I suspect it's a good time to buy but my doubts are getting in my way.

Gold is for bribing the border guards.

It may be a decent investment to make right now since inflation hasn't hit it yet and recession/depression appears to be on the horizon.

Silver can easily be purchased in smaller quantities and weights. A silver round could be bartered for a box of shells easier than a n eighth of a gold round.

I've learned delicious jerky is valued by just about everyone I meet. Paid for my last bit of gun work with jerky.

I think the FED will reverse course sooner than most expect. Inflation is the lesser of two evils with unemployment being the other.
