1) I use evapo rust. 2) I use washing soda in water with a +28 Volt power supply hooked up to a sacrificial steel anode and electrical return connected to the gun part.
Kroil oil and 4/0 steel wool . Stinks to hi heaven but does the trick . During hunting season I don’t worry about my go to guns and hunt them day in and day out till season is over . Then they get TLC . Got rid of my glossy pretty guns and use the economy shooters that shoot better than the glossies ever did . Keeps the tears off your fat little cheeks . Kenneth
That and some 4-ought steel wool. DUH! WD40! It is a solvent after all!
In school, I was taught - "o-u-g-h-t" My first real job, they only accepted "n-a-u-g-h-t". You aren't the first I've seen use "a-u-g-h-t" The city couldn't understand anything but "z-e-r-o"
I never would let a firearm rust! Anyone who would is neither a man nor worthy of using up the oxygen and other resources that should only go to people who have value!
Note: I am not claiming this to be true for me, I am just providing a medium for those who are worthy to add a +1 and save them the trouble of typing it all out.
Persiandog: DON'T say that word! I was born and raised and lived the first 49 years of my life in "rust" country! NONE of my guns have ANY "rust" on them - and I own a LOT of guns. Back when I lived in rust country (west slope of the rainy Cascade Mountains and just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean I quickly learned to never let you firearms rust! No matter how tired I was after a day of busting through wet brush in the Cascades, or on the soggy always rainy Skagit Flats or through the Rain Forest of the Olympic Peninsula I would dry and clean my guns - THOROUGHLY. Haven't had a rusty gun of my own in 60+ years now. BUT... alas I have some friends, currently, who often let rust start on their Rifles and shotguns. I use well lubricated very fine steel wool and Break-Free on their external rusty spots to try and stop the effects of the rusting on the metal. Works pretty well I might add. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
