Even if Ukraine was admitted into NATO, that does not portend a massive NATO/EU offensive against Russia. Nope, Europe has no interest in conquering russian territory. Europe wants stable borders & no military activity. It is in Europe's economic/political/energy interest for russia to be a trading partner (in anything other than energy, where Putin would use that as a cudgel).

Ukraine's NATO membership was a ruse. Putin attacked Crimea in 2014 to regain a critical sea port to the free world (also why the commies took Poland and the Baltic States), and suffered no negative consequences. Lesson learned. Keep doing more until the political and economic repercussions become unbearable.

To most Ukrainians it makes no difference if it’s a Western corrupt crony capitalist/fascist government or a Russian one.

Ukraine being allowed to enter NATO would be the biggest strategic defeat for Russia in its entire history. They'd lose access to their warm water ports.

Then implies that Russia offers no ill will or bad intentions towards them. This is imbecilic at best and an outright lie in truth. The Russians have been very aggressive @ using their intelligence assets in these areas to stir up the ethnic Russian populations to create incidents and provocations. The FSB and others Russian groups activities in Poland aren’t very hard to see. Nor are the interference in Romania and its relationship with Moldavia very hard to see. This doesn’t even get into the perceived economic benefits most of these countries see from closer ties to the west.

Hey I can understand America First, and wanting to get out of international affairs. But you don’t need to outright lie to make a very strong case for doing so. The ineptitude of the CIA , and it’s congenital twin the DoS, over the last 30 years has been horrible for our country and its reputation.

Pat Buchanan has been right about allot of things many times but has it made us any better off? All the talk has not helped and will not help. We've done what we were warned not to do by Dwight Eisenhower in that the military complex is control of this nation in ways it shouldn't be. I firmly believe that's one reason so many of the high ranking brass hated him so much. He cut their lucrative pensions short and didn't let them tell him what to do. How many dollars do you all think the Bush family has received because of their willingness to send our military everywhere in the world? The only two in my lifetime that go down that road were Reagan and Trump. There were some covert things done by them but we weren't the police force of the world.
