Was recently watching a show on netflix and J.K. Simmons popped in. He is rarely a leading man but such a great character actor in so many shows and movies. Another one of my favorites is Stephen Root who was the judge in Justified, the crazy guy in office space and lots more. There are a lot of these guys or gals that really make the show. Bruce Dern is another great one. I am always using imdb when watching a show wondering where I have seen this or that actor before.
This guy was a good one too. Brion James. Was in a ton of stuff from the 70s until his death. A lot of B movies but some big ones too. Sometimes with a goatee. He was instantly recognizable but no one ever knew who he was.

Who and what roles have you guys appreciated?
Harry Dean Stanton.
Even when he is the main character, he is still a character actor.

I remember him I. Eddie Murphy’s Nick Nolte’s “48 Hours” and “Another 48 Hours”. He played a cop buddy of Nick Nolte’s and ended up being the bad guy that was trying to kill Eddie Murphy’s character in both films. And in lots of other good movies in the 80’s and 90’s.
My two favorite character actors of all time would have to be ole Ben Johnson and Ward Bond.
Burton Gilliam He's been in a couple of the dealers I've worked at with his vehicle in for service. Really nice dude. Not a stuck up a hole at all. He did infomercials for one place I worked at all decked out in chaps and the cowboy garb talking about how great the place was I'm pretty sure he was the first one to fart in the blazing saddles bean scene
Steve Buscemi is another great one. Quentin Tarantino and the Coen brothers utilized him to great effect along with many other great supporting actors in their films. Harvey Kietel, Walton Goggins, William H. Macy were all pretty good.
