Yotes. Eastern Coyote is bigger and fluffier than a Western Coyote. I've heard somewhere that they think the Eastern Yote may have bred with a wolf a million years ago or some such schit. Not sure why there is a difference. I do know from experience that the Eastern model is about twice the size of the Western model.

The theory I've read is that Canadian red wolves interbred with coyotes but not that long ago. Here's an article that says that very recent DNA testing has revealed some in NC with a very high % of red wolf and one that appeared to be 100% wolf. HYBRIDS

Red wolves were native to the southern states not Canada.

Hey Roger—some years ago a biologist noticed that the wolves in Algonquin Park in Northeastern Ontario were considerably smaller than the wolves elsewhere in Ontario. He ran some DNA test and it turns out that those wolves (referred to locally as brush wolves) were almost an exact replica of what they were trying to produce in North Carolina Red Wolf project.
