My βRichβ cousin had one of those B.B. guns that looked like a real Winchester 94. My uncle, that was just a few years older than me had one of those Daisy B.B. guns that looked like s Pump Shotgun. When weβd have B.B. gun wars, his was more powerful than our Red Ryders and hurt more.
Iβm pretty sure heβs buried with a B.B. in his gut where I shot him at close range as kids. π¬

I had a Daisy regular BB gun, but when I was 12 I graduated to a Crossman .22 pump up type pellet rifle. I got deadly with that thing. No starling was safe in any tree top. A Liberal mom would have a heart attack if her baby touched one of those. That thing was powerful with about 12 pumps. I usually did 10. I still have what's left of it and plan to refurb it some day.

The movie is great because it captures how several generations of kids were raised in the US. Also the hilarious look of how you viewed situations as a kid.
The father for me was a pretty good caricature of my father. My brothers and I can watch it and laugh and laugh as we're winking at one another because he reminds us of our Dad.

Bumpus is a very common name around Middle Tenn
Even went to school with a couple. They werenβt too bright either.
Real school though, not some 12 kids in a feed store classroom

Got my first one in 1971 at the age of 6, only had it two days and my Dad wrapped it around a tree. Me and my brother got caught shooting groids that were fishing our pond.

I got a Daisey, lever action, BB gun for Christmas when I was eight (1969). Best Christmas present ever. I wore that thing out over the ensuing five or six years.

Jean Shepherd, the guy that wrote that, was one of my Dad's tenants back in the day. I remember going to visit him in his apartment so that he could show off his Ham radio gear. At the time, I think he was working at WLWT.

Same thing, except I was fourteen when I got my Crossman pump up pellet rifle with scope. I got damned good with mine, too. It retired the worn out Daisy.

At the time, I think he was working at WLWT. He used to have his own show on PBS that was hilarious. Me and a friend in school back then always watched it. This was before the movie.

I still have my Benjamin 22 cal that I got when I was 8, 52 years ago. I had it resealed for the third time a few years ago. A pile of critters dropped to that gun.

When I worked behind the gun counter at Herman's Sporting goods in the early 1980s, I sold a bunch of them. They were a popular Christmas present. I think most were in 5mm, though.

If 5mm they were Sheridan's.
