Hi All:
This is Rick's wife, Terah. I am usually a woman of few words on the forums. But, tonight Rick was checked into the hospital with peritonitis. He will see a surgeon in the morning. He has been not well for a few days. Today it got to be too much, so we went to the emergency. He has diverticulitis and the wall became perforated. He has been in excruciating pain since Friday night. I always appreciate all the christian support on these forums. Please pray for his healing.
Happy Father's Day to all of the great dads!
God Bless.

Terah,
Sorry to hear about Rick. Prayers from Maine are on the way.I to have the same condition and don't look forward to such an event. They say certain foods will lodge in these pockets and cause irritation such as Rick is experiencing. Nuts and whole grains can cause this irritation.............I love nuts and whole grains!
Did they find this condition while doing a Colonoscopy? That is how they found mine. They say these pockets are caused by straining to much when we go to the bathroom. The same thing that can cause hemroids can cause these pockets to develop. Drinking plenty of water can reduce constipation which can help reduce the straining.
Keep us posted as to his condition.
Get well soon..........
From the woods of Maine,
Mark
Terah,
Good luck to you and Rick--I hope the doctors take as good care of him as you both take of the Campfire readers/customers!

you all both have my thoughts and prayers. hope a speedy recovery in in the works.
glad to hear Rick made it through surgery ok !! Do for sure make sure he has access to the web!
several have asked: the peritoneum is the lining of the abdominal cavity. Peritonitis is an inflammation and/or infection of the same. It can become so in numerous ways but in Rick's case (based on Terah's post) it sounds like there may have been a perforation or leakage of part of the intestinal tract, thus allowing bacteria into the normally sterile abdomen.
it is common in dogs because they tend to eat things that perforate the intestine. happens to all species though.
we're pullin' for you Rick !! hope to be kept aprised of your progress. my family wishes you the best!
And......I called the lawyers for the "Take home chef" but they won't return my calls.
Keep after 'em. They don't want

The shaman, all bleary-eyed from sleep, came out of his tent and began reading the latest on the Campfire.
"Oh, drat!" he said, as he read about all he had missed over the weekend.
He immediately left the 'fire and wandered out into his front yard. Facing generally West, he began to shake his rattle and chant.
"There," he said, after quite a while. "I hope that helps."
Somewhere out in Utah, it began to rain carp, but after all, it's the thought that counts, not the aim.
My sincere best wishes for Rick's full and speedy recovery and hope that he will be back here soon!
Prayers for a speedy and complete recovery are on their way from my family.

I asked my wife (RN) what exactly was peritonitis? She explained it to me and it sounds like Rick is doing good to be out of surgery and recovering. She explained that it is basically like a ruptured appendix and that he was lucky to make it to surgery.
Glad to hear he is doing better. Prayers sent for Rick, Terah and family.
Man, the things that happen when you're gone for a couple days...
The Bin family has my very best wishes for Rick's quick and complete recovery. I hope to see him back here soon!

 Rick has a "Trophy" wife.
Trophy in this case, an appellation that's both accurate and inadequate. There's only one Terah, and since she can belong to only one man, I'm glad that she's Rick's.
He's in good hands.*
*( and soon, I hope, a whole lot less of a burden!
Up and out of there ASAP, Rick!)
Just walked in and saw this.....Prayers sent and fingers crossed :-) Hope Rick is up and feeling top notch ASAP.

My friend the late Russ Carpenter was in the blind to the right of mine. A flight of geese took-off in the distance, flew first to our left, then curved around toward us, and flew over the line of blinds directly above Russ's blind. On the single BANG! of his twelve-gauge, two Canadas folded into limp blobs and dropped out of line. They hit the ground, plop, plop, close behind his blind. I called him "Lucky" for the rest of his life. (Russ just grinned.)
Russ is gone now and Rick, I'm very hopefully nominating you to be the next guy whom we all call "Lucky."
Get well soon, Hermanito!

WOW! I haven't checked in all day. I can't begin to let you all know how much the support and prayers and jokes help. The running "or....Laugh,Cough,Throw up, etc..." gag is keeping me chuckling. To everybody, everybody, everybody......thank you for the prayers, they're even better than the jokes. Mickey, you got a stock you need painted?
Terah
Terah ...
I take it that Rick is doing well, and everyone is relatively happy in the Bin household?
I can only assume, by your last post, that everyone is doing great ... and that's wonderful news!
Get well soon. Thoughts & prayers. Ken
The running "or....Laugh,Cough,Throw up, etc..." gag is keeping me chuckling.
"Don't make me laugh!" Carol Anne told me on one of my visits during one of her hospital experiences. But everything that I said struck her as funny, so I had to just leave.
After his hemorrhoidectomy, my super-husky friend Mario Mogavero pulled a radiator off the wall when the pain of simply egesting naturally (to avoid the worse pain from an enema) doubled him up in a sudden spasm.
Some of the unavoidable necessary functions are more pleasant in the future when their pain is just a memory.
Hang in there, Sis! And tell Rick that if we really cared, y'all would've heard from a couple of hundred of us already. (
)
I told Rick running this site would end up a big pain in the azz.
Terah, you make him listen to the Doc's. One of the hardest jobs a wife has.
I bet he is trying to get out and go back to work already.

'Fraid not. No ulterior motives here. Just want my left coast bud up and around. I need to chamber two barrels for him so he needs to get busy and find something for me to do. How is he this morning?
I'll bet Les gets a special batch of jokes in just for Rickster...

Just saw this thread. Prayers and best wishes for Rick and the family. Peritonitis is not a good thing to have, and he's gonna be down and out for a while. Just gotta keep pluggin' away.
Prayers for a speedy recovery.
thinking that myself! Prolly still in the hospital but was hoping he'd check in.
Still praying...
Yes - get well soon. The Bin family is in my prayers.
Got in late to read this. Prayers sent from Indiana. Also, tell Rick that they finally quit feeding the troll on the 7-08 TSX post!!!!!
probably wading through his PM's...
Mrs. Bin:
I hate to hear this. My father had the exact same thing and his doctors, while attempting to mend a small hernia by going in with a scope, ruptured the infected spot. He had a time of it, but pulled through fine at age 72. It sounds like the doctors found Rick's much sooner and got right on it. I know everyone here at the fire will have him, and his family, in their prayers.
Any word on how Rick is doing?
