I'm not a big baseball fan but there was nothing else on this afternoon so I watched the Saint Lewis/Nationals game.

During the game one of the outfielders made a nice play....nothing spectacular but a good play.....and upon throwing the ball to the infield he immediately reached in his front pocket and checked his phone.

I know.....it's a different day and age bla bla bla but just how vein can you get?

They should fine the schitt out of him. 😡

I’m surprised he didn’t take a selfie.

Fuggin' kids these days...
Posted By: Valsdad Re: Cell Phones - 10/13/19
That's fuggin crazy.

Haven't seen it on a HOCKEY bench yet, but they do have "I Pad" thingies that the younger kids are always watching their last shift on, going over schitt with the coaches. Pretty sure there's not many places on a HOCKEY player's gear a cell phone would be safe from hits, especially by guys like Douglas "Crankshaft" Murray:

Even rich pro players might lose a few too many phones if they were to slip one in their "back pocket" while playing NHL HOCKEY!

No way!

I used to catch hell for standing in right field with a hand in my pocket.

Right field was pretty boring as a kid, mostly right handed batters that couldn't hit against the grain. I learned to swing late so I could get more hits if I got it through the infield. But I never even progressed to "Little League", just pick up games.

Then I found HOCKEY!

Pick up games in that sport too, but way less boring than right field!

Yep......I wasn't big/strong enough to hit it past the outfielders in left or center but if I got my feet right I could get the occasional blooper into right field. Problem was you never got past first but at least you were on base.

I played all positions.......in the out field.

It was too cold up here for hockey.

Plus we couldn't afford skates.

If I got to first it was someone else's job to finish the deal. And I was quite a speedy fellow so could steal a base or two. Always loved that.

I could play good positional center in basketball too, had a decent Al Jabbar hookshot, could touch the rim when jumping, but at 5'8" that schidt wasn't goin' anywhere either. grin

Geno

PS, I did manage to get a couple of trophies for bass fishing and darts though. Beer leagues rock!

I actually led the team in stolen bases.

Big Jim,

We both big guys. Only time you stole a base was after the lights were off....
Posted By: FieldGrade Re: Cell Phones - 10/13/19
LOL.....I've got a couple of trophies from bar room pool leagues too Geno. smile

I also have wall full of ribbons my old Pete dog won in field trials.

One of my most prized possessions......remind me to show it to you the next time you're here.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Cell Phones - 10/13/19
Hahaha!

When the coaches arms were crossed under his clip board.....you went! No questions!

They said that a man and woman should work about 400 yearlings through a manual squeeze chute prior to marriage.

If you still want to get married after that....you are compatible!

No field trials here Charlie.

But our dogs, with mostly my wife's training, have multiple ribbons for obedience, agility, and coursing.................

Doesn't take much training to get a whippet to course though grin

If they don't, you might want to return them to the breeder.

My boy just got his papers from AKC, he now has 3 sets of letters after his name..................not too bad for a goober dog.

Stealing bases, or most anything for that matter, can be quite exciting. Good on you Jim for leading the team.

And I understand the issue with the cost of skates. And other hockey equipment.

I think it's why so many kids play soccer. Ball, pair of shorts, and some studded shoes once their older. Tennies for the youngsters. Cheap enough even most poor folks can afford that.

I got to third base a couple times with MaryLou Tarqueene, she wouldn’t finish the deal however
