I was reading a recipe for lemon pepper wings (the sons request)

Anyway, first I’ve ever heard this. It linked me to an article from the all-knowing CDC which I would have to disable my Adblock so I didn’t read it.

. Don’t wash your chicken first Although many people disagree with me, there is a lot of evidence that shows you not only don’t need to wash your chicken wings first, but it could cause more harm than good. There are many articles written on the topic, so head to Google if you’re interested in learning more.
I grew up in the South. We washed everything before we cooked it! My dad used to say "That hot Crisco will take care of any bugs", ha. I'm still here! I will say that I "have" had food poisoning from fowl that "others" have cooked, i.e Olive Garden Garlic chicken put me and my wife on the floor one weekend. A turkey sandwich from 7/11 sent me to ER once. So, I am cautious about birds, ha.
Never
Raw chicken whether it's washed, unwashed, rolled around the bathroom floor of an abandoned bus stop, can kill you. I've never washed mine before cooking thoroughly.
I’ve heard of people washing HB meat.

crazy
No.

Also, we never wear gloves while handling raw meat.

Its almost mandatory on video recipes.
Always heard chicken should be washed off in cold water, not going to stop washing it.

""""They're"""" plotting to kill you Sandbilly, DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRICK.... smile
I never have, if there's something on it there's also something in it. Cook it to 165 and call it good.
The CDC is referring to exposing people to salmonella by washing poultry in the sink. More crap for the man-buns to worry about.

😂 I have an iron stomach, never had food poisoning that I know of.
If the chicken is contaminated with Salmonella, washing it can actually spread the bacteria rather than reducing it. Proper cooking kill it so the best is to just observe safe handling procedures and avoid spreading raw meat around the kitchen as much as possible.
Lol

Pretty rich from a guy questioning others IQ.....lol

That’s where I’m at. The wife not so much..
Enough soap from washing things in the sink should wash away salmonella. Also, washing your hands before eating.
Washing it just spreads more germs and bacteria in your sink and kitchen. But there are people (Karen’s) that will argue till blue in the face. Some just do as their parents always did with no rhyme or reason as to why.

Wasn't it the CDC that promoted changing from wood to plastic cutting boards..........

Lol, The happycamper of Cops......
Wife and I were discussing this last night. I have killed 30 some elk and just as many or more deer that I have cut and wrapped on the kitchen table. I have a cast iron set that hasn't been washed since Reagan had a job.....never been sick, no plan on changing.

We make our own sausage and burger, eat steaks at rare and chicken needs to be tender.

I have always said that if there's a bug out there that dies from dawn dish soap but can live through 200 plus degree cast iron......we're all gonna be in trouble.

No we dont wash chicken...or steak.
Hell no

I still use wood, I'll probably die of Salmonella-19.

From fowl or from poultry?
I will usually wash full chicken wings, if I have to rip out large pin feathers on them....Otherwise, no.

I do wash my hands and anything that got used during prep of the chicken.

Food poisoning from chicken ain’t fun. Yellow squirts for 7 days. Yeehaw cowboy 🤠

no. why would you? chicken gets cooked to like 900 degrees. if anything you oughtta be washing steak or something that is eaten rarer. i blame the teevee for this kind of horschit. buncha purple haired queers cooking froo froo dishes and smearing them with some kind of weird swirly sauce and calling it fancy.
Food poisoning is no joke- - - - - -first you're afraid you're going to die- - - - - -then you're afraid you won't! Poisoning from undercooked food is bad, but spoiled food is worse. I once got the first scoop off the top of a pot of chili that had been sitting around on a steam table too long, and those rotten beans put me in the hospital for three days!

I give steaks, roasts, pork butts, and other cut meat a good washing to get rid of the bone chips the butcher's band saw left, not because I'm concerned about getting poisoned.

Yes, always
Sometimes we get chicken that has stuff on it. Especially leg quarters.
I'm gonna wash that off. DGAF what anyone says.

Wife maintains Serfs Safe qualifications, the issue isn't about your
chicken. Washing won't hurt it at all. It's about splashing the
chicken contaminated water. So don't use the sprayer, and keep the
The flow at flush, instead of pressure wash.

And clean your sink and counters.

Everyone is always perfect. Cleaner than the next guy, more careful.
And it's so common to hear people blast resturaunts for making
people sick. Most food poisoning come from homes.
Restaurants, are designed to much better to eliminate issues.
How many homes have a 3 sink setup? Or use sanitizer?
Or, ever temp check their water with a thermometer.
Rules and design do not determine outcome, but it's a start.

Yep, contradicted myself here.
And that, illustrates the second point!
😂🦫
Unless you eat it half raw, the heat will kill anything dangerous in it.
I nearly killed my deer camp with a Thanksgiving meal about 25 years ago. I put a bird in the oven at O'dark thirty and we went huntin. We got back after dark and the oven never lit. So I goosed it to 480* and let 'er rip. Red thing popped after a little more than an hour. Served it up with some fixins' quick because the boys were hungry. About 10pm we had a line at the only bathroom with it coming out at both ends. Some couldn't wait and were out back. Ran out of TP. Most bugged out by 1am for the 3 hr trip home - stopping along the way to take care of business. Only person out of 8 guys that didn't get sick was my dad who wouldn't eat poultry because of a bad experience doing KP in the service with chicken in 55 gal drums. We haven't had turkey or chicken in camp since then. They are also kind enough to remind me every year how they narrowly escaped death.
Would like to hear the lemon pepper wings recipe if you got a chance.
Just to be clear, I did not mean with soap. Cold water like Mike said. Sheesh

Some beef needs the bone from processing removed too.

Ok, I haven’t picked one yet but I’ll let you know.
We raise and butcher our chickens. Final processing and wrapping prior to the freezer is done in the kitchen. When we’re done, everything has the aroma of bleach.

When I roast a whole chicken, I rinse the cavity. There is always residual stuff in there. When properly cooked it’s fine, but I rinse nonetheless.

No other meats, nor the outside of the bird. So, depends on what you mean by “wash”.

I should have said rinse…

I do the same with the cavity.
Always rinse since raw poultry seems to be a magnet for salmonella and salmonella can make you real sick. I know people who love raw oysters and think that a case of salmonella poisoning every few years is a risk worth taking.

Then you’re doing it right! Carry on.

I’ll
Be doing teriyaki and hot wings as well.

I’ll probably deep fry them instead of the oven. Keeping it simple

4 lb chicken wings
1/4 cup avocado oil (can also use canola)
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons lemon-pepper seasoning
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400F.
Toss chicken wings and oil. Place wings on a wire rack set on a baking sheet, taking care not to crowd wings. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove wings from the oven. Mix melted butter and lemon-pepper seasoning and brush liberally onto wings (stir butter mixture as you go to make sure you have plenty of seasoning for each wing).
Place on a platter and serve immediately.

Wholly, wtf is it with you imbeciles ?

Wash, rinse, sprinkle, give the bird the hose.

The question was wash ~ no wash.

Didn’t hear should Dawn Soap be applied or Douching the birds gut hole with Clorox (which is a great idea for work surfaces afterwards)

Rinse, is correct

LOL

🦫

Yeah I rinse the slimy blood water off, not because of bacteria but just because it's nasty.

What do you do with beef after running it through a saw when you butcher it?
Washing gets their feathers soggy.
What is this thing that all ya'll call "chicken"?

😂 your butthurt is deep.

About 12 inches I’m guessing.
I rinse the blood off my venison if I cut and wrapped it too early and there is a bunch in it when I thaw it. I also rinse off the chicken breasts when I cut them out of the plastic.
