I'm not a big baseball fan but there was nothing else on this afternoon so I watched the Saint Lewis/Nationals game.
During the game one of the outfielders made a nice play....nothing spectacular but a good play.....and upon throwing the ball to the infield he immediately reached in his front pocket and checked his phone.
I know.....it's a different day and age bla bla bla but just how vein can you get?

Haven't seen it on a HOCKEY bench yet, but they do have "I Pad" thingies that the younger kids are always watching their last shift on, going over schitt with the coaches. Pretty sure there's not many places on a HOCKEY player's gear a cell phone would be safe from hits, especially by guys like Douglas "Crankshaft" Murray:
Even rich pro players might lose a few too many phones if they were to slip one in their "back pocket" while playing NHL HOCKEY!

I used to catch hell for standing in right field with a hand in my pocket.
Cold evening or just jingling the change?

Read the part that says "I'm not a baseball fan"....I could give a chit who won.

Bored as hell.
They knew not to hit it to right.
Right field was pretty boring as a kid, mostly right handed batters that couldn't hit against the grain. I learned to swing late so I could get more hits if I got it through the infield. But I never even progressed to "Little League", just pick up games.
Then I found HOCKEY!
Pick up games in that sport too, but way less boring than right field!

Yep......I wasn't big/strong enough to hit it past the outfielders in left or center but if I got my feet right I could get the occasional blooper into right field. Problem was you never got past first but at least you were on base.

If I got to first it was someone else's job to finish the deal. And I was quite a speedy fellow so could steal a base or two. Always loved that.
I could play good positional center in basketball too, had a decent Al Jabbar hookshot, could touch the rim when jumping, but at 5'8" that schidt wasn't goin' anywhere either.

PS, I did manage to get a couple of trophies for bass fishing and darts though. Beer leagues rock!

We both big guys. Only time you stole a base was after the lights were off....
LOL. I was thinking the same thing. Sorry Big Jim.
