Happy birthday to the Singing Cowboy. He was nearly 50 before TV's were becoming common. He was awarded 5 stars on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, more than any other entertainer.

Actually John Wayne started out as a singing cowboy in the Thirties.

Eddie Dean may have had the best singing voice.

Autry got started before Rogers but Rogers ended up as the most popular cowboy singer of them all. Rogers actually appeared in bit parts in some Autry shows before breaking out on his own. Once he got started, it didn't take long before he surpassed Autry in popularity.

I believe Gene Autry was a big gun collector, too.

Had some business savvy too. Worth half a billion when he went tits up.

So was Roy Rogers. Rogers was a huge supporter of the Second Amendment.
