Went in for sinus cocktail shot this morning, the nurse came in first to do what they do first , after going through the temp check , Blood pressure check and all that she ask did I have guns in the house , I refused to answer.. WTH ?
I have been asked that before. I when my kids were home I said "no".
Now I tell them it isn't any of their business.
My doc is an old hunting buddy of mine so he doesnt have to ask.

Ditto
That question has been popular with liberal doctors for a good while. I finally asked my doctor why he never asked me and he said it was none of their business.
I live in Wyoming so they never bother to ask, everyone in Wyoming has guns in the house. grin

Why do you ask?

Want to make sure you're safe.

What training do you have when it comes to firearm safety or the proper application of lethal force?

None

Does your malpractice insurance provider know you're offering advice as a medical professional on such topics? Would you like them to know?

Should have asked her if she was buying or selling?
That's a HIPPA violation......
Just say no. Any other answer is marked as yes.
They asked me that years ago because it was on a standardized form. I told them it had nothing to do with my medical condition and was none of their business. They haven't asked since.

Dale
I've never been asked.

WTF is right.

My doctors would know better. Lol.

They've already gotten my 2-minute oratory.
I have never been asked about firearms ownership. I have been to probably 15 doctors in the last 8 years, 3 new ones in the last 3 months. This is in communist California too.

Another good response would be "why do you ask?"

They can't answer that.
Haven't been asked that at the doctors office, but do get pissed at the mile long questionaires they have you fill out at the doctor, eye doctor, kids school, etc that all ask questions with zero to do with the situation at hand. Everytime I feel these forms out they get a "Not Applicable (N/A)" on the first dumbass question, then they get N/A on all subsequent ones. School tried pushing back on my lack of responses. They don't push back any more.

Kid's original pediatrician turned out to be a big "Moms demand action" left wing gun nut. Not only did we remove kids from her office, but the hospital umbrella she was under.

(eye roll), Lawdy no, guns be BADDDD an sit....
In the house? No, I carry them all with me.
I've never been asked, and didn't even know it was a thing. I'll tell them to kiss my ass, do you have any guns at home?
When I did personal record in the Army, some answers were, 'NA".

Should have ask her bra size. One personal question deserves another.

LOL !
If a nurse asks me that question I'm answering with "What color panties you got on?"

If the Doc asks I'll answer with "What color panties does your wife have on?"

One inappropriate question gets answered with another inappropriate question.
Saying something like none of your business they know you do so they will answer yes on the form. I just tell them no and go on. If it ever comes up that I said no, I will say I am hard of hearing and I thought they asked if I had any guns in my house for sale.
They always ask me if anyone is beating or abusing me or do I have trouble dressing myself?

Do I have thoughts of self-harm?

LOL

maybe Iโ€™m on a separate protocol than you all

๐Ÿ˜ƒ
This question is pretty funny...I have my pistol on me when I go to my doc or dentist.

I guess asking me that question would seem ridiculous...So, Iโ€™ve never been asked.

My wife's a PA and had some old dude bring his gun in to his appointment and take it out and show it to her and by gun I mean revolver. I was pissed when she told me and wanted to go rattle his cage but she won't tell me his name because of Hippa laws.

I'm all for concelled or open carry but not ok with someone thinking it's show and tell time while in an exam room alone with a women. All she told me was that he just moved here from California. I don't want to create a stir at her work because I don't want any more limits on carrying I just wish people had more sense about it.

Bb
MY doctor and I get along very well and he told me once this was at one time a Federal requirement for doctors who got federal funds in any manner- Medicare, etc.... to ask during their annual or initial exams.... only happened the once and I told him " I could tell you, but I would have to.... well, you know"....

He laughed, I laughed, the computer laughed....
My doctor knows there's one on my hip when I'm in his office.

I always wear my Colt tee shirt when I see a new Doc.

I could be mistaken, but I think it started under Obama, about the time of Obamacare. I've been asked when I lived in CO.
If they asked me that... I might ask if she had fresh "D size" batteries in her vibrator.
The AMA is yet another Libturd org, that supports more gun control and considers firearms ownership to be a causal part of health related issues.

Some years ago when that question began to pop up and I saw mention of it on the webs, filled out a lengthy form while waiting for my annual check up. Then when I was shown to an exam room, a girl asked me the same damn Qs all over again.

"Have you fallen in the past year", is a favorite. I don't answer her right away. When she repeats it, I say that I'm now in my 70s, WTH do you think?

When my doctor came in, grumbled about that duplication of effort. Asked why there wasn't a Q about firearms in the home, as I'd heard that was now a thing. My annual is in January.

He's as sarcastic as I am, asked if I'd gotten a deer and that he'd killed a nice buck. So we yakked about deer season for a minute or two. Then he told me since he knew I hunted, no point in asking if I own firearms. Said I was too old'n gimpy to run one down afoot and whack it with a club.

He just changed the health system he's affilated with, so I'll see what Qs are on this year's form.

Good one. Direct and on point.

Probably the same in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi!!
My VA doc, now retired, a cool old gal, asked me "Do you ever feel abused at home?"

When I hesitated, she said "Only when you deserve it, right?" Like I said, a cool doc, former Army. I miss her, but I hope she's enjoying a well earned retirement.
It's a backdoor national data base entry for firearm ownership done in the gullible atmosphere of the Docs office on many.

.Gov DGAF about Hippa bullschit when they deem it is time to use all sources of info for gun control.

Anyone thinking otherwise is naive...
All my cardiologist asks me is how he can get his guns out of California and Nevada to Texas. He had misconceptions ( as many do) on transportation and "registration". He was quite pleased with my answers. I asked him last time I was there if he got them, and he said he was waiting an bit more on the pandemic fervor to die down before trying to travel.

Heโ€™s a good guy, hobby woodworker. He like tinkering with old furniture and such.
VA is always phishing for schit.

They want ya to go PTSD claim.
They act real subtle with innuendo questioning like you are not normal if you dont want anything to do with it and answer no to their bullschitt.
And drop it when you tell them my MOS was violence and I wasnt a Remf that did 3 or 4 years looking for a lifetime check saying all the magic words and phrases for a check to you people.
They go into brief silent bob mode and move onto to the other questions then.
Cause they know you are check firing em on what they are pushing for .gov job security in their system and .gov info seeking.

All sources of .gov info for gun control when they deem it is needed.

Lol!!!

I was thinking the
Do you have both testicles question
the Are you pregnant question
Or the menstrual cycle questions

Sorry Wabi...
Just a chuckle at your expense

๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
My IQ? I get by.
Wabi: I don't think he was questioning your IQ. The way I read it he was posing a sample question as might be on a government form, and then implied that the person answering might have put "NA" down. I got a chuckle out of it.
Never been ask. Around here, the answer is pretty much a good guess.
Even most of the ancient widows have some gun, some place.
Many, a shotgun they keep close.

Stabbed my arm at work awhile back.
Couldn't tell you how many times I was ask if I
did it on purpose? Suicidal thought? Thought of hurting myself?
After about the third hint that I might have tried suicide, I looked
at the Triage Nurse and in a pissed off tone ask "You really think
I stabbed my forearm trying to kill myself? I'm not that dam dumb.
A utility knives to the wrist would do much better!"
Maybe that's why it kept going?
I've been on medicare for 8 years now and I've never been asked any question about guns by any doctor or staff.
I ask em what there favorite position to bang in is.

If asked I would launch into a story about a cop buddy telling me about a rash of gun thefts while people were at appointments and mentioned this office as one where the victims had appointments. Be interesting to see their response. But Iโ€™ve never been asked. Both the wife and I have been asked if we feel safe in the home. Never about the presence of guns.
I haven't been asked about guns, but when asked "Do you feel safe at home?" I ask "From what?" That kind of throws them.
I can't believe that you didn't answer that nurse with "It's OK, since the snip I just shoot blanks"... and flex your biceps for her..
I went to all boys Catholic high school with my Dr. aside from my blood pressure,we mainly talk about surviving that place, talk about people we went to school with, guns have never come up.

Last time they asked me that I replied, "none of your @!%$!#@ business"... They've never asked again..

I suppose you could have replied with a question of your own - such as, "how many abortions have you had?"

You know I roll low key...

Got a plaque on the mancave wall from 39 armed goons.
Best goons I ever trained, served, and fought with.

Bout it ..

All that "I love me" schit is boxed up.
Khan, kids, and grandkids can go thru that schit.
And see how big a prick with ears I was walking this rock...

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
The lady doc I see just asks to stick her finger up my arse and if I want a colonoscopy. I just tell her not yet. Just take a blood test and we're good.
The only time I was asked about guns at home I answered "No, I have it on me"

She dang near schit her pants and was half way down the hall before I could holler after her that I was only kidding.

For some strange reason she seemed to be rather pissed at me.
Took SD23 for a dr appt the other day. Sheโ€™s never met this dr but was scheduled for a minor skin surgery.

When he saw her obviously Eastern European name, he started with โ€œAlmost every anti-vaxxer I meet is Russian. They all say Canada is becoming Communist. They have no idea!โ€

Uh, doc, I think they have a lot better idea than you think, having lived through it.

Dumbass.

^^^^^^^ The nurses and I at the place I go for cancer treatments discuss hunting all the time. People are more suspicious if you don't have a gun here......... as they should be...
My docs have more guns than me. One invited me to his ranch a few days ago. He has a hog/coyote problem.

Sneezer workout time?
Different levels of protocols, Iโ€™m under a different social worker/services protocol. They donโ€™t want someone with a $million dollar transplant getting screwed around with by some $9 hour CNA. Which, Iโ€™m not under any direct nursing or managed care but I have been in/out of the specialities clinic. The medicare eligibility stuff that comes with renal failure automatically kicks in with extra social worker involvement. Although, I ought to use those bastards for what theyre for like sending me my records and negotiating access to grants for specialty meds. I just suck it up and take care of it myself.

Now when my kids were under pediatric care, they asked my kids about guns in the home often.
I'd have a hard time doing you around those folks. I hate paperwork crap, especially if I have to do it.

Glad you're managing OK.

In my best Spock voice..................Live long and Prosper.
