Almost 73 years old, and this is the first year that I've heard it called that.

Same here - and am a good bit older than that - maybe it's been used earlier and my hearing didn't pick it up. I ain't really leaping into it though - some jaw surgery scheduled.

In Ireland, February 29th was the only day women were allowed to propose marriage.

Those born on the 29th of February stay very young, since they mark only a quarter of the birthdays of everyone else.

My black bitch, a lovely little girl named Layla, a black female mixed breed beagle size mutt, turns three years old on February 29. Well, really twelve years old. She was born on February 29, 2012. Happy Birthday Layla!

Leap year has a leap day. I don't think that's anything new.

Pretty amazing they figured out the need for it back in the BC days.

You wouldn't want them to be flocking around you seeking your hand in marriage.

Look up 1752. Britain lost 11 days one month when the switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian.

Being that workers got paid daily and rents were due monthly, people got pissed.

I would imagine that the bitching ran second only to the current bitching about DST.

I was married on this day 40 years ago.

Or was it 10 years ago?
Posted By: wabigoon Re: Leap Day - 02/29/24
I've lived through twenty of them..
