love The Allman Brothers and some of his Solo music. I guess 'ol Cher doesn't get alimony and child support payments from him anymore.

Eat a Peach.

Remember the music well.

My favorite band of all time. Been listening since 1970. True Blues and Southern Rock and Roll. They changed and created it for all that followed. Seen them several times, always delivered full measure. RIP and play " In memory of Elizabeth Reed" since so many of y'all are together again!! Eat a Peach!
normally not effected much by the passing of entertainers or musicians, but Laid Back and I have spent more than a few Sunday mornings together. RIP thanks for your contribution to music. Will the circle be unbroken?

Yep. Don't think he hooked up with Charo either.

Gregg and Cher, however........

Really sorry to hear this.

Would love to be a fly on the wall for that reunion.

A girl that used to cut my hair dated Gregg allman back in the day. Which in itself probably put her in with a very long list of others... But for 20 bucks extra, she would cut your hair topless! ....... Rip
Eat a Peach is still one of my favorite albums but my favorite song by them is Loan Me a Dime.
Hard livin' has it's consequences. Hep C, liver transplant...he knew it. Thanks for the music Gregg...and all the past Allman Bros band members.

This guy (Warren Haynes) and his favorite band Gov't Mule will help keep his memory alive.
LET'S JAM!!! cool

Not a fan, but hate to see even a celebrity die that young.

RIP sir!

I saw them in '69 play as a lead off band for Country Joe McDonald, again in '70 then in '71 at Clemson right before Duane died and again in "72.Two more times after that , can't remember the yrs.
Jaimoe and Butch were the best combo on drums to ever play, and Dicky and Gregg, none better playing those strings.
Statesboro Blues and Midnight Rider have always my favorites.

Hoop, all the old MT Band guys are gone now. I worked with a guy that used to play with them locally around SC, he could pick , but Dicky and Gregg were always the best.
All the good Southern R & R , R & B bands are gone now, but there is one hell of a jam session going on somewhere now.
Posted By: maddog Re: Gregg Allman Has Left Us - 05/28/17
Saw them at Purdue University back in 1970-71. They were great!
Posted By: maddog Re: Gregg Allman Has Left Us - 05/28/17

One of my favorites
Posted By: OlyWa Re: Gregg Allman Has Left Us - 05/28/17
Saw them at the Warehouse in NO at their New years concerts in 71, 72 and 73. All there the first year, minus Duane the second, and minus Barry the third. Gregg and his Hammond organ tying it all together each time. And he had one of most distinctive singing voices ever. Thanks for the memories brother...

Monument to clean living.

There seems to be some confusion on the brothers amongst a couple folks.. Duane was the ‘guitar guy’, Greg played a little acoustic but was the singer and played the B3 organ. Loan me a dime was a Boz Scaggs tune Duane played on as a session musician.

The ABB is my favorite band so this hit me hard yesterday. Music can have a very emotional impact on some people while some people could care less. Listening to a live version of Mountain Jam while sitting on a high mountain in CO while elk hunting is a yearly tradition for me. This loss hurts. I went to church last night after hearing the news and was treated to a Memorial Day service. You know what, he made music that touched my soul, but at the same time was a draft dodger and made some very poor life choices. He really was “No Angel” and I had a little perspective change consideration the many folks that gave lives for our freedom that won’t receive the headlines or accolades. I’ll miss the music but is it tempered by the fact that he was an artist and not a hero. God bless those who gave their all and may Gregg have found peace.

It's interesting to see so much adoration for Gregg Allman on this site as he shot himself in the foot to avoid the Vietnam War. That would seem to guarantee him 'snowflake' status.Of course there is no shortage of hypocrisy around here...

I didn't know that but it doesn't change my opinion of him.

The Viet Nam war was a cluster f*ck of the highest order that ruined a lot of lives for no good reason.

Donald Trump managed to avoid the draft too but I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that you voted for him.

Well....I owe you a dollar then. Happy to pay though since I also wrote in candidate.

I still don't begrudge anyone for not wanting to go to Viet Nam.
Only difference between Trump and Allman was Trumps daddy's money.
When you think about it, shooting yourself in the foots probably more honorable. LOL

clinton dude, bush the younger, trump, allman people, hell no one wanted to serve in that dirty little se asian war that johnson, et all committed our young, poor men to. he didn't care. mcnamara nor westmoreland cared. what's the death of a young peep swept off the street to serve in se asia if there were votes to be captured?

may they all rot in hell, or worse. ya know?
