You get blasted like the Weather Channel said? We got some cold and wind, that's what January is for. Nothing else to do, might as well gripe about the weather.

We're not supposed to get much snow or ice accumulation here in my area (West KY) this go-around. So far maybe an inch or two of rain snow mix with highs in the 30s and 40s, lows in the teens and 20s predicted. Sounds like per the video the worst is supposed to be west and then move south of where I live, then east. Got 3" - 4" inches of dry powdery snow last week but it all had melted off in 3 days.
It’s climate change!

Oh wait, maybe it’s just called “winter”.
Monday could be interesting for us,maybe 10-12" of snow.
Not a huge deal.we get it every year.
Ice is worse, imo
Plan ahead and be safe.
BUT BUT BUT BUT GLOBAL WARMING !!!!!!!

I agree with TP, It's winter,

Last Saturday, it s freezing here, Sunday lows mid 40's Upper 70s by afternoon, Up and down weather, like always.....
Looks like fun for some folks... that was the prediction a day or so ago.

Cold settled in last night, foot of snow on the way. Wood stove is cranking, coffee is brewing and getting ready to throw together some Taco soup in the crock pot.. Ready for a nice winter weekend.
YEAH GET SOME.
y'all are welocome to it.
having one of the nicest winters I can remember here in CO.
we are second only to AZ for number of sunny days per year.
From what I’ve seen, this area is gonna get a pile of snow on account of the cold air.
Channel 10 (CBS) local said that usually 10” of snow is equal to about an inch of rain.
This storm is more like 15” snow to an inch of rain. It’ll pile up quickly.
No big deal. I’ve survived a few dozen snowstorms. Just stay off the road unless you absolutely have to be somewhere. If you have to travel, leave early and allow plenty of time.
When it stops snowing, you dig yourself out.
They always act like it’s the end of the world, because fear means tv ratings, and that means $.
7mm

Looks like Nashville,TN could get hammered pretty hard with ice and snow mix. Same for parts of Georgia and the Carolinas.

Pretty significant snow accumulations of snow possible for parts of Arkansas, too.
This makes for a good Nordic meme:

Raining cats N dogs here in north central Arkansas, near-bout dark.
Next 10 days in so Idaho: partly cloudy, highs low 30s, lows upper teens to low 20's. Looks like more of a boring January.
Snow sucks, but at least it doesn't get deep in your house like it does when it isn't frozen.

^^^THIS^^^

It's total fake news to push their BS.

This is about as average as it gets. We'll get 6" and then it'll turn to sleet, then turn to pouring down freezing rain. That 6" of snow will turn to 4" of solid ice. Then the trees will start coming down. I'll probably lose power for 3 days. That's just my prediction. The guys that I deal with in the interior in Western MD and NE PA are supposed to get about 18".
Calling for 18" here where i live and 40mph wind. Fine with that excpet i have to drive to pittsburgh monday and tow back a 35' trailer over the laurel highlands. Not even remotely looking forward to that lol

We got blasted in the Des Moines metro. The folks east of us are about to get blasted as well. Chitcago is getting it today.

ya this crap is changing my plans. i'm at camp in SC PA and was looking forward to celebrating MLK day in the least diverse place i know. probably pack up tomorrow and ride it out at home. got beer and a woodstove there too so i'm not too bummed.
supposedly 2" here tomorrow night - south of here may get 4-6.

Not much really
The weather people say we will get between 1 and 12 inches. My wife is hoping for 12 but I already told her that there is nothing 12 inches and white
Gotta go to the store and stock up on bread and milk. 😁
Has the weather channel given the storm a name yet?
Interesting.

Relative in NC says they've named the storm "Izzy?"

we don't do that out here..................it's just..............................................winter.

We got some snow up here but idk how much, it went by at 30mph. My plow guy left a little pile off the driveway just to show he had been there. Only the second time this winter he has been out so I don't blame him. We maybe got 4-5".
Got the studded tires on the trusty old f-150 and 500 lbs of sand bags stacked over the rear axel.

Let it happen.
Kids are hoping for snow but it’s looking like a good bit of ice for us between Charlotte and Greensboro. It’s been a long time since we had a bad ice storm and I’m hoping this one isn’t it. 20mph winds and up to 0.5” of ice is a $hitty recipe.

I drove 13 miles home last night with my 2 wheel drive Cheby. I have some fresh cut logs and a couple of sand bags in the back. I imagine there was 5 or 6 inches on the ground when I went home at 5:15. The worst part was on the freeway and the Interstate. Use your head and take you time is the key to success. Well, 500 lbs of sand bags helps too.

Is it freezing rain or just sleet? We had 2 inches of ice pellets last year, no big deal, but freezing rain sucks.

If worst comes to worst, I'll have to haul my wife to work tomorrow. I've already decided I won't be on the interstate.
I'm about 35 miles south of Charlotte. We have heard everything. They won't know what we will get until it gets here. The GFS model shows us getting 6" plus. European model shows it spitting. Radio says maybe 1/4" to 1/2" ice north of us. Will drink coffee in the morning and see what reality is.

Mix of both. Start out as snow and transition to sleet or freezing rain. The latter you can’t do a damn thing with and add in wind and it will be a big old bag of suck. Generator started and have a a spare gas can at the ready. Only a half gallon of milk so I’m not sure we’ll manage.
I bought a tall pair of these to go on the back of my F-150. They're made in Finland. People in Northern Europe use them on AWD SUVs and put them on all four wheels. They have 190 studs per tire.

They work pretty good on a 2WD pickup, also,...good on both snow and ice.

What are you saying.
We are diverse. We have blondes, lots of shades of brown, redheads...
my hair is blackish, with about 2% white. 180 degrees of skin color
around here. 98% white.

Rumor has it the government wants to build some housing projects
here and bring some Philly spice out to...enhance or community.
We used to have some groups that would have stopped that. They
still exist, not sure if they have the backbone they used to.

As to the subject at hand, we are about 4 miles east of I-99.
They claim that puts us in an area to get a mix. That will make things
a bunch worse.

Hope it doesn’t get like it did last year.
No storm is official until Frankie reports it. All others are fake!

Yup. That sucks. We’ve had that Shiite 4 or 5 times this winter.
