm. Your pallet will have burned skin hanging like curtains.

That’s blasphemy! PB&J does not get grilled. Best is white bread (your choice), Jif creamy, and homemade strawberry jam. In a pinch, homemade blackberry jam will substitute.

Your guys should really take this recipe down the to Food, Cooking, and Game Preparation sub-forum.

... and bump up Wabigoon's Lime Jello-mold-with-raisins thread while you are there.

We've been cooking sandwiches like that for 4 decades.

Nonsense.
4 year old taste buds aren’t a thing when you get older.

LOL!!!

I've been putting the butter in the skillet than on the bread for a while. It seems to toast differently that way. Maybe my imagination. But whatever, it's quicker & easier than smearing the bread.

When I do the ham or turkey in the middle I like to place a few slices of pickled jalapeno in there.

I thought for sure you called it Redneck because you toasted the bread on your manifold.
Posted By: mjbgalt Re: Redneck panini - 09/20/21
Lol I guess it would work on the manifold too

We had a cook that battered and deep fried PB&J sandwiches then hit them with powdered sugar. I didn't try them was trying to lose weight. But a big platter of them disappeared fast.
