You would think these guys would be too worn out with that working from dawn to dusk thing going on.

Farmers have the most sex

LOL...

I'm not very far from you. My project schedule is crazy right now!

I'll pay ya some good money to come down and drive one of my tractors shredding ranches with a batwing shredder...

Then you could give me some more input after a couple days of doing that. wink

smile
Need input from the Farmer\Cocksmen on this subject. I guess when they get through plowing later today.
What if you leave out the calves, sheep, and goats?

I got a better idea.

If all that shredding stuff is keeping you too busy to stay up with the topic of the OP,

How about you pays me some good money to come down and take care of your inside work while you keep at the shredding? grin

Geno
Geno, you'd be worn down to a nubbin' after a couple weeks, like I am... laugh

To someone who doesn’t “have to” do the shredding, it sounds downright like fun!

Might be too tired from alla that, um, “plowing” to get much work done!

It is!
Every fall I go and help my cousin on his farm. I have a gas but it is only for a week and I get a lot of pheasant hunting in.
Doing it for a living is a whole nother thing.

I wonder how big a farm a guy would need to qualify.
My half acre ain't cutting it.
More acres more action?

Hmmm.....just speaking for myself here.....

I have found just the opposite to be true........
Sold our place and moved to town so we’d have the time and energy to get us some! (That’s not why, but we discovered it is a truth...)

Cutting, stacking and burning brush or fixing fence all day leaves little for Cupid to work with. Add building a house, a barn, and running a contracting business that I still work the jobs for, and she came asking for it more often than I volunteered. We dumped the farm for a good profit and got a place in town for a bit while we work out what to do next. All I can say is, towns oughta be overrun with kids, as easy as the livin’ is...

Now my Grandpa, there was a man. Did things like clearing 40 acres of bottom timber with his father in law, in August, with triple digit heat. They used mules and crosscut saws. He milked and fed before going to such work. And sired 5 boys in 5 years while doing all that. And grandma told me once that if she did not know what she was doing about supper before she finished making breakfast, the day was shot. She cooked everything from scratch, three times a day, and grew a true subsistence garden while keeping a house and raising 5 boys. They were far hardier folks than me, or even my parents. No wonder the country is going to hell in a handbasket these days...
Obviously the next move would be to buy another farm.

Yeah, so can “cut myself off” and make myself old....😂

Not quite sure I'm ready for that. But, I think it might benefit me to turn some of the sagebrush into "farm" land here on the ranchito.

Jim, will your wife be quilting you a nice avatar?

She has been rattling on about making me another quilt.

Her and the daughter are at the quilt meeting now. I should ask her about an avatar later.

I dont blame her for wanting to make me another quilt. She made me a fine International Harvester quilt many years ago.

It has served as the only covers on my side of the bed ever since.

It is falling apart, smells like Aqua Velva and old wet dog......reckon I could get a couple more 5 or six years out of it yet.

Don’t lose your keys!!
The most enjoyable part of farming is being in the field running machinery. The rest is labor intensive
I'm thinking that the activity discussed in the original article I linked would be the most enjoyable.............just saying.

It is, but you gotta live in town if you want to engage in it. Haven’t you paid any attention to what Jim and I have said?😁
I can attest that .7 to 1.7 acres doesn't garner more poon.

And I live in town, haven't been laid in 6-7 months...

My best memories are hurrying up the milking' so my cuz and I could entertain the town gals circling the barnyard.

The harder you work the hornier you get.

Should be more wimmins signing up to drive them things then. Especially at harvest time in E WA, them folks work from before dawn 'till way after sundown using lights. More like 13-15 hours.

Special 'attachment" on the seat pedestal and some gals might be begging for OT and mobile fueling so they don't have to shut down.

Geno
Wife's grandparents on her mother's side were farmers. Her grandfather came back to the house about every day for a nooner. The older kids always knew what was going on. My MIL is one of 11 kids.

My wife is way too smart to let me tie her ass up!

On a serious note we drove over and checked this yuppie tractor out yesterday. Selling at an auction this coming Saturday.

[Linked Image from i37.photobucket.com]
Wow! Sam, you won't be speakin' to us common folks if you get that.
Richard, she's a beaut!

3500 hours with good rubber, more tractor than we really need but our old Versatiles are just that, old.

I highly doubt we'll buy it but maybe if no else is bidding........
Sam, I'm still waiting for the auction sale where there is just me, and the auctioneer! laugh
Nice tractor, Sam!

Wish y'all luck at the auction!

My brother in law is selling a JD disk plow..

Told him I was needing a disk, so I went and looked. That sumbitch takes way more tractor than I have. Probably 20' batwing style disk. Heavy!

My 100 hp tractor would pull it well until I engaged the ground with it! whistle
A good red paint job, and that tractor would look right nice. laugh

Richard, some stuff has been going for cheap lately but I doubt that JD will get stolen.

You never know though.

I'd bet a couple of dealers will be watching that one.
From what I've seen, dealers, and scalpers watch everything.
Oh yeah, I'm sure there will be a vulture or coyote in the crowd.
Auction sale are near nonexistent in NW Ontario. The was an auction sale coming up a few years back, all the folks were talking about it. Not farm country, not much livestock, no sale barns.

A friend said, what's the point, it's worth so much, or it is not. I shock my head.

Back home I looked up the auction sale history. Back in the Roman days Roman soldiers would bring back the spoils of war, ram their sword in the ground to announce the sale, and sell to the highest bidder.
You may get it at a bargain , you think its wholesale $30,000 ?
Rick, I would guess it sells for $45-50k.

$40k would be a steal IMHO.

Personally, I think if you paid 50 for it, you could drive it for 10 years and sell it for what you have in it.

Those with way more hours than that are bringing more money right now.

Please, they are English and there are a scant hundred of them left...what have they got to compare to?

Seriously, they think fish and chips is spelt "cuisine".
There's plenty of agricultural land out there that can be used so all you guys that think farmers are getting wealthy.....all you gotta do is get up off your dead arses and grab you some of it! So until that time....you fellows just keep driving your little slick cars with smooth tires and leave the job of feeding the country to the REAL MEN!!

Easy there, partner. I come from a whole family of these “real men” and have been one myself. Coffee shops all over the country fill up with us every morning, while folks with smooth tires are on their way to a job. Or on their way home from one. Done a lot of hunting while farming, had time to do it. Holidays with the family because I could. Cut wood for the stove or caught fish when the time was right, and a lot of other benefits. Now, when there is work that has to get done, like planting, harvesting, spraying, etc., you work to get it done, long hours as necessary. Equipment breaks down, crops fail, etc. But when we lose, most times there is crop insurance, and when we win, we make a haul. It ain’t all bad. It ain’t all good, either, but farmers ain’t always broke or worn to a frazzle, we just let everyone think that. Cuts down on competition.😁
