3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

Posts like that make me realize how warped the liberal demos really are.

Tony.
Well it looks like I may get to do some fishing when I go home on leave. My son is very excited to fish with grandpa. I can not wait.
What Y'all going after?
teal i hope yall catch a mess of em, as for haggis you are a moron if you believe your post. and i feel sorry for you in your time of pain. but maybe before you post you should lay off of the "medicinal marajuana" for awhile, it seems to be clouding your judgement....... blake

I bet he claims he doesn't inhale either.

Tony.
T - if it was just me I would be after walleys at night but my son is only 4. I think I am just going to go to some of my old blue gill and perch honey holes. Catch little ones all day long and all the kid wants to do is get a worm wet.

Al Linder he is not (nor I). Something easy and fairly fast paced so he stays interrested.

In 1 word pan fish.
Cool, the kid is the most importent part of the equation anyway!
One thing you have to believe with all your heart is that haggis is a horse's but. lol. tom

Well I want to be sure he has a good time so I can take him again over and over. Maybe take him night fishing for walleyes - (he would prob sleep in the bottom of the boat) just worried that if we had an accident of some sort - the darkness would compound my problems (making sure he was ok - lifevest is mandatory but I still would worry.) and I am not ready to take that chance I think.
What!!! Haggis ain't no troll, just a mysogenistic biker type with a beer belly

Ya can talk about fishing all ya wan't, but I thought Ol' Haggis struck a nerve with a bunch of those observations. I'm prob'ly gonna vote Republican anyway...

Birdwatcher
Is Haggis a Libertarian? Barak is ain't he?
Didn't say he was a troll and didn't hit any nerves. Just think he is full of it-.

4. What about all the overseas jobs the Heinz company has? (get the log out of your eye before you go after the speck in others)

5. Abortion = Murder thats it and that is a fact.

6. Read your bible.

7. What about the Kerry vote record? Never voted for any military expenditures- new ships and the like.

8. Funny all that came up only when he was running - gets in and it goes away and BTW he was never convicted of anything in court. I say Kerry groped me -does that make it true?

9. If a teen can not buy condoms in a store or is too embarrased to go to the clinic then they are not mature enough to have sex.

10. No one is your friend forever. We all disagree on points but that does not mean we are not friends. Tell me just how the US has hurt so much because the French participated in a massive corrupt program and was scared of being found out.

13. Willy Tango Foxtrot.

15. Pure bs. He did not lie - he made a statement based on the information in hand. This point has has been hashed out enough I am not gonna do it again.

16. While there is nothing saying Gay marriage is unconstitutional - nothing in there says it is correct or a good thing either. If I can not read into the founder's intent neither can you.
My son did at that age. He would wake from time to time and ask if he caught anything yet!
I'll probably have to bring more toys than lures.

He has always had a fascination with fishing - I haven't fished in years but this just may be the excuse I need.
Time spent with the kids is the best, and the window of opportunity is not that large!
Tell me about it- seems like yesterday that he was in the NIC unit (he was 2 months early and pretty small) spent 5 weeks there - scared the crap out of me. (I was only 22 and didn't feel much older than him!)
Yup, they grow up fast, my GRANDSON is now almost 14. My youngest is 35! Where does the time go?
I thought you were only 35

I don't even want to entertain the thought of grandkids.
Haggis - I'm not impressed.

My oldest is 39 and we started late! In fact, she has 20 years in with the SO in August. Man, I need a new chariot.
I BELIEVE that you are wrong in posting this inflamitory bilge.
I KNOW for a fact that you are a JACKASS!!!
I THINK that your real name is....Larry...
Now wait a minute. Some of that stuff is relevant, and none of it is a personal attack on anyone here. John McCain recently said, "I remember when the Republican party stood for financial responsibility." I also remember that time. Some things I miss about the Republican party are:

1. Talk about a balanced budget amendment. Tax cuts are supposed to be paid for with spending cuts.

2. Red ink was no way to finance a recovery. Long term, it always leads to tax increases and longer recessions.

3. Surpluses should first be used to pay down the national debt.

4. Supply side economics is a farce over the long term. At best, all's it does is temporarily buys votes, then losses them when the stuff hits the fan.

5. Dipping into trust funds to pay for pork is wrong.

6. The president should be given a line item veto so we don't have to have pork just to get some level of action from government.

7. Efficiency in government can save tax dollars, and should be sought fanatically.

8. All constitutional guarantees should be held dear, not just the ones supported by monied interests.

I don't know if Haggis was trying to stir things up, but some of those things are real issues with fence sitters that will decide who sits in the white house next January. Face it, the radicals on both ends who vote one way no matter what, rose colored glasses or blinders permanently in place, aren't the ones that look at things rationally. The republican party has moved away from the mainstream. When Bush can stand up at a $10,000 a plate dinner and say, "Some call you the elite, I call you my base" without so much as a flinch after all the energy scandals, corporate pension scandals, insider trading scandals, no bid contract scandals, and everything else contrary to traditional party values of fair play and fiscal responsibility, you know something is rotten with the grand ol' party. Where's Ross Perot when you need him?

I think you hit a nerve Haggis. Now anybody who doesn't agree with the predominant board view is treated as a troll? What class.

You forgot one though. You can bash someones service record if they were in VN, but you can overlook someone who avoided the war by using daddy's influence.
Helluva sandbass bite going on in the bay right now. Looks like the 'cudas are moving in, too. Might be time to get out in the boat ... a nice bass chowder and fried halibut dinner sounds superb!

Anyone like ling cod?

Rick
I expected as much from you.
Haggis, you the man, keep up the good work.
Haggis,

You might be a Democrat if ....
walker, you hit the nail on the head......blake
It is interresting that all these coroporate scandles broke as Bush came into office- the scandalizing being done uner the past admin.

Seems the lack of personal accountability rubbed off from Clinton.
Rick - I wouldn't go to a feminist site and talk bout having my supper on the table and clothes washed when I get home and the little lady had better be barefoot and pregnant.

While I may be free to post such things - it is a little moronic to then wonder why you catch flack. You know where you are and the underlying beliefs and feeling of many on this board- don't act so supprised when your views are then gone after.

Places like the Campfire do tend to have a central to right view amongst its members, our lifestyle and personal choices fit in with that particular demographic.

It is a little naive to think that when you spout something that is not a commonly held belief by the members of the community you aren't going to catch a little he!!.

While most do not have a problem with you posting what you want - do not come crying when the others who do not believe what you do rebuff your pov.

To my knowledge Rickbin has never deleted one of your posts so don't even try the freedom of speech line. Just realize where you are and if you don't like the responses given to your posts - stop posting them.
Teal, I am not wondering why I catch flack or crying about it. I don't know where you get that idea. Don't worry, I've gotten quite used to some posters resorting to name calling when a differing point of view is espoused. I personally view name calling as an immature response by an immature person, and I ignore it.

There were some posters here who were trolls and deserved troll like treatment. Larrymartin and agree come to mind. Haggis doesn't fit into that category by any stretch of the imagination. To treat him as such is wrong. For the webmaster to respond to my post in a way to insinuate that I too am a troll because of my political beliefs is ignorant. If he believes me to be a troll, then remove me from the campfire, it's that easy.
rick_g, If the Rickmeister thought you or haggis were truly trolls. Simple, you would not be here.

On the other hand I imagine I am on a few "you are ignoring this poster" lists myself. Don't get your panties in a wad, I don't when I get whacked around.
Hell, if I'd seen a pair of panties around here I'd be happy.
MS
Your right, one doesn't have to buy what I'm selling, but it pays to listen to anyone, anytime.

I do have a tendency to stir the cow patty a bit when I can. I don't believe in the dogma spewed by either political party, but it does my heart good to see so many defend so little in the way of truth, while attacking logical facts.

The Republican Party once had sound judgement behind what they did; today it's all about hands off big business and controlling people's lives.

For those of you who wish to attack me personally, we are all incognito here, knock yourself out. For those of you who don't respond in any way other than pretending to ignore the post, you remind me of one of my daughters when she was three years old and didn't want to be told something. She would put her fingers in her ears, close her eyes and say, "'Nore, 'nore, 'nore." Her word for "ignore."

There are some brilliant, honest, and logical people here, don't play the child with me or the other readers. It's demeaning to you and to this forum.
First of all, how probable is it to balance the budget with a major war going on? Slim to none, that is the real world.

Secondly, it is laughable for democrats to discuss fiscal responsibility when history clearly shows them to be the best at buying votes by giving freebe handouts to their constituents. Frankly, the Republicans play this also, and one could argue where is the party for the average working class person, neither party in my mind excels for us. The democrats love scaring people about "social security" yet steal from it routinly over the years. The democratic party is a far cry from what it "used to be". Many vote democrat only because their "daddy" and "mommy" voted democrat. It is the party of "handouts", it is the party that demotivates workers, it is the party with the best record of stealing away your "rights", it is the party that invented "election stealing" re - Kennedy/Chicago?1960 vote, it is the party that gave new meaning to dirty politics, it is the party that places it's own power as a higher priority than our national defense, and it is the party loaded with constituants who believe the gov't owes them something.

For all of those reasons, ......I left the democratic party. Is the Republican party perfect, absolutely not, but it matches my way of thinking alot closer than screaming, out of control, democrats.

And while we are talking about "Daddy's" and "favorite sons", I remember during the Vietnam war you couldnt get in the navy, because it was overloaded with "favorite sons". Any Questions? Pretty high tech to have a movie camera to take movies of you while on your 4 month tour, receiving 3 purple hearts, and never spent a night in the hospital..........HUMM........
HAGGIS, you are still a moron!!!!!!!!blake
The reason I started in on the fishing was not to say Haggis is a troll, I did it as is the easies way to show disagreement without the name calling. If you notice I later went about posting my pov on the subject.
Haggis ,
I am sorry for calling you a JACKASS,I was wrong and it was childish.I apologize , can you ever forgive me?I don't know what I was thinking, maybe I should look inward and see if I can find the root of my need to call all liberals JACKASSES. Again...Please ,forgive me...please...
Gentlemen...
If you will look through the list of threads in this forum, you will see that it is apparent that Haggis started this thread in response to a similar one directed against Democrats.

In my opinion, if you view it fairly, that bit of prose is *nearly* (can't help my bias ) as slanted as this one is against Republicans. That is why, though I admit some amusement over it in the past, I have come to have little interest in such writings. There are better examples of the style anyway (the old one directed against those who believe in gun control comes to mind), and I think these two are just evidence of our country's general slide into devisiveness (is that a word?).

Beyond that, I would echo the words of a previous post (sorry - now I forget who to credit to)...

"...There were some posters here who were trolls and deserved troll like treatment. Larrymartin and agree come to mind. Haggis doesn't fit into that category by any stretch of the imagination. To treat him as such is wrong...."

Haggis and rickg; Remember, it stinks when you piss on the fire. Don't act so surprised by the reactions. I'm sure there are some places where your desperate need for controversy is wanted. If you don't like or "get" the responses to an outright and deliberate attack on what is obviously the predominant sentiment on issues around here, grow up, or find a new home to spew in.
You may not like the family, but don't expect to change them.
BTW, Rick is very tolerant of this oral flatulence you seem so proud of. Get a life.
T Lee does not like name calling or getting personal . How about simple comparisons? Haggis, rick g, and Mule Skinner sometimes remind me of Ted Kennedy, Michael Moore, and Jane Fonda or other ultra left wing Dems. It is their right in this wonderul American system of free speech and freedom to be as they wish to be.
#301437 - 06/08/04 03:28 PM: Haggis posts the republican one.

Hmm, seems Haggis started this one FM.
Abortion is Murder and a huge reason why I will never vote with the dems. And outsourcing? you need to look into that a little more before opening your big mouth. As stated previously look into Heinz corporation a little You may learn a thing or two.

Oh yeah Haggis-Get a life.....Go hug a tree or something

Not true, FreeMe. As T LEE has pointed out, my "Democrats" thread was posted as a response to Haggis' ridiculous "Republicans" thread (this one), and not the other way around. I only fired in self defense! Here it is:

If You Are a Democrat ... (Posted at 3:19 AM)
Some points are right on the mark, others are off the wall. Thanks for the laugh.

BTW, I will probably hold my nose and vote for GB--I have a feeling he'll need the help. Even if I didn't vote for GB, there is no way I'd vote for any Democrat. I'd abstain before I did that, or do what I've done in the past and vote Libertarian, although I've become somewhat disillusioned by them and their opposition to this righteous, needed, religious war we are in with the ***heads. (Hint to Libertarians: Not all war is bad. When someone knees you in the 'nads, you crush their face, as well as their will and ability to ever do it again. You had better watch it, you're coming dangerously close to becoming sissified Democrats [was that redundant?].)

Actually, upon re-checking - Haggis posted at 11:28 am on the 8th. I missed the difference in the dates - my bad!

Nevertheless - I've had my disagreements with Haggis, but I still don't believe he deserves the troll treatment.

Dal, the Libertarian party has such a pretence for picking an IDIOT to run for president. I voted for them once, the first time Klinton ran, and I don't think I will again unless they really get their act together. I'm going to vote for GW, I can't stand Kerry.
1) B.S. - i don't know what the resolution of this case was as i stopped following it months ago.... he was leaned o pretty hard, innocent or guilty...

2) the u.s. would be better off out of the u.n.... probably not practical at this point

3) good point

4) good point

5) no one is worried about what any woman is doing with her own body... it's the body of the unborn child that we worry about...

6) jesus loves us regardless of the nature of our sins... he even loves hillary... if face to face with hillary today would probably advise her to sin no more..... he even cares about those of us who've really gone around the bend, be it in the name of keeping America free (total B.S.), for the sake of national security (B.S.), or as an instrument of foreign policy ( BINGO ).....

7) i have nothing, per se, against veterans benefits, or combat pay..... the best way to raise an armed forces morale is to professionalize it... we have done that.....

8) good point, to a point... philosophically, in every way, he could have just as easily run on a democratic ticket...

9) this needs to be a leadership thing in the home.....

10) got things to do will get back
Read some of his other stuff.
#3 Good point.
#20 Good point.
The others merit at least some level of objective debate. While I consider myself a solid Republican, at least at this point, I'm not above wondering if W might have his head up his can sometimes. I'm surprised at the level of denial on this board by most of the responders. Most of the items on that list are hard to dispute, unfortunately for us Americans.
Well I can agree with 20, to a point but I think it is gonna end up to be one of those things where we just wait him out- Fidel can not be all that young anymore.

Way back in the day my great grandmother used to go down to Cuba to vacation - would tell us about it and it seems to me that it was like Vegas with a beach. If Cuba could get out of Fidels hands it could be a very nice place - look at the tourist $$ spent on the islands around it.

Whoa, I was there a few times as a kid. He ain't been in power that long!

I say the solution to the Cuban thing is to let them field teams in both the National and American leagues. 'Sides, Fidel is getting old, can't last a whole lot longer.
I thought you guys were well informed! Fidel Castro is dead! Yup! Benny Hinn prophesied on Dec 31, 1989 that Fidel would die during the 1990's, I can find the link if anyone is interested!

Yahooooo! Go get them seeegars ye bunch of stinkpot puffers! heh heh heh heh

11) jesus has the interest of the public at heart... we should all try to do our part for our neighbor..... hmo's and insurance companies are businesses and need to be run as such to remain solvent.....

12) basic health care in a nation whose infrastructure we have traumatically revamped is a humanitarian obligation..... better health care is available, regardless of ones ability to pay, right here at home..... and i'm payin for that too!!!

13) global warming may or may not be the end of the human race... the alarmists rely upon almost wholly unsupportable assumptions..... the matter is being studied by a lot of serious science.....

the government has required warning labels on tobacco since i was a child..... i started on the wrong foot but have refused tobacco now for more than 20 years..... if it kills me, i did it to myself.....

my first grade son studies elements of the q'uran in public elementary school as part of multiculturalism... his intolerant christian bible thumper parents will have to accept it or send their children to school elsewhere.....

14) good point-- America has backed a lot of causes in a lot of places... sometimes great profit has been made..... sometimes great prices paid..... a lot of this has occurred through the selflessness of patriotic individuals who believed in a cause and were willing to take terrible risks, both economic, and physical..... sometimes, maybe often, their efforts were misguided..... sometimes, people have been corrupted..... inevitably, i believe that we have all been corrupted by our acceptance of subterfuge and the visitation of clandestine mayhem and violence upon those that we mistrust or fear....

15) poppycock!!! clinton lied under oath and is still laughing in his sleeve about it.....
bush is doing what i would do in the middle east, if i had the authority..... what he's doing here, at home, constitutionally, is deplorable and dangerous.....

16) only in recent years have the politically correct, and the militantly mouthy, silenced the wisdom of the medical profession which considered homosexuality a mental illness..... lifestyle acceptance is now taught in public schools, not for the judeo christian lifestyle though..... LET THE MILITANT HOMOSEXUAL PROMOTE HIS CAUSE IN IRAN

17) bushes driving record is a matter of public record, not that he crows about it..... i remember the fuss about hillary's cattle trades, but i wonder more about what role she played in the demise of vince foster......

18) excellent point,..... washington needs to be dehorned in it's dealings with the united states...

19) treasonous, cowardly, and irresponsible vs. arrogant, scheming, and greedy..... good point!

20) cuba was a desperately dangerous enemy throughout the mid and late 70's.... not just in the western hemisphere but globally..... i have reason to believe that it was so since the inception of the castro regime when it came to power relatively suddenly..... like cuba, china was once an ally... their politics and outlook changed, but the threat to western society from the chinese has grown much more slowly, and manifests itself, primarily, as an economic weapon.....
