1. Tims Cascade (local)
2. Lays salt and Vinegar.
What's your fave ?
I don't think I have eaten a potato chip in 20 years. On rare occasions, I'll buy a small bag of Tostito's Scoops though.
I pretty much like them all with the exception of ones that are too thick.
This reminded me of the home I grew up in during the fifties. We had a gas range and mom always kept the bag of potato chips in a drawer of the stove so that they would stay crisp. Along with that, they acquired a taste from the pilot light.
Cape Cod kettle chips....unreal!
Grandma Utz Kettle chips
cooked in 100% lard!!!!! yum!!
Lays, with Old Dutch a distant second.
Tims Cascade Jalapeno
Lays Ruffles
Hawaiian Kettle style Sweet onion
Grandma Utz Kettle chips

Beat me to it! You just can't top lard.
Tims Cascade Jalapeno those are hottier than hell.
Golden Flake, made in Birmingtown, Ala. Get a bag of those, some Alabama barbecue, and a Grapico and the world is a beautiful place.
Since potatoes and corn are NOT on my diet I cannot say what my favorite would be.

Preach it, brother!!!
No chip has ever been better than Golden Flake.
Since potatoes and corn are NOT on my diet I cannot say what my favorite would be.
No potatoes? No corn? Are you on suicide watch?
Old Dutch Kettle Cooked Salt and Vinegar
Ruffles Cheddar Sour Cream
and about any chip if I can have Top the Tater!!!
Had to have my sister fly some to me in her carry on her last visit as I was going through withdrawals so bad.
I would walk over hot coals and fight a screaming horde for Top the Tater.
This needs to be merged with the fat people thread.
Since potatoes and corn are NOT on my diet I cannot say what my favorite would be.
Well, what about your favorite Krispy Kreme donut?
My favorite is the chocolate Bismarck.
Zapp's....regular or Cajun Craw-tator (spicy)
and about any chip if I can have Top the Tater!!!
Word!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was just a midwest thing.
It blows away all the others by a mile. Ever try their new taco dip? Fantastic as well.
Generic (in this area) with plain white box and big black lettering.. Cheap, good, and I'm addicted..
Tims Cascade Jalapeno those are hottier than hell.
Hot? They're not that hot but they are oh so tastey!!

Mother, Father and sister all diabetic, so is wife. I am following her diet that has her blood sugar under control. No insurance for fancy medications and I don't want to loose her. So, in reality I am thrilled to be following a healthy diet.
ZAPPS Crawtaters
This thread goes very nicely with the FAT PEOPLE thread.
Krunchers/kettle chips.
Have to put a "serving" in a little bowl, or it'll be trouble.
Grandma Utz Kettle chips

Utz Crab Chips ain't bad either.

No chip has ever been better than Golden Flake.
Had some big surprises as far as food goes when we moved up here to NC. There was no Golden Flake, no Grapico, no Buffalo Rock, and no barbecue that deserves the name
Tims Cascade Jalapeno those are hottier than hell.
Hot? They're not that hot but they are oh so tastey!!
I'm a sissy when it comes to spicey.
Ghost,
I am from MN just living in FL. I grew up with Top the Tater!

Nice! Figures. You can tell people just how good that dip is, but it has to be experienced.
Best dip on the planet by a country mile.
Don't buy tater chips too often, but these are pretty decent local fare.
Don't know why but this thread has given me a hankering for vinegar and salt chips, haven't had any in years.
I guess I'm more of a tortilla chip, salsa and guac kind guy.

Come on over and graze my greenhouse. I think we have four or five kinds of hot peppers started.
Plain Pringles.
In a pinch, Fritos and Ketchup.
Oh, I forgot. Crunchy Cheetos when the bag has been left open for a couple of days and they get a little hard/soggy.
Mrs. Mike's (Freeport, IL) made with sunflower seed oil or somethin similar, not vegetable oil. Recipe hasn't changed in 40 years (longer than I've been around) and we used to ship them to my grandfather in FL when he was alive.
Also, Old Salty's Potato Chips
Charles Chips in the big metal can.
Golden Flake wash pot style pork cracklins.......I swear i don't think crack could be anymore addictive....
Dakota Style industrial strength chips.
Maybe not the best in the world but pretty darned good. They are a thicker open kettle style chip. The guy started cooking them on his farm (Clark, SD) for friends, then local, then regional distribution so he must be doing something right.
Generic (in this area) with plain white box and big black lettering.. Cheap, good, and I'm addicted..
Generic? I haven't seen generic brands in my area for years...they've been replaced with store brands.
I remember in the 80s when there was generic beer...just a white can with "Beer" or "Lite Beer" in black lettering.
I grew up with those Charles Chips in the big metal can. Too bad they're not around anymore. About the only time I have potato chips anymore is when I have lunch at a Subway restaurant (my usual lunch stop). I like the different varieties of "Baked Lay's" chips that come with a lunch deal.
Regular old ruffles are hard to beat for me, particularly with some toasted onion sour cream dip...................

So...you like dip, huh. This is one of my favorite Far Side's.
#1 Wise (but they were better when I was a teenager)
#2 Charles Chips in the can; but I can't get them any more.
Qtip
Soli Deo Gloria!
Grandma Utz Kettle chips

There used to be a Charles Chips factory over in my area. We were on their home delivery route and a lot of times the chips were so fresh they would still be toasty warm when the route driver delivered a new full can and picked up the refillable empty chip can from our house.
Kettle Chips Spicy Thai -- Best in the world, in the world.
1. Wise potato chips....the originals.
2. Middleswarth Barbercue chips.
Golden Flake, made in Birmingtown, Ala. Get a bag of those, some Alabama barbecue, and a Grapico and the world is a beautiful place.

I am a Golden Flake fan, myself. Also a fan of Grippo's and when slumming, the plain jane Ruffles.
I try real hard to not buy them,
but when I do, its Lays Ruffles.
Cape Cod, then Wise, then then been gone and then back again, A local one called State Line. Utz every now and again.
Troyer Farms Bar B Que or Gibbles Barbeque.
I try real hard to not buy them,
but when I do, its Lays Ruffles.
I try to not buy them too, but for me it is Old Dutch "Salt & Vinegar" that I can't resist.
Good thing they do not sell this brand here in Sweden!
John
Krunchers/kettle chips.
Have to put a "serving" in a little bowl, or it'll be trouble.
I thought a serving was a bag full. Krunchers Mesquite BBQ.
Cape Cod.
I buy the reduced fat because I think they are a little crispier.
Charles Chips were the best. Utz is a close second, okay, now first 'cause they're actually available. At least at home?
Figures, people in CT can get Utz's, but I can't always get them when at my cabin in northern PA. Sometimes the grocery store there has them, most times they don't.
Tims Cascade Wasabi flavor.
You haven't enjoyed the full potential of potato chips until you've eaten fresh ones.
I used to buy huge boxes (about a bushel at a time) from the old potato-chip factory in Missoula before Lay's bought it and shut it down to eliminate the competition.
Then every night before my stroke destroyed my ability to swallow, I used to slice #1 potatoes as thin as I could get 'em with a big Salad-Shooter and deep-fry 'em in a huge stainless stock pot full of peanut oil.
FRESH potato chips in peanut oil and FRESH popcorn in coconut oil every night! No king ever et better!
Zapp's. I like my potato chips to taste like potato, I hate all the flavored versions.
I can't put these down if we get them....
It's weird. I haven't even heard of half of these chips. They must be a regional thing.
When I was a kid we actually had a regular potato chip delivery from Mr. Chips potato chips just like the milk man. I couldn't find the can from that era, but this is one from an earlier era. They were delicious. When you finished them, you left the cans out for pickup and they'd leave that many replacement cans.
Dang, sounds good, y'alls makin' me hungry, wish I liked tater chips. I eat tortillas and beans.
Gunner
ATTENTION ALL CHARLES CHIPS FANS: They are still around, (I didn't know that). Look up the company history on Wikipedia or check out the availability at Amazon.com. The company has changed hands several times over the years so I don't know if they're still as good as I remember.
old vienna red hot riblets.

Whoops! Those are the ones we had delivered when was a kid, not the Mr. Chips.
Best chips I ever had was when I was in Maui and was served (real) Maui Chips at the hotel I was staying at. Frickin things where a half a foot long.
I like the Lays Kettle Cooked Chips, particularly the Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper and the Salt and Vinegar varieties.
I say again

Peanut oil for quantity, economy, and repeated reuse (and other benefits).
Coconut oil for that incomparable old "movie-theater" flavor (and other benefits).
Kettle chips -- Maui Onion!!
