To plug over 10,000 Orphan Oil and gas wells in 24 states.

Forbes, WSJ
If a solvent company ever owned the wells It goes back to them to pay for plug and abandonment. It sucks for a successful company. They sell an asset in good faith another company buys it. They milk anything that they can get don't spend anything on maintenance then take bankruptcy and the company that sold it gets stuck with the bill.
Toot toot with the breaking news.

It can and has worked that way in the Gulf of Mexico and onshore. The costs will find their way back to the deep pockets.

Supposedly some of this 560 million$ will be siphoned off to promote more green energy wind generation.

Ol'toot has copied and pasted covid statisitics for literally 10s' of people !
Be careful who you call out !
I’m pretty sure that if the wells were being capped by private companies without .gov involvement the whole operation would cost 5% to 10% of the .gov project.

I realize that you’re a self promoted, celebrated author who’s tomes have regularly appeared on the NYT’s best sellers list.

Lots of absolute idiots write articles and books for publication in case you missed that point.

No less the many cases right here at The Campfire.

According to the EPA of all human activities that produce methane landfill methane constitutes 20% of the total of those GHG’s (green house gases).

Is there a kid around that can move the dollar currency symbol into the correct place for you? Thanks
Loving seeing the low IQ howler monkeys squall!

Laughing!
That works out to 56,000 per well. That is not near enough money. Not even in the ball park. It would cost that to bring the equipment to the well site before they start work.

Good point.

I don’t know if they’ll simply bring in a wireline unit and just set a plug in a landing nipple and call it good or if they’ll figure on a cement type of plug and abandon. You’d think that they’d want to plug the production tubing and the annulus between the tubing and production casing.
Yes cement. Plug in a landing nipple has to be tested annually in the gulf. If you dump concrete on top of a plug it is considered temporary abandonment and no longer requires testing. Permanent requires tested cement in tubing and annulus. On land I figure the requirements are cheaper and less stringent.
