Kind of a cop out. I mean, it’s always beer season like it’s always rabbit season. But summer is one of my four favorite seasons to drink beer, maybe even in the top two. Tonight I’ve got a barrel aged porter. Pretty good. What have you girls been drinking lately?
Goose’s IPA is good if you’re not a girl.

I’m in fact not a girl, guess I’ll have to check it out. Been drinking a fair amount of Oscar Blues G’Knight which is a very good imperial red IPA that is widely available
both kinds of yaller beer. Bud and PBR.
PBR is $2.50 a can at Pay and Take. good price for a sit down beer in flagstaff.
Shop fridge is usually flush with these.
Or these if I can't find any red stripe.
I thought this was about beer?
Coors Light has beer in it? Doesn't taste like it. How novel.
It's packed full of headaches
Coors is made with Rocky Mountain spring water- - - - - -Coors Light IS rocky mountain spring water!

Goose’s IPA is good if you’re not a girl.
No it aint.
Deschutes is about the best we can get around here.
Their Stout is my favorite when I can find it but they make a nice Porter too that's usually available.
There will always be naysayers of course. But the very best beer I’ve ever had was an ice cold Coors Light, after like a 16 hour work day in Peterson Bay Alaska. I’ll never forget that one.
Also going by sheer volume, Coors Light probably ranks number two behind Keystone Light for me

I've learned a lot since college. Or at least I have more money. So Keystone Light is now just a fond/hazy memory for me.

Keystone Light is very popular around these parts.
I've said it before but the timber industry in North Central ID would cease to exist if they stopped producing "Keystone".

See, it's just un-American to rag on an important fuel source for the logging industry. I hope they fill the tank with Premium once in awhile for god measure. We sure used to. Proudly carrying a 1-star rating at ratebeer.com

I spent time as a road mechanic for light industrial equipment in the PNW and Montana and Wyoming. I worked at several Beer distributorships. I have been told by many of the GM's of those facilities that if you add all the yearly beer sales except Keystone, that it will only come up to half of the sales for Keystone. I have been in warehouses that will have 100 pallets of all the other beer, but will have 300 pallets of Keystone. The picture below was one day delivery in Butte Mt.
I've had several Pacifico's this year. A local Mex. restaurant has it on tap, but not a 6 or 12 pack for sale in my town. I've also been enjoying Modelo Negra, hard to find here also.
So, when I go to the big city, I make it count. I have a beer cellar.
I get other neat stuff too. New Total Wine & More store advertises 2500 beers. While I don't think the store I visit has that many, they dang sure have a lot. I have broadened my horizons lately. Thinking I've tried over a dozen new to me beers in the last couple months.
LIG
All you sophisticated fellers are giving me a touch of beer envy...…...…..
Been having flashbacks the last couple weeks. Currently 3 things in my beer fridge……......…
All acceptable (IMHO) "sittin' on the porch swing waitin' for the grillin' to be done" beverages. Let the heckling begin...…………..
Ah, the Mickey's big mouth !!
Ah, the Mickey's big mouth !!
Bought a box of em 2 weeks ago. Had COMPLETELY forgotten about it...…...... First Mickey's I've had in, probably, 30 years.
Younger fellow owns the beer store...…….30's somewhere.........pretty "beer-savvy" kid. He never had one. I yanked one and handed it to him, Waiting to hear what he thought.

I had a couple "beers" the other night, followed by a wierd dream when I slept.
There was a moose eating on the lilac bush next to the deck stairs. I tried to take his picture with the cell phone, but someone had loaded it with a game video that wouldn't shut down so I could use the camera. The bull came up on the deck and pawed (hooved?) at me like the dog does when she really wants something.
Man, I gotta lay off that O'Douls!

My vote to make it a trifecta.
For the last couple of months, beer sends my gout over the freaking moon! I've had maybe 4 beers in 2 months. It really sucks 'cause my grandson & stepson have a brew pub about 3 miles from me. The kid brews some good beer.
Man do I like a good beer! Man do I miss a good beer!
See the Doc in a month, maybe allopurinol will get me back on beer!
I do like beer!
Grampa's been cranky...

I use a different barometer to measure beer sales in this area.
I go by the empty beer cans in the barr ditches along the logging roads.

Haha mmm, love unicorn milk. It’s even good warm
The good Mexican beers, when they’re cold, on a hot day, are plenty worth drinking in my opinion. That’s about all they’re good for but they do that right. Negra Modelo, Pacifico, Bohemia, Dos Equis...
A local brewery here in Flagstaff does a lot of experimenting, this one is awesome. It’s a blonde imperial coffee stout. Wish they would have bottled some of it
A little off track, but those coffee (porters, stouts, dark ales) beers make excellent stews (replace Guinness) !
Another hot day, another 6 pack of Ice cold Coors light straight from the freeze where the tequila is next the the beer.
I prefer corona, coors light not bad and PBR in a bottle.
all these small brewers use cascade hops.
and that crap makes me gag instantly

Not that it matters but I was told that it actually costs more to can beer than to bottle it.
I prefer bottles too though. Wish we could get bottled PBR around here.
Corona light is a pretty good sweat-weather beer. The last few sips at the bottom are still pretty tasty when it's 100F outside. Can't say the same for American light beers.
A little off track, but those coffee (porters, stouts, dark ales) beers make excellent stews (replace Guinness) !
Truth^^^^^^^^^^^
I'm seeing a lot of old friends here. Beer, that is! My default setting is IPA. But I love a good Barrel Aged Stout. I've had most of the big name ones and many from lesser known local breweries. My daily drinker is Founders All Day IPA.

Actually no gripe with cans, my complaint with this is that it’s a Crowler which is canned directly from the tap and so has to be drank within 3-5 weeks. Which is better than a growler but wish I could put some away for later
I’ll have to try the stew angle
Sipping the occasional Kokanee here.
Among inexpensive beers to be consumed ice cold on hot days I find Yuengling's Golden Pilsner superior to major brand light beers and all the yellow Mexican stuff.
https://www.yuengling.com/our-beer/golden-pilsner/?back=year-round
Yep.
Yuengling light and Amstel light are decent as well for hot days. I like heavier and darker beers but in the middle of summer I can go light.
I can enjoy most beers for what they are. The Red Stripe someone listed earlier I just can't like though.
An Ice cold Yellowbelly AKA Coors Original is always good on a summer day!
For those of you who like Mexican beer try Corona Familiar. Pretty good.
Yuengling is hard to come by out west but I do like it when I’m back east. I concur it’s a superior summertime American beer
Shiner light blonde in the summer. Snake river brewery zonker stout in the winter.
Gotta concur. Yuengling Yella Can is good stuff.
I've gone full 'beer' slut lately.
Actually been rather fond of Dos Equis XX for good bottled water.
Pretty much anything wet that isn't some foul ass trendy phaggity chit works for me.

Samuel, I'm gonna drop down into montucky on my way back from alberta this year, second weekish of November, we need to hook up for a bender.... maybe get big Jim involved???? Grin

Gottcha.......I see folks talk about growlers and crowlers all the time but I didn't know the difference and never took the time to educate myself......thanks.
Truth is......I'm not sure why I still prefer bottles because I pour it all in a glass these days......just set in my ways I guess.

I'll volunteer to be the dedicated driver for this caper........If someone will loan me a tractor.
Sams got nicer tractors than I have.
Picked up some Trooper Ale and a bit of Double Crooked Tree IPA.
Shocked the latter was available (only made in Feb).
They dropped it to 12%, used to be 13.4.
Bastards.
Couple of pints of this German beer last week to go with the Spaetzle and Brats I made. Other than that Ive been on a PBR bender for the last 3 months.
Scofflaw double jeopardy a double IPA is a current favorite, as well as Jazz Cabbage a dank hemp'ed beer by Terrapin, as well as Bells Ale, as well as Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA, I really liked Oakspire a beer aged in Knob Creek barrels by New Belgium but it was a limited run. Tropicalia is OK but I am not a huge fan of citrus beers, guide beer lager is about as low as I can go these days, its a good lawnmower beer. #drink craft not crap.
My Florida beer has been Jai Alai from Cigar City.

Blew the froth of a couple last fall, between Bear & deer seasons !
Tried the local recommendations, everywhere we went.
*To add: Local food too, it was amazing !
What in the heck is that next to the can. No offence but it looks like a dead rat. A rat that's been dead for quite awhile.

Oh yeah, I see it now. Was wondering the same thing

There’s a lot of garbage craft beer out there to be sure. But the really good stuff is never gonna come out of the Coors or Budweiser factories
I have one bottle left of Oakspire (New Belgium + Knob Creek collaboraton) in the beer cellar, it was decent I thought. There are better barrel aged beers around but it was pretty good.
Molson has been my go-to this summer. Not sure how available it is once you stray too far from the Can-Am line though.
Hey, it was hard work trappin dat ting, so he shouted hisef a beer !
For a while Karbach (in Texas) seasonally made a really good Pils. It was quite comparable to the genuine German item I enjoyed when I traveled there a number of times. They didn't do it this year.
I guess it was too much of a classic style, however well executed, to generate enough sales to keep it.
Going to have to curtail my beer drinking completely or at least in part. Drank 4 draft beers the other day A few hours later I'm thinking suicide is the answer to my prayers as the headache was MASSIVE.
Old age ??
AKA PBR
Fats & MM. This is new to me and surprising as well because my drinking habits haven't change a bit in many years. Always drink the same brand with no ill affects in the past.

Could be many reasons thats why I took down my original post on your subject. Maybe talk to the Doc. Change brands and see if it changes.
Bar has two brands.
One is giving me fits and might as well take poison (Bud ) with the other.
Good advice tho' as always with your posts.

me stroke out.
Speaking of double IPAs...
This one is worth the price tag. Pretty excellent. Not sure how they settled on the name, or what the possible connection to a Negroni might be, but it's a very good double IPA.
OK, out of my usual Bud Light mode, last week I had few hazelnut coffee porters from a champion home brewer that setup a pub in my little town. Then some fruity reddish, Ale I think, but it was 12% & it let you know it.
Later in the week a Kentucky Coffee Barrel Stout from Lexington Brewing Co. (Alltech) 8%. At $12 a 4 pack take out, I'll have it again, as cheap as I am. Keep an eye on this company. They've got an Irish Red Ale that made me think of my roots. I'll have it again.
I mentioned 2500 beers in a previous post. If 'ya find one that rocks your world, great, but not finding it again, or taking a big road trip to get it is what separates the real beer drinkers from the rest. I don't like the frustration. So, my hat is off to the ones willing to try all they can.
Have I mentioned that I like Stihl chain saws?
Believe it or not the GSP is much older (matter of fact she died recently).

Those natural flavors could be Negroni style additives.

I suppose that is possible. Perhaps either a) my palate is too primitive and unrefined or b) negroni means to EvilTwin something other than the cocktail (gin, sweet vermouth, Campari) I’m assuming it to mean

Two thumbs up! Shiner Cerveza and Prickly Pear are my summer favorites right now.
I love Heineken been drinking it so years...its not everyone favorite but i love it.
Yeah, ragging on other folks beer. Uppity, pissy, condescending, sometimes unknowing.
I had a boss that drank Keystone Light, yeah, I know. And... he had enough money to drink any beer in town. But that's what he liked. I didn't think much of it, but when I had to work over, he would stop it to check on me & always brought me 2 or 3 beers.
Pretty damn good at 5:30 pm when you had started @ 7 AM. I've never bought one, but I never turned one of his down.

If it ever breaks down I'm getting it repaired. The door is crooked and it leaks water on the floor but its on concrete so it don't mater.
I have it so cold sometimes the water bottles freeze and the beer cans have ice on them.
Looking good!
Day off today. Monsoons are three weeks late, not without consequences. Flagstaff is burning up. Well, the surrounding area. The San Francisco Peaks should be safe and town is safe and the rain is supposed to get here tomorrow but the DC10 slurry bomber has been running for over 24hrs straight and I'm about smoked out:
I've decided to drink about it. Testing out the EvilTwin Brewing company again. This cocktail themed double IPA business is weird but very good. This one named Passion fruit Margarita... there is passion fruit in it. Tequila is absent. Still, a very balanced and excellent IPA. This is a classic example of an outstanding IPA that many people will never try because they hate IPAs because 85% of the IPA market consists of garbage hops bombs that are unbalanced and gross. My advice to folks who hate IPAs in principle, is to try an IPA labeled either double IPA or Imperial IPA or red IPA or some other "special" IPA offering that has an ABV above 7%. These beers are always more likely to balance the hops with other flavors. Like malt and citrus. When IPAs are done right with harmony and balance, they are really good. Anyway, well played, EvilTwin:
Next up is their Imperial IPA. Heavy on the hops but balanced with a lot of malt and citrus. Pretty good. 12% ABV is not apparent by taste... this sucker is dangerous. Aptly named. I may have to cellar one of these for science. The twelve percent may allow for this to be a great beer in a year. Perhaps not. Time will tell:
Anything new lately? Drinking this wee-heavey right now, it’s pretty good. Glad I gambled and bought two bottles:
Goose’s IPA is good if you’re not a girl.
Haha so I took this picture just for this suggestion. Seemed like a fine idea at the time. Backstory: this was the tail end of night 3 of a bachelor party in Chicago last weekend. Ideas get bad after 3 days of drinking and apparently so do photo skills. This is a picture of me, completely schitfaced at roughly 3am, approximately 79hrs into an 81hr drinking binge, taking a crappy picture of myself with a Goose IPA at Lizzy McNeill’s, just for Ironbender. Here’s to you big guy!
Ha, ha !!
This one's a pretty good local brew;
https://sleepinggiantbrewing.ca/our-beers/mr-canoehead/Consumed a few over Labor Day weekend.

Beer season has shifted to darker, heavier brews around here. Boulevard brewing usually has some pretty good ideas. What are you girls drinking these days?
Had goose island sat watching the OSU Clemson game. I wanted a kassiks sunken island ipa, but the keg fridge was down. So I slummed GI.
