How did it get to Montana before someone noticed it?
Where was it launched from? Ship at sea, mainland China, Canada?
All you had to do was click on the link and read the article:
"The high-altitude balloon was spotted over Billings, Montana, on Wednesday - having flown in above the Aleutian Islands, through Canada, and into Montana."
How do we know it’s Chinese. I tracked a few high altitude weather balloons that flew over AK when I was AD. They came from Russia and radar picked them up just like it was an aircraft. It’s got to come down sometime.

US is monitoring Chinese spy balloon that has been floating over Montana for the past several days
You mean to say.... that a balloon is stationary ? How is that possible ? or maybe it's just hovering over Montana ? How is that possible being a balloon and all ?
Chinese surveillance balloon forecasted travel map track
Officials are currently tracking a Chinese surveillance balloon that is currently flying through the U.S. and moving southeast and is expected to be over somewhere SE Missouri tomorrow
Ok I stand corrected and have read about it on websites other than Daily Mail. I can also relate to a time I had an Intel Officer lie straight to my face and a 1 and 3 star General, and a room full of Colonels and tell us the picture of a certain country’s military aircraft over US soil could not be as their HUMINT POC didn’t tip them so it had to be false.

Eat a digk. The Alaskan folk will be taken out by Vampires. Don’t like it? GFY

14k meters? Call the man from Wyoming, he’ll knock the antenna off
The fact that the fire hillbillies think the Chinese could float a balloon from China to Montana and no one knew till it hit the thriving metropolis of Billings Montana show why there are so many stupid threads started every day.
Well, I posted it in the other thread so I'll post it here too. I was out back with my dog Wednesday afternoon. I looked up and saw something in the sky. I watched it for a couple of minutes thinking to myself. "Huy, look at that, a weather balloon." I decided to take a picture (below). Here's what it looked like from my yard in Billings About 24 hours later I learned this is a national news story. Go figure. For you frame of reference since my picture is cropped. When that was overhead and I was looking at it, the visual size would have been about 1/10 of the appearance of the size of a full moon.

Realizing that the questions I asked were not actually answered in the damned article for someone with critical thinking skills - who's the dumb fu-ckk? Read for content and context.
They reverse engineered where it may have flown.
What I asked is how it flew that route without being noticed (reported on) until it hit Montana. Given a balloon is moving on a stream of air - you do not know where it was placed WITHIN that stream of air just by looking at the reverse engineered courst of where that stream flows. It managed to make it a long way and over US airspace and an ally without being reported on until it hit Montana. No pictures, no news.
They didn't do briefings internally on it till Wednesday but reported it to the public Thursday - you believe it was launched from China, crossed into Alaskan air space to trigger the briefings and made Montana in a day - floating along?
So again - the article doesn't ANSWER the question of
1. How did it get there before being noticed - given the reverse engineer course claims it went thousands of miles and believing that course/timeline?
2. Where was it launched from? Ship at sea, mainland China or Canada because not getting concerned about it till it hit US air space and briefing Sec Def on Wed doesn't make sense given the route being offered?
RE 1 and 2 - The SECOND it crosses Aleutian or Alaskan air space - that's a "wake the President" event, - he wasn't told till yesterday per the article. So it didn't cross the Aleutians/Alaska and make Montana in the same day. How is it no one noticed it till it hit Montana if it traveled that far. Likely it didn't travel that far - as most realistic answer.
No one can show the damned thing floating over anything but Montana (that I've seen) - so where was it introduced in the air stream (and how) to make Montana without someone seeing it or thinking to have a briefing on it before WEDNESDAY after traveling thousands of miles over a 5 Eyes ally in Canada at the minimum? Memphis is on the Mississippi river - a boat in New Orleans may have passed it but there's no guarantee it was on the river upstream of NOLA to do so - that's what I'm saying here with the route the article posts and the timeline reported. Doesn't work.

If you look close there is a message on the side "Biden 2024"
This is less about spying our our nuclear sites (they already do that with satelites) than it is about perfecting a way to spread bio-pathogens over the US in the event of war. It's nothing more than a high-tech version of Japanese balloon bombs from WWII.
It’s going to be somewhere north of 80,000 feet. Very very difficult to intercept anything at that altitude. And nothing we have is designed to intercept a fabric bag full of helium traveling at the speed of the wind at that height.

Fuuuuck PedoBiden, that old bastard is so corrupt and senile that he has completely knocked out Niiger Obama AND Bill MoFo Clinton as the Worst Presidents.

Great possibility that's true.
In case you missed it, brigadier general Pat Ryder just confirmed in a press briefing that the balloon is maneuverable. Any guesses on how that’s done? Did anybody pick up on his deflecting of the questions posed on the subject other than it’s classified? Is everybody still convinced that weather systems can’t be steered/controlled? You’re witnessing evolving technologies… Also tied to the videos of UFOs with no heat signatures…

Are you saying that the balloon is being maneuvered via controlling the weather?
I'd think the most likely answer would be maneuvered via solar powered props much like a toy drone?
If it's maneuverable - that whole "this is the air stream it must have floated over on" is BS right? It could have been launched MUCH closer to the US rather than what the narrative is, which naturally means actors inside Canada. (again, why no pictures prior to Montana?)
Regardless - it does show China is intent on either starting a war (and no president will stop that, may delay but not stop) or simply kicking people in the shins hoping they start the war themselves.

Or being used to Control/Influence the Weather. MfM is correct that it's being done and this may be being used for that.
Surprised they didn't frame Russia for this "spy" ballon.
How did they conclude it is Chinese, I probably missed something....seems like whoever the culprit is, they weren't really trying to be clandestine. How do you hide a ballon as big as 3 buses and expect to get away with it? Anytime our government says ANYTHING, I smell a rat!
Are you saying that the balloon is being maneuvered via controlling the weather?
Kind of…it all started with the research done at the HAARP station up in Alaska…that only lasted a few years until they became aware of the possibilities of the technologies they were experimenting with. Then the facility was turned over to the University of Alaska (nothing to see here)… It’s the reason the pentagon spokesman couldn’t be baited into talking about how the “balloon”is being controlled/maneuvered. Quantum physics/mechanics at work…

Could not possibly have anything to do with changing altitude to catch the wind blowing most closely to the dsired direction.
They already have several thousand spies on North American soil, what do they need to be up in the air for?
Really, The Chins are probably laughing their asses off at the knee-jerk reaction Americans are displaying over this "spy" balloon
Do you really think they would do something so blatantly recognizable and obvious? I really think it is a civilian research balloon. Then again, it could be a dry run of some sort.....
Why did our security apparatus allow this air born monstrosity to enter our air space? IMO, anything of that sort that is not identifiable should be destroyed long before it reaches these shores. The problem is Westerly winds could spread pathogens inland even if the craft is shot down outside US air space.

The fact those bidenettes running our defense remain mum on this doesn't surprise me....but
Pretty disappointed this thing got past Big Schtick without some sort of response........
If you're an American citizen wondering how Washington DC could spend $850+B of your tax dollars on defense annually and yet can't manage to shoot down a foreign spy balloon in US air space - you're not crazy & you're not the only one thinking it.
Where are the bullets/missile debris going after they pass through the balloon??? Everywhere you point to shoot has an unsafe backstop.....
Back in the 80's, whilst I was working at Miami ARTCC, an air traffic facility, the balloon/small blimp that was tethered over Cudjoe Key slipped it's mooring and went drifting across the gulf trailing a MILE or so of tether.....
A concerned boater decided to rescue same and tied it off to his boat...... well this was early in the day, and as the sun warmed things up the balloon became more buoyant, lifted the boat out of the water, dumped all occupants into the gulf, and proceeded to drift across the gulf once again...
That thing is likely at 80,000 feet of higher. What are we going to shoot it down with. That’s beyond the operational ceiling of anything we have as far as aircraft go. And it’s likely made of Mylar with us invisible to radar. Likely all the cables and equipment underneath is made from composites as well. Probably got the radar signature or a housefly. It gives off no heat either.
So, how are you going to shoot it down? All of our missiles use radar or heat. Nothing to lock on. It’s too high for a gun run. It’s beyond the service ceiling of any fighter we have. They could do a zoom climb and get there but then to zoom climb and do a gun run on something that is basically moving at walking speed? Sounds really tough.
It’s really kind of an ingenious relatively low tech solution. We don’t have anything designed to shoot down balloons at more than 80,000 feet.

Maybe we won't pop it because of the possibility that it has a Wheat Rot bacteria in it. In the 70s, the US studied the possibility of deploying weapons that targeted the enemy's food sources. Principally using a wheat rot bacteria that kills and/or prevents the wheat grain head from developing, and deploying in the air and using the winds to spread it.
The Chicoms are dirty bastards and I have no doubt they have all this in their hip pocket in the event of war. Hell, we probably handed them our studies on it.

To what end? China imports a lot of wheat from the US.

The Chicoms will survive. They've already proven they don't care about their billion plus peasants. Mao said if you kill a million of us, you only help us. China will cut off its own nose to spite its face in a war.

Mylar shows up quite well on radar. Back when I was doing the SAR thing, our C-144s would pick up mylar balloons on the surface of the gulf on radar from 5 miles away. If the balloon has even a minimal sensor package in it, I suspect our radar systems can see it. Further, if it's transmitting anything electronically, I suspect we can "see" that as well. I suspect we have laser guided systems and visually guided systems that will work as well.

What to do??
Scamble jets out of homestead......
they chose a missile, problem solved!
The balloon is at 60,000 ft. I don't believe there are any jets out of Homestead that can get anywhere close to that height.
Why would the Chinese government be flying a large stratospheric balloon? It is possible that the balloon's flight termination system failed. ERIC BERGER - 2/3/2023 | Ars Technica
"The balloon's flight raises several questions—such as, just what the heck is it doing there? This story will address what is known and not known about the flight. The information below is based on public statements, other news reports, and an interview with a stratospheric balloon expert, Andrew Antonio, whose company, Urban Sky, is developing the world’s first reusable stratospheric balloons for remote sensing."

Meanwhile 2nd balloon confirmed... no word about the suspected 2nd (or 3rd?) balloon over Canada?
OAN Geraldyn Berry UPDATED 5:06 PM PT – Friday, February 3, 2023
A second Chinese spy balloon has reportedly been spotted in Latin America.
On Friday evening, the Pentagon confirmed this news. Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder made a statement to CNN.
“We are seeing reports of a balloon transiting Latin America. We now assess it is another Chinese surveillance balloon,” Ryder said.
This comes as a balloon was spotted moving east, 60,000 feet above the central continental U.S., last Friday.
Initially, the Pentagon had said the balloon currently did not pose a “military or political” threat.
According to a senior defense official, the United States has “extremely high confidence” that the object was a Chinese high-altitude balloon that was flying over key locations to gather intelligence. One of the states where the balloon was noticed was Montana, which is home to Malmstrom Air Force Base, one of the country’s three nuclear missile silo fields.
Ryder has said that the U.S. took steps to ensure it did not collect sensitive information.
45th President Donald Trump and other Republicans are criticizing President Joe Biden’s administration for not knocking the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon out of the sky.
On Friday, a Pentagon representative said that the eavesdropping abilities of the balloon are no more advanced than those of China’s existing low-Earth orbit surveillance satellites. It was claimed that bringing the balloon down would produce a “substantial” amount of debris, which may harm or kill people on the ground.
The balloon is at 60,000 ft. I don't believe there are any jets out of Homestead that can get anywhere close to that height.
The Us and Russia botrh broke 90,000 feet prior to 1960. The Us with the F104, Russia with the SU9. The rocket assisted JF104 broke 120,000 feet altitude. The F15 can "zoom" to 90,000. The F16 nearly makes it.
No, a stationary (or neaqrly so) target at 60,000 feet is no challenge.
Heck, we have SAMs which are claimed to be capable of 130,000 feet.
That's odd.... I read that it is now over MO near a B 1 Bomber base? Whoever the Pentagon spokes person is comes across as a total weasel. Not very reassuring.

If we had done something like this to Chinkerland those little bastards would be foaming at the mouth screaming about their sovereignty and shooting missiles all over Taiwan by now. We have NO leadership from the HNIC because PedoJoe is a bag of hot air and has been his whole sorry life. Fck him, fck his whole family, and fck everybody in Washington D.C.
If the balloon is over Missouri what just blew up over Billings Montana ?
That weasel Pentagon guy basically said "we are not telling you anything... look up in the sky for yourself..." so who knows how many balloons are up there.
Tucker reported one was down to 47000 feet and almost collided with an airliner...
Our satellites that can read a licence plate from space must be concentrating on Russia/Ukraine. Probably a test. I want to hear more about this private sector in China. Surveillance technology deployed by the Chinese private sector. Right, lol
