We will be moving to the country pretty soon. I was looking at all her stuff she has to be moved. A 16'x 5' Gammel longarm quilter. A Pfaff sewing and embroidery machine. A Bernina sewing machine. Three serger machines and 6 or 7 file cabinets full of fabric.

I started figuring up what we have invested in all this stuff and figured out I'm about $15,000 behind in guns.😁

She makes baby quilts and does quilting for the public. But her biggest passion in working with the Quilts of Valor program.

She is currently cutting out the pieces for a baby quilt for our pharmacist who recently had a little girl. My wife designs all her own patterns. While having coffee this morning she told me she is 5 or 6 baby quilts behind. Sewing is therpy for her the same as reloading, shooting and hunting is for me. She is very talented and I am very proud of her.
My wife likes to quilt occasionally, my girlfriend doesn’t.
Nope wifey sews, don’t think she is into quilts.
My wife quilts. She gets what she wants.
No room for a long arm quilter so we just take the tops and back to a shop and let them finish.
I have a lovely quilter here - the quilts are lovely as well.
Does she ever.
Yep. I am a quilter widower!

Plus cross-stitch, embroidery. And lately knitting.
My wife is part of a quilting group at church.
Yep,we have quilts hanging all over the house. My wife has one for every season and every holiday theme.
I kinda wish she could. she can barely sew on a button, much less make a quilt. Ha.
Thank goodness, no.

But my wife does everything else. Trust me that you're wife is far behind my wife on fabric. And silk flowers. And.. wait, I think your wife has more sewing machines! Whew.
mine is a quilting fool. but she allows me gun stuff and I allow her quilt stuff. win/win
My wife is an avid quilter, sometimes even misses a session at the shooting range because of it grin. I support her habit and she supports mine.

Quilts of Valor is a great program, I was very surprised and pleased to receive mine , sent them the names of a few other Vietnam vets.

LOL!

Mine too...

But that's OK. I didn't marry her for her quilting abilities. wink
My wife loves quilting and is in her quilting room as I type this.
My wife is an avid quilter. She just finished one for a neighbor in Idaho that is having a baby (boy) next month. I will be heading up to deliver it.
Like I always say.....just put up with holes in your shirts.....dont buy that first sewing machine.
Mine used to. But we have so many quilts that have been handed down thru the family, that we really don't need any more.
Any one's wife sell them?

It seems like they fetch pretty good money.

Seems like a good way to make a buck.
Wish I knew some quilters! All I knew have passed away, and the quilts gifted to me have long ago deteriorated.

I swear that her hobbies are as addicting as mine.

Indeed.
My mom use to Tie Quilt

She used 1 X 2s C clamped at the corners tacked the flannel with thumb tacks and rolled the 2 Xs as she worked he way in.
My dad notched some 2 X 4s for the legs.

This worked for a bout 40 years until they bought a fancy fangled rack to save space.

My sister uses it now

The 1 X 2s and 2 X 4 are a lot less that $15000 to get your self started.
My wife will do customs if someone is willing to pay. The quilt on our bed was made 15 years ago and used daily since. Fabric for it then was $300 and over 100 hours of labor, so they can get expensive. It is just now getting ready to be replaced. The quality of the fabric has made it last this long. She entered it in the County Quilt Show the year she made it and it took 3rd place out of about 300 quilts. She had also taken another 3rd place and a 1st place at the same shows over the years.
My lovely bride used to quilt. Her hands have short circuited the activity.

I call,them love blankets.

If someone gives you a handmade quilt, cherish it, each one is unique.
My wife quilts some. She just has a regular sewing machine so has to freehand it. She's currently working on one for one of our daughters.
My grandmother used to tie quilt with the same kind of frame. Grandpa had it hung from the ceiling. The $15,000 is what I'm behind in guns compared to what we have spent on her hobby. We bought her long arm used. She was wanting a new one about a year ago so I told her to price them. The new version of what she has is about $30,000. It ain't happening!
My sister used to be HEAVY into it,shows...collecting...making.She'd get positively bent seeing me using our Gma's as daily drivers on me and wifetpoo's bed."But we're cold" was always my response.Never told her we used to take them camping/hunting,haha.

Not sell them, but she will donate them to shelters and benefits and such.
