Happy birthday to the Singing Cowboy. He was nearly 50 before TV's were becoming common. Actually John Wayne started out as a singing cowboy in the Thirties. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Don't you mean John Wayne TRIED to sing? Eddie Dean may have had the best singing voice.

Autry got started before Rogers but Rogers ended up as the most popular cowboy singer of them all. Rogers actually appeared in bit parts in some Autry shows before breaking out on his own. Once he got started, it didn't take long before he surpassed Autry in popularity.
