Guys I am from Alaska and I think Sarah is a fine governor but her lack of experience scares the hell out of me! She will be one breath from the oval office and the way McCain looks he will not last 4 years if he is elected. Sarahs lack of experience is the most frightening thing I can think of right now. The idea that McCain thinks her PTA experience is valuable is shocking. She has no international experience, no economic experience (just like McCain) and the idea that you can go from a mayor of a loosely organized city of less than 7,000 people to the presidency of the USA is of great concern.

I am not a big McCain fan but this is scary! What was he thinking?

not much difference in experience between Palin and Teddy Roosevelt when he was elected..........think about that for awhile........

Nothing to worry about , except for those who were re-elected , nobody has ever had the experience to be the POTUS until they were POTUS.

Obama has run a campaign and we're not even sure how much of that he has run. Right now PTA, Mayor or Governor would be a coup on his resume.

Not to mention Obama is running for POTUS. Palin is running for VP no matter how long you think McCain lives.

Political experience is overrated... the JO's from the past eight years are proof enough.

I'm more impressed by a nimble mind that knows how to ask the right questions and an ego under check that allows strong and differing opinions to be voiced inside the cabinet.

And her experience trumps Obumbles to such a degree it's sad, yet you have no problem putting the Obamination(R) into office?

Experience as a governor trumps that as a senator. Clinton was merely a governor, with comparable experience. As was W. As was George Bush I. As was Reagan. As was Carter. As was LBJ.....

Walt, you have, through earlier posts, shown yourself to be a socialist at worst and a blinded demoncrap at best (not a helluva lot of difference). Fortunately, Alaska's electoral college votes already belong to McCain, and your sniveling in the Arctic Circle won't accomplish much more than giving you a frozen booger.

Thankfully, those of us in the lower 48 that will decide this election, are largely beginning to think better and far more lucidly than you, and we'll make the right choice..... sending the non-native-born, socialist, muslim back to Chicago.
Posted By: Tod Re: Has McCain lost his mind? - 09/03/08
She is the chosen one. wink

Her lack of experience is totally different from Obama's.

Pretty funny choice since McCain has been hammering Obama on the experience issue I guess it doesn't after after all

Sorry but Palin isn't Teddy and being governor of Alaska is not the same as being governor of New York. By the time Teddy was elected governor, he'd already been secretary of the Navy and led men into battle. Palin was a beauty queen runner up ad mayor of a town of less than 9000

I like her second amendment position but comparing her to Teddy (a progressive and populist BTW) is a big stretch.
Posted By: Tracks Re: Has McCain lost his mind? - 09/03/08
What is all the hangup on "experience"
Views on issues is all that is important.
Hell if you want a diplomat hire a Frenchman. They excel at diplomacy, as far as getting into and losing wars.
We all know Obamas views on the important issues and, speaking for myself, his are not anywhere near what I want in a President.
Palins are closer to mine than those of McCAin.

This is stupid. Obama is running for president. Palin for VP.

LBJ didn't even have a VP for 2-3 years after Kennedy was killed. Pretty sure Truman didn't either after FDR kicked.

If elected Obama starts governing in 5 months. Palin perhaps never.

Experience aside she will no doubt be surrounded by some advisors who know WTF is up.

the number two on the GOP ticket has more experience that counts than the number one on their ticket.....and your point is?

do you think many vice presidents had prior experience being.....oh, president? I mean....if McC had picked somebody with long Washington tenure, you'd be hearing the same liberals bellyaching about "just another Washington insider".

And Palin has exactly the same level of foreign policy experience....as a VP nominee, remember.....as presidents Carter, Reagan, and Clinton had when they were elected president.

Presidents choose from options presented to them by professional staff, on civilian and military issues alike. A president with the right backbone and instincts, and the intelligence to analyze the possible options' costs and benefits, will do the right things at the right times.

In a word.....NOPE!
You know I keep seeing the same crap from the whiners on the left. "She has no experiance" She is also not one of the washington insiders (like OBiden) that in itself is a plus.
Her record as the Gov of AK and as a Mayor, her record of reform even to going against her own party to do so. Shows that she may be a force for real positive change. Not the change hinted at by Obama with nothing of substance, except higher taxes.
The change I want to see, is real change in ethics, less partisenship, and putting the COUNTRY before porkbarrel. Change for the whole country not just a favored few.

What happens if the obamination becomes president, and decides to get back to his blackness.............

Makes just as much sense, and has just as much bearing.

Palin being female, or Obama being black, make no difference.

Palin being a conservative, and Obama being a socialist, make all the difference.

That some can't, or won't, figure that out, is telling to the nth degree.

Read these posts on one little Internet bulletin board and you will grasp why McCain (and/or his advisors) picked Sarah.

It's a simple matter of energizing the ticket and the campaign. And her selection has done that in spades.

It also gives people who don't want to vote for Fauxbama a politically correct reason for voting the other ticket...and that may be far more significant than most realize.

I think it's brilliant.

Stealing lines from movies...
Calvein come on!!!

I love my life and I also love what GW and the GOP has done with our economy! Uncle Ted and Dandy Don just keep pouring the bucks into the Bush and we have projects that we could never realize with a Dem in office. Hell we have a road into the tundra with Uncle Teds name on it and it goes no-where. The best part is the sucker was condemned this summer because it has caved in and is unusable!

The sad part is we will all suffer when this batch or criminal GOP group gets tossed out. Sarahs $1,200 gift that I will receive next week is a fine example of money being thrown away. When the PFD and gas checks hits Bush Alaska, Alaska Airlines will be crushed with folks heading to Anchorage to spend like drunken sailors or like the GOP on steroids! And when the cash is gone we will all have our hands out asking for another government hand-out to pay for out oil bills. Stupid Waste of Good Money! Please explain what a conservative is because in Alaska we have none!

The economic benefits of the $3200 that EVERY alaskan will be getting will be great. That is a lot of money going into the economy up here. It won't be wasted money. I believe the citizens know how to spend money MUCH better than the government ever will and can't/won't judge a person in how they spend their money.

I see government projects that don't make much sense, but the folks working them sure aren't turning down the paycheck...

You just need to start demanding that other people, via the government and NGO's, meet your needs instead of taking care of them yourself. Once you get over your fixation on self-reliance and personal responsibility, and fully enter the nanny-state, you will realize that you really are unhappy and unsatisfied, and that it's someone else's fault -- probably a Republican's, actually.

Then you'll be all set...for life-long misery.

Happiness pretty much is self-induced. As is good fortune.

I don't need a President to create a good life...

Come on Calvin...

How about putting the excess money into something tangible that in 10 years we can all point to and say there it is! This money will provide a huge economic boost and if that was the intention it was money well spent. BUT in the process we are reinforcing out welfare state that the government will help us out with money when the going gets tough. How about sending that money to all of the school districts so they can pay for the huge increase that they are seeing in heating oil cost to keep the schools warm and open? That would be money well spent! The way Palin is handing it out most of it will be squandered on pointless things rather than on helping out with energy costs.

Gov Palin doesn't scare me for three reasons;

she's a quick study

she has integrity (and isn't a corrupt Chicago thug)

and exercises pretty damn good common sense with what she's accomplished.

Blaine, come on man, they will never admit her expieriance. As a mayor she alreay beat Obama for executive expieriance. they are not gonna mention that she is a governor with an 80% approval rating after 20months. hell, thats 4 times higher than the democratic congress under Pelosi.

As long as we get our PFD and a additional check I will give you a 80 rating!

Show me the MONEY!

Walt, please dont tell me thats your only defense. the PFD has been going for how long? and this rebate thing came about after she dropped in rating.

Nobamma => William Aires

Nobamma => Rev Wright

And that's literally for "starters." Or are you too stupid to figure out the truth?

Even Herr Schlickmiester Bill Klinton in a moment of frustration accused Nobamma of being a 'Chicago thug.'

But wait, ole Bubba's not president anymore and his wife didn't get the party knod, so they're both irrelevent - aren't they?

She has no international experience, no economic experience (just like McCain) and the idea that you can go from a mayor of a loosely organized city of less than 7,000 people to the presidency of the USA is of great concern.

I am not a big McCain fan but this is scary! What was he thinking?

Nervous north of the Arctic Circle!

At least she's BEEN a mayor.. At least she IS a governor.. OB's been nothing more than a junior senator who does nothing but (sometimes) attend meetings and (sometimes) votes on bills that may/may not become more worthless laws...

And you think Palin's inexperienced????

Your post is the laugh of the century..

Guys lets be honest, these dumbocrats are just plain scared, they spout off on Palin's lack of experience but yet she is more experienced than their number 1. Governors have executive power, something a senator(with 140 days of actual work experience) doesnt. Foreign experience? you mean like wanting to sit down with terrorists and talk things out? Obama is clueless....

jorge,
do you actually believe the stuff you post or are just trying for the MRPA (Most Ridiculous Poster Award)?

You are, at least, entertaining.

I see you are keeping true to form with the leftist academia. Are you that ignorant? Read his book stupid where he admits to frequent cocaine & dope use and while you are at it watch the news once in a while. Do the names Olinsky, Ayers and Wright mean anything to you? How about the most liberal voting record in the Senate and his views on income redistribution, abortion, gun control to name just a few?

Being entertaining and accurate are obviously just two of the many attributes you lack. Go back to your research Poindexter before I take your lunch money. LOL!..jorge

Schools staying open? Warm? Such liberal drivel.. In my town every kid 6th grade and up is given a 2k Mac laptop to use. Small classroom sizes, and a HUGE new school was built for a high school with the enrollment of 100. My parents were teachers and they would be in heaven if they had it as good as the teachers I've seen up here.

The sad part is we will all suffer when this batch or criminal GOP group gets tossed out. Sarahs $1,200 gift that I will receive next week is a fine example of money being thrown away. Quite your whining and return the money then.

Sarah Palin, unlike some, appears to believe that the resources of the State of Alaska belong to the people of Alaska. Therefore when extraordinary oil prices flooded the state's coffers with money -- she thought it appropriate to share our wealth with us, particularly since we are also paying the resultant high prices for energy. It's a truly progressive notion, in a Rooseveltian (TR, not FDR) sense. What has truly irritated the left about it is that a) it was her idea and not theirs; and b) it is equally applied to all citizens, instead of being granted to the "underprivileged" and withheld from the "rich". But make no mistake about it -- it's not a gift -- it's our damn money, because we live here and share ownership of the resources.

As far as your characterization of how people will spend the money -- I don't share your limousine liberal view of my fellow Alaskans. It's just as likely that Bush residents will "be heading to Anchorage" to get dental work done, visit the doctor, buy school clothes and supplies, and take care of other needs they have put off because they spent their disposable income heating their homes.

You have certainly revealed the sneering, condescending superiority you feel about your neighbors, haven't you? Pretty typical of liberals, in my experience. And not a little closet racism there too, isn't there?

Don't know where you came from, but you need to go back. I'm guessing where you came from you won't have to worry about what an actual conservative is like.

About the only thing I would approve of that would reduce the size of the check, of OUR money, would be funding the brown bear DNA study on the Kenai to get a realistic population count.

Otherwise, the govt. needs to stop stealing our money.

Only thing I can think of is that she did get legislation passed to cut the cost of a business license in half. Since my business license is up for renewal in December, that will make a small difference in my bottom line this year. Don't know that it will encourage new startups, but when you're investing without immediate return -- every bit helps.

I think the oil companies would beg to differ wink
It's humorous some of the things one hears about Sarah and AK on national news the last week. The distance creates a different frame of reference for us versus those down in America.

A few days ago I heard that Sarah had "served on a commercial fishing boat". As if she crewed on a factory fishing boat or something rather than a family set-net site.

Then it is official.. McCain has lost his mind! Long live Sarah!
Hey, northwestalaska

You said I must have my head in the sand. Well, the sand sure smells better than where you have your head! O, don't get that stuff confused with your brain.
Buck:

Then you agree that McCain has lost his mind. Thanks for the support because for a second I thought you were one of those far right wing nuts.

PS wait until the Press looks into Sarahs back ground because it looks like McCain should of spent more than 1/2 hour with her and he should of asked some pressing questions before his announcement. The dice he has tossed have a fuse burning on them and he forgot to think before he made her the one, very messy and that is really too bad because I use to support McCain(2000 Really!) before he climbed into bed with GW and C Rove.

Messy, very messy. Thank goodness his wife has money!

Glenn Beck had a piece that PDiddy did about Sarah Palin. If this black scumbag represents your side NW then I suggest your side are candidates for impalement.

Well ... he doesn't really perform, or act, or contribute much of anything usefull ... but he's a celebrity.

Probably most remembered for spraying bullets around a nightclub from a handgun. Remarkably, he didn't injure or kill anyone and was never really punished for it.

Aka - Puffy, Puff Daddy, Diddy, Sean Combs.

It's funny to see all the "conservatives" drooling over McCains VP choice.....while at the same time being played for a chump by McCain.

He goes and gets a liberal that agrees with conservatives 1 out of 1000 things to speak at the convention....please.

Then he nominates a conservative in the one office that has absolutely ZERO POWER to do anything, other than to break a tie and do you really think anyone he got as a VP wouldn't do that in the right direction?

He's conning conservatives and they are stepping on each other to get in line.

Just because he picked a conservative doesn't make McCain anymore conservative and his VP won't make the way he governs any more conservative.

He's still the same SOB that gave us true crap like McCain-Feingold.

Please! I like Palin...but why is everyone so high on the VP candidate? I mean she's the VICE president candidate, not the presidential candidate....the house majority leader has more power than the VP does.

Because in 4 or 8 years she might want to run for president. And we might finally have a true conservative to vote for down the road.

This sure is an entertaining thread.
The bottom lin is who is best for America?
A marxist/socialist lib, who had to pick someone for vp who has some faint idea what the hell is going on.
Or a quasi conservative vet who picked a vp who is extremely sharp conservative woman?
She has more experience than osama and probably more stones.
Regarding the economy, ours was doing ok till the libs took over the senate.Things sure went downhill from there IMO.
The only change in my economy has been a result of fuel prices.
If the libs would allow drilling, refineries, nuc plants we would be out of this mess in record time.
Hate to put a dampener on all the polemic theorys put forth on the post by our liberal and less than enthusiastic RINOs....But, the truth is only one thing..The selection of her as the VP will go down in history as one of the best political moves by any party. Get used to it boys, theres a new sheriff in town...and the mojo has shifted....MCPO GRPC
