As the title says.
Just got the soap in the mouth treatment. π
That's one long-assed movie. I'm not sure I've ever been able to watch it all in one sitting.
The Old Man said about the furnace: βThat son of a bitch would freeze up in the middle of summer on the equatorβ¦!β

Me neither.
But Iβll piece together the whole show over the 24 hr marathon. ππ€£
Youβll shoot your Eye out Kid !
Kinda reminds me of Old ElkTurdBurglar on one of his many βElk Huntsβ. π
There's no way I can watch that movie again! Done.
We all have a little Ralphie in us.....at least us boomers on down....
Merry Christmas..... all y'all!
GWB
The wife will have it on every TV in the house all day tomorrow.
My 6 y/o grandson will be getting his Daisy RR BB gun Sunday. The BB gun will be fun for him but Iβm glad he doesnβt have to put up with that Scut Farkus kid. π
Yep. We will watch tomorrow until they pull it. A family tradition of ours.
But I didnt say fudge......
Have they edited out the hound dog getting its ear slammed in the door? π
I was Ralphie 55 years ago....
Took me several years, but I scored a Crossman 760 for Christmas in 1966. Best Christmas present ever.
I wore that sucker out!

I got my Red Ryder That year for Christmas. I was 6
Wore it out and got one of the Crossman Pumps about 3 years later.

LOL
Had a Daisy 760(?) pellet gun. Many a sparrow and starling fell victim to black Bart and his evil ways.
Iβm not sure which model my Daisy BB gun was but I got when I was seven I believe. No telling how many BBβs landed in our and our neighborsβ yards. Someone with a metal detector would go nuts trying to find anything except BBβs in our neighborhood. π
A big grackle was my first confirmed kill.
My βRichβ cousin had one of those B.B. guns that looked like a real Winchester 94.
My uncle, that was just a few years older than me had one of those Daisy B.B. guns that looked like s Pump Shotgun.
When weβd have B.B. gun wars, his was more powerful than our Red Ryders and hurt more.
Iβm pretty sure heβs buried with a B.B. in his gut where I shot him at close range as kids. π¬
I had a Daisy regular BB gun, but when I was 12 I graduated to a Crossman .22 pump up type pellet rifle. I got deadly with that thing. No starling was safe in any tree top. A Liberal mom would have a heart attack if her baby touched one of those. That thing was powerful with about 12 pumps. I usually did 10. I still have what's left of it and plan to refurb it some day.

Nope. Itβs still there. π
Best Christmas movie ever!

Fantastic photo op !
The movie is great because it captures how several generations of kids were raised in the US. Also the hilarious look of how you viewed situations as a kid.
The father for me was a pretty good caricature of my father.
My brothers and I can watch it and laugh and laugh as we're winking at one another because he reminds us of our Dad.
Sonsabitches...
...Bumpuses!!!
lol
Bumpus is a very common name around Middle Tenn
Even went to school with a couple. They werenβt too bright either.
Real school though, not some 12 kids in a feed store classroom
I was 9-10 when I got the Daisy 94 look alike a great rifle I wore it out over the years, I but I killed a pickup load of birds with it! Love the movie too! I did by a red rider when the came out again. Still have it.
Got my first one in 1971 at the age of 6, only had it two days and my Dad wrapped it around a tree. Me and my brother got caught shooting groids that were fishing our pond.

Ha Ha !
I got a Daisey, lever action, BB gun for Christmas when I was eight (1969). Best Christmas present ever. I wore that thing out over the ensuing five or six years.
Jean Shepherd, the guy that wrote that, was one of my Dad's tenants back in the day. I remember going to visit him in his apartment so that he could show off his Ham radio gear. At the time, I think he was working at WLWT.

Same thing, except I was fourteen when I got my Crossman pump up pellet rifle with scope. I got damned good with mine, too. It retired the worn out Daisy.

He used to have his own show on PBS that was hilarious. Me and a friend in school back then always watched it. This was before the movie.

LOL. Good Shooting !
I still have my Benjamin 22 cal that I got when I was 8, 52 years ago. I had it resealed for the third time a few years ago. A pile of critters dropped to that gun.

When I worked behind the gun counter at Herman's Sporting goods in the early 1980s, I sold a bunch of them. They were a popular Christmas present. I think most were in 5mm, though.

If 5mm they were Sheridan's.

That's a model of Benjamin, right?
At least in the old days. I don't know what company owns who now.
I can't remember how old I was when I got my first Daisy. I do know that to cock it, I had to hold the muzzle between my feet and lean down on the lever. I wore out a number of Daisys during my youth. One of my pastimes was setting up toy soldiers in the dried-out garden plants in the fall and seeing if I could get them all with one load of BBs in the Model 99. I also recovered and reused BBs whenever possible.

LOL. I gave one of my nephews a Red Ryder when he was 5.
His mother, my sister in law, and a Libertard was extremely pissed.
I told her not to worry, heβs such a little shrimp, he wonβt be able to cock it for a few years. So I was teaching him to shoot it, and had to cock the action for him.
A couple of hours later, we looked out the window into the backyard where he was playing. He had gotten the B.B. Gun out of the closet where his Dad had stashed it, and was cocking the Red Ryder in the exact manner you described!
Me and the little brother laughed out assed off. He didnβt have any B.B.βs in it, but the sister in law was not amused. π¬
And we used to shoot our little plastic Army men, with ours too, when we were kids. π€

Yep. GI Joe, too.
They were .22 caliber. I had one too, donβt remember the Model #, though.
I got a Daisy Pump from my dad that was his BB gun as a kid.I remember having the measles and being stuck in the house for a week. Some kids were playing in front of our house. One kid bent over and I shot him in the ass from the second story bedroom. He ran away yelling Ma,I got stung by a bee.Years later I learned that was a fatal shot inTexas.

Benjamins were 177 and 22. Sheridans were 20.

We must have sold both. Don't they all look about alike?

342? I'd go look but I have a pup snoozing on my lap at the moment.
There was a similarity, but the Sheridan had a longer section of stock on the pump handle.
benjamin had a corncob style pump handle too.
benjamin had a corncob style pump handle too.
Those were even older. Benjamin switched to a fuller, smooth handle by the mid 70's when I got mine.

Gave mine to my little brother years ago. He used it when he lived there in Smithson Valley to chase the deer out of his wifeβs flowerbeds. π¬
i remember that the benjamins and sheridans were the rich kids guns. or the kids whose parents had a credit card anyway. i had a crosman 160 until it got stolen in quebec and then a crosman 7600. still got the 7600 but it needs seals. i had this same conversation with my wife when we first got married and i was looking at a blue streak. i was too cheap to buy it but it ended up under the tree on christmas morning. it laid waste to a lot of ground hogs and rabbits when i lived in the 'burbs. now they get the 22. the sheridan needs seals too. been too lazy to look into it. not sure if its an easy job for a non-gunsmith type like me. might need to consult a professional.
Railfie in his golden years ! π
Sorry Huntsman, I couldnβt resist. Your probably a lot younger than I am.
Did you just buy that or is that an old original model ?
Iβve still got my Dadβs that he got for Christmas in 1944.
Might have to go by me another one with one of the Academy Gift Cards I got for Christmas. π€
