Hard to believe that his skinny little mama had a kid that size. But her mother was 5'2 and *might* have weighed 105 when we got married and she had big babies too. My daughter who just had the baby weighed 9 lbs 12 ounces. Even the Doctor was impressed.

Congrats!

2 granddaughters here. 4 and 1. I took the 4 year old on a little adventure yesterday and later when my wife was taking them to meet their Mom, 4 yo told the wife that I'm the "PERFECT Papa!"

So now that that pressure is off, have fun with them anyway! haha

Seriously, they are a trip. You'll have a lot of fun with that boy.

If they lived closer and I wasn't so gimped up I'm sure it would be a situation I would appreciate.

But he'll be well taken care of. His Mom's a dentist and his Father is a financial planner. His childhood will be big houses and upscale European cars.

I could sure show him how to pull bluegill out of a farm pond with a yellow curly tail given the opportunity, however.

I could also show him some slick tricks that could be done with a Bridgeport and a Hardinge lathe. But I wouldn't do that to him. Tool and Die is a bad addiction,..and it saps one's creative energy so much that they'll never be good for anything else.
Congratulations! Youโ€™ll no doubt be the cool grandpa with guns and tractors.

Congratulation Bristoe. I became a grandfather a couple of months ago. A 10# 13oz'er.

Congratulations Bristoe!

There are few things I treasure more than the childhood memories of spending ample time with both of my grandfathers.

They were both men of honor and substance.

You will never be the same.
Grandkids, particularly grandsons, change a man.
Grandsons are the only part of getting old, worth getting old for. They can keep the rest of it.
Congrats

I was thinking I should take the new arrival a gift. I asked my wife about it. She suggested a silver cup and spoon. I was considering a chainsaw.

Congrats! Grampa is the best job ever.

A chainsaw sounds good- but make sure he has one of them "corn popper" pull toys that make an infernal racket when he drags it around.

22" long. He's not going to be able to ride sport bikes either.

Birthdays seem to piss him off for some reason. He should be happy that he's got hair.

Welcome to the Grand kid club.

I have 4 one girl and 3 boys with a Great grand Daughter about 8 months old.

The grand kids are made for spoiling and can be trying at time but are just generally plain fun to have around.

We get the 3 grandsons for the summer and it is a hoot.

Very cool, gramps. I've got 9 grandkids, 6 girls 3 boys ages 16 to 3.

My 6 year old grandson punches above his weight.
At any moment I could be attacked. Like inspector Clouseau being attacked by cato.

It is called "rough housing". This boy needs a lot of rough housing.

Any boxing or wrestling moves I show him, he uses on me.
