Killed an innocent woman during a home invasion burglary on Sunday morning. mad

This happened about a 1/2 mile from the ranch here.

The good sheriff didn't even let out a press release until one week after the murder, and the bad guys were in jail. <------------- THAT has people in our small community absolutely livid!

One friend who I know lives next door to where the woman was killed was run off the road by the two murderers as he went to drive his 2 young daughters to Sunday School. frown

Killin's too good for these azzholes. They were on a crime spree. Pure and simple.

Fatal home burglary details released; suspect claims he was aiming for dog

Two men charged with capital murder could have slipped away if not for the quick actions by Goliad County investigators, a sheriff’s captain said Monday.

“This is one of those that could easily have been an unsolved case,” said Capt. John Pape, Goliad County sheriff’s spokesman.

By the time Margaret Ellen Tucker was reported killed, two Crossroads men suspected of killing her were already under arrest by Goliad County deputies, according to court documents.

Although authorities have connected the men to the killing through evidence, they have also received confessions from both, according to court documents.

Pape also said he believes the public faces no danger now that the suspects are behind bars.

At 11:57 a.m. Sept. 22, Tucker’s mother called the sheriff’s office to report she had found her daughter dead. Tucker was found in her own bedroom, dead from a single gunshot wound to her eye.

About an hour earlier, a Goliad County deputy had arrested Christopher Allen Debord, a 24-year-old Hallettsville resident, and Devon Keith Debord, a 22-year-old Yoakum man.

Devon Debord has previous criminal convictions for driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and possession of marijuana, according to a criminal history search.

Christopher Debord has no criminal history.

The Debords, who are cousins, were found on Lakeshore Drive after deputies were called to investigate a report of a suspicious person.

Deputies arrested the men, initially charging Christopher Debord with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and arresting Devon Debord on an out-of-county warrant charging him with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.

Both men have since been charged with capital murder.

Monday, they remained in the Goliad County Jail with bonds each set at $250,000 for the capital murder charges alone.

Just after the men were apprehended, investigators began to piece together the evidence that would connect them with Tucker’s death and the burglary that investigators say preceded it, Pape said.

Pape added that home invasions are exceedingly rare in Goliad County. He could remember no others reported during his 10 years at the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s captain specifically credited Sgt. Donna Starry as well as deputies Amber Huntley and Henry Guerra III for the timely arrests and subsequent capital murder charges.

Texas Ranger Drew Pilkington also assisted in the investigation.

Investigators first began to suspect the Debords may have been connected to Tucker’s death after noting they were arrested in possession of a stolen blue 2009 Jeep Wrangler and a .22-caliber Ruger Model 10-22 rifle.

“At the time of the recovery by a Goliad County deputy, the Jeep was being driven by Christopher Allen Debord ... and he was in the process of picking up Devon Keith Debord,” court documents state.

Both the gun and vehicle were reported stolen from a Coletoville Road home less than two miles from Tucker’s home.

While investigating Tucker’s home in the Coleto Creek area, which is listed as a Victoria address, Pilkington and a deputy located a .22-caliber Long Rifle casing bearing the inscription of ammunition manufacturer CCI.

That casing matched the ammunition that was reported stolen with the rifle and Jeep.

Investigators also noted marks on the Jeep’s bumper that appeared to have been made by a collision with a metal gate.

Christopher Debord told investigators after his arrest that he had forced the gate open with the Jeep.

Both men spoke willingly to investigators.

According to court documents, Christopher Debord then entered Tucker’s home with the intent to burglarize it as Devon Debord waited outside at the gate.

“Christopher Debord stated while he was in the residence he was startled by a dog and struck the lady who was lying next to it. Christopher Debord stated he shot the .22 rifle at the dog and struck the lady who was lying next to it,” court documents state.

Tucker’s dog, which Pape said was a small “Shih Tzu” type, was uninjured.

During Tucker’s autopsy, medical examiners found a single .22 slug that had entered her head through her eye. It was her sole gunshot wound, which investigators almost missed because of its small size, Pape said.

Although court documents include evidence that Christopher Debord pulled the trigger when killing Tucker, both men face capital murder charges, which is defined as the murder of a person in the commission of a burglary or certain other violent crimes.
Just a couple good ol' boys never meanin no harm....

Knowing the DA, and the county mindset, (conservative), I'm sure they will get put to death.

It'll just take 20 years to execute them. mad

Yep. They’ll get 20 years of free room and board before they’re executed. 😡

When have you seen a swift execution, besides some old western? Even the ones that should be, like this, aren't.
Man, theres no telling how many others they could have killed without others being warned of the danger.

One caveat to them getting the death penalty is that the DA will probably offer life without parole if they will plead guilty to Capital Murder. It it goes to trial they will seek the death penalty.

This would be my version.
I'd prefer they have their citizenship revoked and get deported to Mexico. Via catapult. A very powerful version that gives them at least 30 seconds to scream. Mexico keeps sending us trash, and like a good neighbor we should return the favor.

Famous Hanging Tree

Field review by the editors.

Goliad, Texas

An official Texas Historic Landmark, the Goliad Hanging Tree is a symbol of justice, Texas-style. For 24 years the court trials of Goliad County were held under this big oak tree. Death sentences were carried out promptly, usually within a few minutes, courtesy of the tree's many handy noose-worthy branches. The tree also served as a gallows for a number of impromptu lynchings during the 1857 "Cart War" between Texans and Mexicans.

No tally was kept for how many men died in The Hanging Tree, but some estimates range into the low hundreds.

That’s a big old oak tree!!!

I’d bet money crime rates would go down substantially if criminals knew they’d swing by the neck until dead mere minutes after the trial was completed. I vote we bring bag public hanging immediately!
That's exactly what those two pukes need!

It can happen anywhere at anytime to anyone. Stay paranoid, wear your gun, practice often.

You'd better be prepared.

These pukes crashed these folks ranch gate open, entered her house armed to steal stuff, and then shot her.

Seems like enough locals showing up masked and armed to take possession of the prisoner immediately after conviction might get something accomplished. Forty or so would do it, and then hang the bastards from that tree in front of everyone. Then do like them folks in MO and everybody heard it from around the corner but didn’t see nothin’. Put the fear in the crooks and the sheriff all at the same time. County gets a rep that keeps the trash elsewhere, everybody wins. At a minimum, if the [bleep] ever get out of jail, there should be a couple of local boys there to pick them up and make sure they “leave the country”.

Nobody would do that to my family and live to brag about it. Cops can’t do what needs to be done, so they would be best served by standing aside and looking elsewhere whilst those who can handle the business do so. There is a vast amount of bullschit that happens simply and only because the schitheads that do it know nothing really bad is going to happen to them. We need to be about changing that if we desire a drop in crime.
Sorry to hear. Way too close to home. Rotten damned dopehead scum.

Water supply for all.
No food.
Televise it.

Run a numbers game, which hog bites first?
Who?
Where?
When?
Time from first bite to death.
Of second?

Not sure I’d go bragging on the Cart War. Before air conditioning San Antonio was Texas’s largest city,,and before the railroad a major proportion of San Antonio’s commerce rolled on two-wheeled Mexican carretas AKA ox carts.

These were inexpensive but slow, a journey between San Antonio and the coast taking the better part of two weeks. Nevertheless even ice blocks were transported from the coast to the San Antonio merchants this way. IIRC at least 500 carts were running at any given time in the 1850’s, each a Tejano family endeavor, the cart crews spending most of their lives on the road.

To an extent entirely forgotten in pop history today, the Goliad/Victoria area was at one a rough and lawless area. The “Cart War” in which local residents overwhelmed the poorly armed cart crews weren’t much more than piracy.

Unfortunately for the Anglo side, they PO’d the powerful San Antonio merchants, who economic fortunes were tied to that same cart traffic. Which is exactly why the Texas Rangers we’re hastily summoned and sicced upon the Anglo residents doing the plundering, thus restoring the peace.
