I think it turned when the seriousness of our nations state finally became evident through the fraudulent second election of a Kenyon Muslim with no real Birth Cert and a complicit MSM whose every action was deletarious to the USA.
Its been like a fishing trip i experienced one night.
One minute uncle and i were sitting in the middle of Lake Buchanan catching nothing with no wind. We saw a little lightning to the north but it was far away. It was the calm before the storm.
The breeze came up and we started catching white bass.
Then we heard a sound like a freight train coming down on us. The tornado hit and waves were coming over the bow as i hoisted anchor. I got the boat started and went with the storm riding in the trough. Occasionally i would power up and creep up the side of a swell trying to not go over the crest and fall with dreadful speed into the next trough, to try and see lights hidden by the eight foot swells. Things get serious when you reach the precipice. The change of direction is necessary. The calm before the storm was preferable. Some remember that time with fondness. Some may prefer to ingnore the storm and live as in the past. It may be gone forever or a while.

As I spend a lot of my time on boats, I can appreciate that story.
I'm just having a little trouble comparing miserable malcontents to weather.
Yeah the good ol days.. sigh remember it like yesterday.. Safariman pulling his hi-jinks fleecing you all for money and donations.. Houndgirl had all the guys tripping on their dicks lol who could forget nurse kat I think she had an affair with another forum member. Yes the good ol days
It is dismaying how often good, reasonable threads are turned in to a septic tank. I can't blame guys for leaving this forum. The mods ought to crack down on the bs.

Yeah.. but when did it go liberal?
Politics wise went down back in 2008-2009 time frame. All these liberal white dudes like gay dudes coming out of the closet. Thought they with the great black hope they be accepted by the conservatives on here because you know we are all brothers because we share the same hobbies hunting and shooting guns. But they draw the line at AR15’s.

Yeah....so did the 2016 and 2020 elections with all the Tulsi and Cruz lovers sitting around and pouting.

I'm still waiting on the Tulsi nekkid workout video.

You hear of anything forthcoming?
No, but after she gets done disarming all of us she is thinking about hiring the Kardashians as her social media consultants. \
It changed, seemingly overnight. I get it.... evolution and all that.
But what precipitated such a rapid change?
It didn’t happen overnight… The media, hollywood, tv commercials, pro sports, big tech, even our schoolteachers and politicians have been bombarding our senses with their vision of acceptable behavior…. Hell, look at that thread on “Manscaping”….. Defund the police….no cash bail…. Injection sites for junkies…enhanced unemployment benefits…. Equity….gender identity…reparations…it’s a never ending and escalating assault…..and while we’re distracted by all the BS, China is still openly sucking tech out of our universities and research facilities. (Guess where they got the tech to create Covid?) not only did we give them the tech, we actually funded the research… China is positioning itself for an invasion of Taiwan and Russia is eyeballing Ukraine….and you know what??? Pelosi and crew are still stuck on their “insurrection” narrative….in short, we’re being sold out and most are too stupid to realize it….but go ahead….watch that football game… keep ordering your schitt from Amazon… keep using google and posting on facebook….

And before that Trump exposed quite a few…
Right-on, I had no idea how many here loved the neocons and many loved RINO's. When President Trump won - all the sudden the majority of the haters pretended they loved Trump from the get-go. Zhit-talk him in every thread then say ''I voted for him''.

There definitely were more hunters and riflemen here back in the day. The custom rifles forum was always full of great builds etc. Maybe all the good factory rifles these days kind of squashed the customs in some regard though.

The anonymity of the internet rather than face to face interaction has emboldened trolls with a complete lack of personable accountability. Anybody with a heartbeat can go from zero in real life to hero on the internet. Then you add in sock puppetry, (how does anonymity get even more anonymous for 500 Alex), and people that run sockpuppets and should get their ass beat become loudmouth jerkoffs that run the conversation rather than sit quietly and listen from their betters.
There's a logical order to prior society where elders taught the next generation, even while the next generation resisted a little and tweeked things to their liking. But in this modern paradigm the young are held in higher regard, or allowed to disrespect their betters, running the show rather than learning from the more experienced, revering those that went before them in life.

Looks like you ate a Thesaurus...
I'll learn from anyone that has something to teach... 20 year olds have taught me EXPERT level tree grafting. Several mechanics (under 30) are the only guys that touch my four Cummins trucks.
My financial guy is in his 40s (and black)... he is a genius.
Nothing to do with age... or anything else.
Crap is crap...
Walmart sell trousers under the brand "Faded Glory"... lots of folks around here wear them I reckon.
AGAIN... TEACH ME... I am wide open to learning ANYTHING from ANYONE.
ge'tars and drums and singing at 9am for the younger crowd.
...and 11am organ music... with no singing or participation required... and no controversy at all.
A new format, I like it, the normal folks get to post like usual in the "normal" forum and anyone that wants to be normal can log in anytime. There can be a "whiny sniveler's forum", where they can whine and snivel freely, so long as the whiner's and sniveler's are Vaccinated I don't see a problem.

The lack of face to face meetings of fellow members due to the growth of the CF over the last 10 years and the last couple years of reduced travel along with a general decrease in civility overall that is seen everywhere. There's a small crowd here that has no sense of fellowship at all, just another person on the internet claiming to be something or someone that thinks that if they shout loudest or post more it makes them "win the internet."
Back in the day a significant number of us actually traveled and met with our fellow CF denizens. Sure, there were a few of the disruption crowd but they never traveled and no one ever met them. That's OK but the civil and fellowship crowd input in the CF outweighed their high noise factor in the day. These days any idea other than those exposed by the CF echo chamber is met with a wall of derision and personal and family insults that would get them shot, stabbed, run over or just disappeared in person. We've lost a lot of voices of sanity to FB and other places.
Other good sub forums here on the CF where the civility, fellowship and willingness to share experience and knowledge yields the same positive results and greater enjoyment for all. The one's who continue to insult and disrupt just go on ignore anymore.
This forum isn't the only place that's changed. It's every day life and interaction with family and friends. An example was January 6th of this year. I had some family and "friends" get irate with me, Trump sign still along the highway on my property and they all had some pretty nasty comments about me supporting such a reprobate. It was like all that pent up hate got turned lose. Some of them I have anything to do with since, most in fact. The mask is off for the most part. I've never tried to hide my beliefs but some of these have for years. It truly was an eye opener to me to see and hear what these people support. I suspected it for years but now I have proof. What we're seeing today is a dividing of our nation somewhat like what they saw before the Civil War.

All brought to you by the United States Govenment. This is exactly what their plan has been all along to create speration, hate, distrust, and chaos. Appears to be working quite well also....

Huge money in Division...
Obongo was a nothing paper pushing clerk... then he divided the nation based on race baiting and made gazillions for himself and his ilk.
If people smile well... when they push the knife in... does it hurt less?

You may find what I have.. That you are far better off without them in your life and enjoying a much more pleasant path through it.

Good point. The virus has also made people nuts. Its created fear and isolation in people that I've known for years. People that I used to think were intelligent and independent thinkers, turned into mask and vax nazis.
The board is a lot older and younger than it used to be. Lots more guys over sixty and lots of guys who are apparently in their 30s and early 40s. There doesn’t seem to be much in between. As a Gen’xer, I find that a whole hell of a lot of the Boomers just can’t comprehend how things have changed. They think people are stupid instead of realizing that they are far from stupid, but are either evil outright or have bought into a quasi-religious ideology that allows them to do the worst things and support the worst things with moral certitude of their own virtue.
On the flip side, I find that a lot of the younger guys don’t realize what has been lost and how different things used to be.
Campfire seems to me to be merely a reflection of the entire culture we live in. Everyone is angry; if they're not, they're looking for an excuse to get angry. If one doesn't hew to the exact party line of the folks he's communicating with, he's skewered. Phrase a statement or a question in a way that your allegiances can be questioned, and you are crucified. Gotta have thick skin and tough it out, or take your marbles and go home.
As to why the culture has deteriorated so rapidly, well, that's one of those discussions that gets people angry.

There's a bunch of miserable [bleep] out there whose lives' suck, and they do their darndest to spread their misery, i.e., misery loves company.

Yep, and several here fit that mold 100%. Internet trolls are just one rung above politicians and lawyers.

Got to disagree… boomers comprehend VERY well on how things have changed… you have been programmed to think everybody’s a winner and everybody deserves a participation trophy….you have a choice of which sex you want to be….homosexual behavior is acceptable and should be celebrated….I could go on because it’s a long list….these “CHANGES” being pushed on us are changes that go against everything we’ve learned in the past, over thousands of years….things that work and are essential to a functional society
THINGS didn’t change……only acceptance (by some) of the supposed “NEW NORMS” …
The Fire has degraded, step for step, right alongside society. Compare the cool kids on here today versus ten years ago. Not even close! Just the way it is.

I don't know about shot, stabbed, or disappeared but I'm with you on the rest of it. I like to fling wisecracks just like anybody else but sometimes it feels like a bunch of fifth graders in here, except with no playground to sort it out when someone crosses the line.
But like Wabigoon said, it's all about your expectations. I don't expect a lot, other than entertainment.

You just illustrated the truth in what JoeBob was saying.
He is a Gen Xer not a millennial. Those things you point out are issues w/ millennials not Gen X.
He also said it was the younger crowd who fails to consider what has been lost, not Boomers. He gave the boomer generation credit in that regard.
I haven't paid attention to when but have seen a big change as I read through threads. Has it worsened on all fronts in relation to all of the stress and tension in the country/world with all of the Covid hype/isolation of the last almost two years?
Ya had a little 128 pound piss ant drunk out of his mind guy, mouthing off and insulting everyone from Australia to Atlanta. Loon kept calling me “maser” Pure Derangement
All his 10-12 ball licking old timer minions chiming in and piling on. Single em out and cut em from the herd, they get squirrelly and go hide on facebook and slap on the Ignore force field

I joined here when the Iraq War was cranking'. I caught a lot of flak back then for not worshipping the neocon maniacs who lied America into that war,

Same here with me but it was the 1-2-3 of the (Saint} George Floyd riots, the Selection as well as the Jan 6th Demonstration. Too many here in California are desperate to fit in and try to anticipate the next level of stupidity and scratch and claw to be there first. The only silver lining is that a bunch of people who kept quiet are starting to object or are openly ignoring these royal edicts from the left.
I haven't paid attention to when but have seen a big change as I read through threads. Has it worsened on all fronts in relation to all of the stress and tension in the country/world with all of the Covid hype/isolation of the last almost two years?
I see this on the forums I follow and in everyday interactions. Covid, politics and the constant bombardment from social media have people constantly on a razors edge.

As a gen x-er you seem to want it both ways. People younger than you don't understand how it used to be and what's been lost, but people older than you can't comprehend how things have changed.
You were born at the perfect time to understand all of this with a clarity that those born before or after just can't comprehend.
The funny thing is, you probably think generation X is unique in that way of thinking. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The Fire has degraded, step for step, right alongside society. Compare the cool kids on here today versus ten years ago. Not even close! Just the way it is.
Yep we’re a micro chasm of the society in which we reside,

Yeah seems there’s a whole lot of people who read with the intent of being butt hurt rather than to try and understand where others are coming from.
Likewise there are many who write as if anyone who varies the slightest from their passionately held position is sub-human trash with whom it would be a sin to converse at all.

As a gen x-er you seem to want it both ways. People younger than you don't understand how it used to be, but people older than you can't comprehend how things have changed.
You were born at the perfect time to understand all of this with a clarity that those born before or after just can't comprehend.
The funny thing is, you probably think generation X is unique in that way of thinking.
I simply think that the America of 1990 was a lot closer to the America of 1890 than it is to what is going on now. If you want to turn this into some sort of adversarial fight between the generations, I’m not going to bite unless you persist.
Yeah.. but when did it go liberal?
Covid exposed a schit ton of closet liberals here
And before that Trump exposed quite a few…
Right-on, I had no idea how many here loved the neocons and many loved RINO's. When President Trump won - all the sudden the majority of the haters pretended they loved Trump from the get-go. Zhit-talk him in every thread then say ''I voted for him''.
I joined here when the Iraq War was cranking'. I caught a lot of flak back then for not worshipping the neocon maniacs who lied America into that war,
Not so much lately.
I remember that, the BUSH LOVERS would lose their minds over a derogatory comment about a bush.
I use to face-palm and yell JESUS CHRIST when someone would exclaim that Colin Powell would make a great President. laf steve-NO gave my neck a workout due to shaking my head back & forth

Yep, and the America of 1960 was even closer. As far as boomers not comprehending how things have changed, our baseline is earlier than Gen X so we've seen more change. I think most of us have a very keen understanding of how things have changed.

No, you don’t as a generation. It’s not about the change. It’s about the “why”.
I didn't come here until 2015, I lurked awhile before joining. The biggest change I see, has taken place in the last two years. I believe the covid crunch pitted member against member. I don't mind the somewhat childish behavior at times. I just move on! I also don't think it's any small group that has changed this forum. The question is it a good change or bad change! To me it's just change! This is still a great place to gather information on hunting and firearms of all types. Just read through the bs, and move on! I don't believe in the ignore feature. To me that is like putting ones head in the sand! Happy Trails to all.
Yea. I can say that I have a ton less tolerance for people and things these days. It's hard to keep it in the middle.
The ability to say whatever you want with zero recourse is the problem. Put the same people in a room together, they might not agree but for the most part they would get along. On the internet they are free from recourse so they become KEYBOARD COWBOYS and starting crap is their game. I have finally learned to enjoy them for what they are but to ignore them.
People are like countries. When they have problems within, they look to blame it on outside factors. Same thing here. People hate or are frustrated with their lives and decisions, so they come here to blame their problems on others.

Wrong-O, Ding-Dong !
Gen-X here. I never heard of it, or saw a participation trophy handed out...Was told several times by my elders ~ you lost ~ you all played like shît. Do better next game or enjoy losing.
Sexual orientation? Wtf are you talking about? Never experienced it when I was in school or during my 25 years in business. Sure there was obviously weird fûcks, living however they pleased, but it wasn’t a requirement, like today, that we accept it as normal behavior. As long as it was confined mostly to their homes. It was their business - their secret.
We aren’t, as a Gen-X, accepting of government interference in our homes or anyone else’s for that matter. And we certainly aren’t holding hands with this current trend in a popular socialist society of accepting everything, everyone, no matter who the fûck is saying we should.
It seems this new generation of people lost the concept of reality. Emboldened they all are by the power of the “Cancel Button” to rid themselves of those of us who disagree, or flatly deny their claims with facts.
There was a time when one could count on a few things. Among them were that your doctors were motivated by your best interests and tried their best to see to it. That science was motivated by actual facts and results as opposed to money and ideology. That corporations were apolitical and cared only about making money. And that a football game was just that, and not a political litmus test.
A lot of Boomers have trouble comprehending that those things are no longer true, particularly about doctors and corporations. They can tell you all the things that are different and worse in the world than it was when they were young, but they can’t really grasp that the fundamental rules are different now.
GenXers seem to instinctively realize none of that is true anymore but are caught between acting as though the old rules still apply and happily enjoying the juicy steak of The Matrix and a self defeating pessimism.
Lots of younger people don’t realize there was ever a time when those things were true and why anyone should be upset that they no longer are.

I’ve got a very good friend who has a 20 year old son who just had a mental breakdown. The GenXer in her, wanted to tell him to suck it up and quit being a pussy. But she realizes that people of his age and generation don’t necessarily respond to that like we did.

Can't say I agree with half the ash-oles on this site. But I sure enjoy the rawness of it. I've never been an HOA guy and never will be. 99% of everywhere else is moderated crap that tells you how to think like an HOA telling you what color to paint your fence or to take down the American flag because it disagrees with it's bylaws. Hell with that.
I don't need someone else to filter things for me, I'm quite capable of making those decisions on my own.

You're very charitable. We'd all be well served to be more charitable.
The 'Fire has been "turning" since it began - the characters here arrive and depart just as they do in other aspects of life - and those here whose minds concentrate on personalities for entertainment and satisfaction will be most affected by the evolution. That is evident in the previous posts. For example, the lower level character and mind will enable itself to be insulted and try to blame the effect on an external source. Such opportunities are ripe on a forum like this one.
Conversely, those who are here to seek useful knowledge and insights and to share such positives with others will experience something different - the effects may wax and wane as expertise and good will tend to vary over time.
Of course, some are here for a mix of the above and others for even different reasons. Thus, the views on "turning" will vary.
However, the level of personal values and what one seeks here will determine the behavior and satisfaction. The outcomes never will be a constant.

Not quite as concise as you may think! Most boomers I know haven't trusted any establishment, since the 1960's. To say they have is pure speculation!

I can relate to her situation.
Had a coach call me out in front of the other parents for telling my son he was letting the rest of his team down by not giving his best effort at the end of practice. In their eyes, I was that maniac parent. Maybe I was, I don't know but that was the start of me realizing I can't parent like I was raised.
He's 23 now and we have a great relationship, I see the benefits of adjusting versus just being a hard ass like my old man but I had to bite my tongue several times over the years

Thats why the young bunch voted dimocrap.
I think theres going to be another "turning" soon.

A *lot* of people can't wrap their minds around what is happening in the world. Maybe Boomers are more subject to that than younger people because the Boomers grew up in a time when what is happening was unimaginable.
I'm a Boomer. But I got red pilled back before there was a term to describe it,..yet even I'm surprised at how fast the decline is coming on.
Somebody said that bankruptcy starts slow but ends fast. The same can be said of nations and cultures,...and we're definitely in the "fast" part of our cultural bankruptcy.
I agree with that. Like I said, it’s all general observations. I just know that a lot of boomers I talk to still think in terms of things being “stupid” and that certain things will never “work” without realizing those aren’t the proper criteria for evaluating things.

Personally, I truly believe that what's going on is Satanic. I didn't think in those terms 20 years ago. But it's become impossible for me to not see it.

If you just assume that there is an extremely powerful entity who loathes both individual humans and humanity as a whole, and that this entity has an outsized influence on the world, and that many people, especially powerful and influential ones are heavily influenced by said entity, things make a lot of sense.
Somebody said that bankruptcy starts slow but ends fast. The same can be said of nations and cultures,...and we're definitely in the "fast" part of our cultural bankruptcy.
We're where the British were in the 1930s. The big difference is that they ceded power to an ally (us) while we're going to lose it to an adversary-China.

I was actually thinking that too while reading the last few posts on this thread. They knew the sun was setting on their world empire.

Yep, they still had delusions of grandeur but the debacles of Dunkirk, HMS Hood and Singapore woke them up. When India got independence, they were done.
When BobNH passed on the proverbial streams from Ghostbusters started to be crossed. There used to be two forums with a group that was interested in guns and hunting and a group that was into guns and hunting but with booze added. There was a sense of decorum when he was around but he would not suffer fools lightly. Now there are shadows of the old forum but there is a lot of chit blizzard and old timey religious revival going on at the same time. Sure miss posters like Kutenay(Dewey), Alan Day and BobNH. It was more like sitting around the fire with folks that had stuff to say. Some of the old timers are still on but I feel many just look in disgust and move on.
LOL, you can stop playing the victim card now, that wasn't hostile, I was making a point myself.
Why do you think my medical history is any of your business? Why do I "owe" you an answer, and why are you entitled to ask that question?
I already know the answer. You took it because your doctor and the medical authorities told you it was a good thing to do.
LOL, you've got all the answers, dontcha? I haven't talked to "my doctor" or any other medical professionals about the vaccine. My personal experience with doctors has not been the best so I don't depend on their advice.
But why haven't you answered my question quoted above? You're asking me to publicly discuss my medical history, but you refuse to give me a reason why it's any of your business, does that about sum it up?
United Healthcare is my health insurance carrier. They keep sending me emails asking me to fill out an online form that documents my vaccine status. I haven't done that for my health insurance carrier, why should I do it for "joebob on the internet?"
I am not sure I accept the premise of the O.P.'s question. As others have stated the campfire evolves. To insinuate it was sudden, and without providing examples makes me reject the premise.
Now for the sake of a good argument and or pissing match..... I will say in 2015/2016 during the presidential campaign a certain contingent was butthurt that anyone would support Trump and not their Texas booger boy..... as Gruff said a lot of liberals and rino's were outed..... the old Fudd contingent was so far behind in understanding the cultural war that was raging on, yet they kept arguing and refusing to open their eyes. Then the coup de grace was covid..... again more closet leftist, more clueless Fudds. I remember when the old guard would go after Hawkeye with a vengeance.... gave him the KOTY award.... everyone of them has been proven wrong and Hawk has been proven right... This encouraged the leftist trolls to jump in and further divide. Hell I will even nominate DocRocket for the KOTY award this year... I believe he thought he was doing the right thing, yet he played into the hands of the Bolsheviks.
Man there's enough ingredients in this thread to make a hell of a butt hurt stew. Fair bit of stray estrogen too. hahhahaha WTF ever. Always been a schit show always will be get over it.
I don't know if this fits anywhere in this thread but just something to think about when you see people behave the way they do.
99% of all people in the world are complete assholes, me included. Instead of getting mad at them for that, be thankful that so many manage to suppress it so well.
I agree with that. Like I said, it’s all general observations. I just know that a lot of boomers I talk to still think in terms of things being “stupid” and that certain things will never “work” without realizing those aren’t the proper criteria for evaluating things.

"Good is evil and evil is good"
Bristoe you're on the right track in my opinion. With what we're seeing as being Satanic. My wife and I were talking about people that we used to think liked us and now they don't. I doubt they ever did to be truthful. My thoughts was a Bible prediction that will/is taking place known as the last days. It says that the love of many will wax cold. I see that taking place and even feel in my own interactions. I hope there are events that change that or at least slow it down. Those things almost always involve hardship and or tragedy. An example all of us witnessed right here not that long ago was the death a fellow member, Ethan. There was a common thread of being sorry he was gone and even many that would and are missing him. It managed to bring out a more decent side to most all of us. We need that as a nation. If and when it happens it's going to be severe too.

No, it's really true. Perhaps assholes isn't the best word since it provokes a defensive emotional response (which is kind of why I used it), but 100% of the people in the world have the potential for being incredibly cruel to their fellow human beings. That we don't all the time is a cause for some hope.

That is a rather dark outlook and not sure I agree. But the way things are going today , you may be correct

In my opinion to be more precise, a huge percentage of the left has the potential to be incredibly cruel to fellow humans.... The right doe's not, many simply want to be left alone. The left can hardly contain their dark side and giving in to it today

If you want an example of a huge driving force in today’s world that is almost explicitly Satanic I’ll give you the climate change agenda.
Climate change is now an explicitly anti-human agenda. They expressly call humans a virus on the planet and that we should be leek instead of our population drastically curtailed. They are advocating policies that will necessarily reduce our population and our standard of living. They seem to confine us to urban enclaves and restrict us from free movement upon the planet. All of this is being done in the name of climate change.
How is this Satanic? Well, man is God’s finest creation. In the apocrypha the creation of man was Satan’s reason for rebellion. God told man to multiply and subdue the earth. Climate change turns that on its head. Climate change wants man’s numbers to be limited and subordinate to the needs of earth. In the Bible the earth was created for man. In climate change, man is a blight upon the earth.
Biblically, Satan is the lord of the earth. All of the western governments now worship on the altar of climate change and climate change drives their agendas.
It does seem dark and again, perhaps I'm just phrasing it such a way to produce a more dramatic effect.
But what I'm trying to say is that the people we see on this forum or any other forum or venue are simply behaving the way human beings have always behaved since we became our current identifiable species. We have thousands of years of written records of very brilliant people exploring and describing human nature and it hasn't changed one iota in all that time. The internet just amplifies what we see and perceive due to the anonymity which gives our cruelty a mostly repercussion free outlet, which is not an astute or original observation by any means, and also by exposing us to a far wider sample of our fellow humans.
Generational animosity is certainly not new, every generation that's ever existed grows old and thinks the younger generation is going to hell in a hand basket. Then the old ones die, the young ones get old and think their kids are all going to hell and the circle goes round and round.
Right now our country is definitely undergoing the kind of sea change that most of us over 25 have never seen before but this situation in general and in particular - a takeover by despotic and tyrannical forces - is not new to this world. The kind of freedom we used to know is extremely rare in the history of the world, we just get to be front and center in watching things go back to the way they usually are, for better or worse. Well, not better, just worse, since we have a "better" to compare to. As JoeBob noted, the younger ones have nothing to compare it to so they will accept it as normal. Oh well.
I don't know where I'm going with this but it's a very snowy day here and I've done my chores so am just philosophizing. Oh yeah, assholes. Whenever you see someone being one, don't be too hard on them and don't take it personally, never take it personally even when they try to get you to take it personally. We're all - every one of us - just trying to muddle through life the best we can, some do a better job of it than others and all of us do a better job of it at times, a worse job at other times. That was the impetus for my "potential" remark.
Btw, that last part isn't my original thought either, I borrowed that from about a brazillion spiritual and secular teachers that have come before us.
Jim, that’s a long way of saying, “I will stomp an ass-hole into the pavement because he’s against me, my beliefs, my way of life, and his idealism is set on ruin of our country forever more”.

More than anything else, Boomers are just going their own way,...the aware Boomers, anyway.
This stuff that's going on in the world isn't part of the Boomer's life experience. So they don't participate in it very much.
That's probably been the case with every generation once it reaches a certain age. But it's especially true today. The world has changed very fast. The aware Boomers make a conscious decision to separate from it,..and the unaware Boomers just can't keep up with it.

I'm aware,...and more than a bit reclusive.
I'll buy that. I'll also say that my generation (Gen X) would be lying, if they'd not admit having a profound respect, almost envy, for your parents generation.

🍆🍾😃
Isn't true at all from my point of view. Most "Boomers" want to see leftist scum hanging from trees. And we consider the CDC, FDA and NIH run by lefitst scum.
HONEST QUESTION... What cool stuff is happening in your world?
I'm sequestered in rural central Kentucky in an old house which has a fire in the fireplace and I have a plate full of my wife's cabbage rolls in my lap.

Cool thing in my world is, all three sons home for the holidays including one from Australia. He made me promise to smoke some baby back ribs so I'll be doing that for about 15-20 people.

Instead of all the whining like prepubescent bitches ... post up cool chit in your world.
Tikka and his Utah Lexus trail rides.
Sam and his doggie punching.
STX and his fox.
Jim and his sheep escapades.
Renny and his CiCi tales.
If life is so dull that all you have to do is complain in cyberspace... don't.
We just planted a "Savana" pasture in Long Leaf pines. One or two wild coveys of Bobwhite ever spring... trying to help them out.
Designing and building a new cartridge 9.3 x 51... should be a screamer. More later.

Cool. What's a savanah pasture, as in "The Savanah?"
More of a Georgia pine "Savanna"... kind of a ironic quail habitat... kinda like this we hope.
Id love to follow a pair of good pointers again! I grew up chasing quail, my Dad raised and trained bird dogs in my youth and Ive spent many a Saturday just me and a dog or 2 hunting all day by ourselves. I haven't seen a covey in TN in more years than I can count.

Cool... My mom used to do some version of that (short ribs maybe?... cheaper than "normal ribs")... boiled them in water/beer then baked with a homemade sauce... pretty good stuff... not idea if it passes "authentic" muster, but I could a whole plateful..
A lot of restaurants parboil their ribs to save time. Nothing wrong with that but to a purist, it's like telling a Texan they need beans in their chili....

It is dismaying how often good, reasonable threads are turned in to a septic tank. I can't blame guys for leaving this forum. The mods ought to crack down on the bs.

Damn, how long does that take?
Not sure. Less than a day, she puts em in in the morning and I eat them at night
And here I sit celebrating my 60th with Gibson #2 while I hear the sear of chicken for the picatta my son is cooking. This place, for me, was all about technical stuff that wasn't just guns and hunting. For some years I no longer have a need for that as such I have toned way down. I read what I choose and now comment on little. Fine with me.
I agree with that. Like I said, it’s all general observations. I just know that a lot of boomers I talk to still think in terms of things being “stupid” and that certain things will never “work” without realizing those aren’t the proper criteria for evaluating things.
I know.
Personally, I truly believe that what's going on is Satanic. I didn't think in those terms 20 years ago. But it's become impossible for me to not see it.
"Good is evil and evil is good"
Just like the Bible said it would be in the end.
Rona death again... and again...and again...and again...and again?
It is all so very confusing.
Please help Roy...

That's badass, but you might wanna try 6011 welding rods, because your weld SUCK.
About 500 hours in making that... and about $2k in spray paint?
Just asking... not trying to be rude.
PLEASE... do not have Seafire send me another PM about how awesome you are... what you and he have can be 100% on the "Down Low" as far as I (and many) are concerned. Thanks

All his 10-12 ball licking old timer minions chiming in and piling on. Single em out and cut em from the herd, they get squirrelly and go hide on facebook and slap on the Ignore force field

that is a good looking stove. I'm addicted to these "hot tent" video on youtube of guys out camping in the middle of winter with a stove in their tent.
it looks fun but the entire camping event is 3 things - setting up the tent and stove while freezing your ass off, gathering and chopping wood while freezing your ass off and then cooking a meal in a tent that is 82 degrees.
to me that's the stuff you do, so you can do other stuff like hike or hunt, that's not the point of going camping. That's probably why I have never gone camping in February before.

Yeah even to this day you mention his name and if certain people think you are talking negatively about him get super pissed..
Every public forum goes through periods of people posting nonsense instead of relevant interesting topics. Sometimes the good posters leave and the forum dies. Sometimes the nonsense goes away because the posters get bored or are ignored and the forum survives.

Yes they are... and some really great stuff there.
Local guy... owner... https://brentandbeckysbulbs.com just called and offered me as many Daffodil bulbs as I want (he is closing the season/warehouse for winter... and swimming in excess)...
Time and energy to plant hundreds/thousands of bulbs... would make a heck of a sub-forum topic... It would also really pop the driveway.
Wife is game... but do I/we have the time/energy for the project (whole driveway/road)? OH BOY?
FYI... bulbs are great gifts (birthday/Christmas et al) for moms and wives. Women love that stuff.
God has always done this to me... take a perfectly normal day... then throw a crazy random "cool as dope" curve-ball at ya. It really is quite amazing to just let go of the wheel sometimes.

Meth and opioid use becoming more common in all age groups. Especially in the Appalachian region, just seems to be a stronger foothold there. Meth is pretty much available anywhere in the country while prescribed opioid use is quite popular with the older age groups.
In 2016, Tennessee was the third-highest prescriber of opioids.

Thanks for the stove pictures. What size did you make it?
Jim, the body of the stove is 12" square tube cut to what length I don't remember off the top of my head. One thing I would do different is have more space above the door inside for smoke so I didn't have to be so slow opening the door to keep it from boiling out into the room. As long as I crack the stove and let the air in slowly as I open the door the smoke clears out fine. It runs me out of the trailer if I give it more than half air so most of the time it's just simmering to keep it comfortable in winter weather. Any more than that and you're throwing the door open, rain or shine.

Thanks. That tube makes for a nice way to build one. I follow you on the door and the opening. I've seen that on other stoves and even the Vermont Casting stove in our home. I'll try to avoid that in mine. I can imagine that stove getting too hot on your trailer. I've got a wall tent which of course isn't as tight or insulated as well. Ordered my stove pipe just now so I can determine the size of tube on top of the stove. It's amazing at just how much of this stuff is not in stock.

Hard to get alot of things now. Who would have imagined that in the USA? The communists are winning.
Yes. It amazed me to look online at some of these stove suppliers and they didn't have any in stock. The 4Dog stoves aren't even on their website right now except the titanium models. I've got a pretty good shop with most everything I need to build a stove so the commie scum won't keep me from having that! I did call John at Bravo Tents today and got the nesting stove pipe coming. That's where I got my tent. He aint a commie either. Nice people to deal with.

Politically speaking the downward spiral began with Bill and Hillary Clinton. George Stephanopolis, James 'Cue Ball' Carville, Terry McCaulif. The Clinton war room and all that went with it. While it existed for 100 years prior, the the politics of personal destruction exponentially grew during this era and has since become relentless.
I'm still quite a bit younger than those two cretins, and I'll lift a glass if I see them leave this Earth. God only knows how many minor girls Bill Clinton has had on pedo island, he's the devil's spawn.
Overall, the downward spiral began in the late 60's-70's with Marxist hippies getting educated and becoming tenured professors. 35-50 years olds are now damaged goods and teaching themselves.

Sir, you are one of the four. The rest of us are very tired of your balderdash.
Are you saying Jag is one of the four that turned the campfire? and if so how? I suspect you're simply too stupid to understand how the forum works..... being a liberal and all
Where’s Ol Flave? Did he get banned again? Perhaps a super secret squirrel mission for the White House? Like handing out gift cards at the border??
according to one poster he was the tanned guy in the tv screenshot jackmountain put up....my guess is he got moneyed up for his supporting role and is looking for more work.....the old adage....find something you love to do and it will never be work.....bob
