Wal Mart deli sells fried chicken livers by the pound. Surprisingly, they are good as any you’ll find.

Luv em. Gizzards, livers, and hearts.
Posted By: 7mmbuster Re: Fried chicken livers - 02/04/23
Love em. Every time we fired up the grill, me & Dad a bunch to put in there.
I don’t know anybody else eat them, but we fought over them!
When we went catfishing at Shawnee lake, we’d get a pound to use for bait, and caught a bunch of fish.
When them damn 17 year cicadas hatched, Ben and my nephew caught a pile of them!
We went fishing that evening, and it was crazy!
The kids were worried about taking catfish off the hook, and Dave and I had to set down our beer to take them off.
It got bad enough where I quit baiting my hook, so I had time for beer!

Some folks would quickly starve if it was down to livers & gizzards. Good stuff. Great gravy.

Wild turkey liver, the best liver I've ever tasted. But will back up here, wild turkey gizzard the worst gizzard I've had. Diet maybe.

All of it, chopped up and fried in sausage or bacon grease makes the best damn gravy for the morning biscuits and gravy... of course topped with a little coarse ground black pepper and Tabasco.

Hi end, truly top notch Southern cuisine place down town has a really good plate of chicken livers…really good. Whenever we go there the boys get them (and a bunch of other stuff) for appetizers. I really enjoy them, but probably good to limit consumption for those of us subject to gout.

Deer liver is pretty damn good and we usually toss in a couple deer livers when making Braunschweiger.

My father used to cook deer hearts, also pickled them. While they were pretty good I, personally, would prefer the hanging tenderloins or backstraps over any organ meat.

This. And when requested to not cook so long they claim they have to. Don't know if that's from health depth or what.

Go Chicken Go has the best gizzards I have ever had.

This, and most places overcook beef liver 3x making it turn a shade green. Crap.

Get calf liver cut 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick, soak in milk a few hours, dredge in flour and fry to medium pink. Delish.

They also make a Po Boy with them, but I haven't had one yet.

Love them both. If you have grown up a little hard, you learn to eat pretty much anything. I've had MOUNTAIN OYSTERS, HOG BRAINS, SQUIRREL BRAINS, but I don't eat pig feet or beef tongue !!!!
Posted By: Vic_in_Va Re: Fried chicken livers - 02/05/23
There was an old couple that lived next door to me that would accept every squirrel I could kill. I didn't even have to skin/clean, he could get 4 done before I could one. So, I started hunting squirrels pretty heavily. After turning over the second trip's results, he asked me to "Kindly not shoot them in the head, we eat the brains. They are marvelous with eggs".

So, I started lung-shooting them.

I got to hunt, didn't have to fool with the squirrels, and they got to eat plenty of brains and eggs with gravy.
