Stuff that's been bubbling in the back of my head for a spell needs to be disgorged and I'll try to not maunder too much.

Early today, around dawn's early light, an old friend wandered up the drive that I'd not seen for a spell. My "pet" bobcat. She was mucking it up by the compost pile where I'd put out some fish scraps, and as usual was not terribly coy. We go back a ways and the last time I saw her she had two kittens with her. Time passes, stuff happens.

I reflected briefly about how different species survive in the "wild" and in general term they do so by adopting strategies within their means and adhering with some diligence. Over time they adapt to change, but their foundation remains relatively constant. Cats don't swing from vines in the trees, cows don't have claws, etc., etc.

There was a brief blurb on Fox News early this AM about college kids these days thinking that Thanksgiving is pointless and not worthy of celebration. Of course there were some humorous comments directed back at them, all with merit to various degree. Kids these days....our future...

I consider the changes I've witnessed in my life, the big events and aftershocks. I see chaos, contention, mendacity and a bucket full of stupid here and there. These things are sometimes of global nature, now and then local, and on other occasions just the US of A being what we are. Case in point: Couple days back in the local paper there was a piece about a hometown "boy" that had been arrested for a violent felony. He had 9 prior convictions for similar transgressions, but this one will have a different result. I say that because his case will be heard by our very own Judge Rick Howard, the local version of Roy Bean. The boy will never walk the streets again in this life and everyone knows it. Judge Howard swings a heavy gavel, 7 days a week. Why didn't any of the previous judges sweep this scum off the street? I dunno.

We have in this country the largest prison population on the planet. We have kids that think "thanks" is irrelevant, and a rather daunting list of other maladies that need fixing. Are we going to fix this or just go down the drain with the rest of the planet?

We are either a nation of laws or we aren't. Public servants either administer those laws or they don't. Personal opinion (mine exclude of course) has no place in the arena of public service. Servants do not get to saddle their masters with unnecessary or inappropriate burdens. Educators do not get to teach our kids what to think, but they should give them the basic foundation that allows them to form their own conclustionis and function within our society. Read: The 3 R's....with a healthy dose of history and civics thrown in for good measure.

Florida has a "3 strikes" law re: violent felonies that says if you do it 3 times you go away forever. It is not universally enforced by the judicial branch and I view that with disdain. Furthermore, the people are improperly burdened by having to provide 3 hots and a cot to any among the prison population. I would prefer to see "3 strikes and you're dead". Quality life is worthy of protection, we do not need to understand why a felon did what he/she did, but we do need to resolve the problem. Trash is trash, it needs to go to the dump.

A few things I'd do if King for a Day::
-Repeat felony perps would be executed. They would be entitled to a single appeal that would be heard within 90 days of the initial conviction of their second offense.
-Education would go back to the fundamentals. Teaching agendas or philosophies would be grounds for termination. College admission(s) would be based on merit only and funding would be the responsibility of the student or parents. One does not need a college education to be successful, just some determination.
-The draft would be reinstated. The military would not employ women in the combat arms for ground or seaborne ops.
-Illegal immigration would be halted immediately and violators would be deported by air to their place of origin. If they infiltrated with a parachute they would be allowed to take it with them.
-Acts of war perpetrated by foreign nations, directly or via proxy representatives would receive a nuclear response based on review of post action intelligence.
-Failure to exercise diligence to one's oath of office would be grounds for removal at all levels of government. The first and foremost litmus is found in the words "...uphold and defend the Constitution...".
-The act of presenting false news in the media, or pressing forward with a political agenda in similar formats would merit felony charges against the perpetrator.
-Willful acts intended to benefit a corporate entity that circumvent the spirit and/or intent of public law will result in felony charges against all officers and directors of that entity.

I've probably got a few other things to rant about, but that's enough for the moment. I have a lot of faith in most of the people we call Americans in general, a even more in what we are capable of doing. It isn't difficult to differentiate good and bad choices, but it is quite necessary that we do so.

I love the a$s clowns that think holidays are racist, homophobic, xenophobic ( or what ever the word du jour is ) but still demand the time off from work or school. Gotta respect their integrity.

I have no issues with what you suggested. Would add:
If DNA links a person to a murder or rape charge within 72 hours they are executed.
Posted By: Hotrod_Lincoln Re: Mayhem like me - 11/27/19
Far too many violent felons get to survive being arrested.

Believe it or not don't think that you are not alone with these feelings.

There are more around than you know.

DNA.......that is legal determination is it not? So a simple DNA test would put the end to this transgender bu!!$hit, and if a fetus has DNA, it is a human being and abortion would be murder. It's that simple.

Who decided corporal and Capital punishment, in the judicial system was cruel and unusual?

Neither are.
Posted By: Gibby Re: Mayhem like me - 11/27/19
I feel the same way DD. I might back off a little on the nuclear thing. Just a little.

I'd go after the news media first. I would add torture for this one.

I'll be the monkey in the wrench, the pain in the ass. Most of this stuff is just bold talk until a change in personnel is effected. Drain the swamp and almost all these problems will solve themselves.

F u c k immigration, legal or otherwise. Why do we need any more folks here? Any.

i agree Dan oinly problem is the majority of U.S. citizens are way to soft...........

The nuclear isn’t so bad an idea. I’m guessing one or two small ones would settle most everything down. I used to just hate living in a city and now I can say I just hate cities for their liberalism. They have all the trash and problems and want to change the rest of America because of it. Boo hoo. Leave us out of it and fix your problems. Ed k

I'm sure you're not a pain in the ass for me. Agree with your thoughts. Wanting to change things and getting it done are two different stories. Was just suggesting what I would do as King, not God.

ERK, you mean small tactical nukes or small hydrogen bombs? I prefer the latter as it is more efficient in many levels. And there is plenty of hydrogen.

Wishful thinking for the most part. I can’t imagine any of Dan’s concise and well presented changes ever coming to pass. Damn shame.

Nice to know you don't really support the Constitution.
Posted By: Dixie_Dude Re: Mayhem like me - 11/27/19
The founding fathers didn't see hanging or a firing squad (quick death) as cruel and unusual. Cruel and unusual would be torture or a slow death. I like the idea of going to grade school year round, with breaks of course, and graduate high school at 16. No drivers license until you graduate high school. Then 2 years of trade school or college.

If you don't go, you automatically go in the military at 18. Maybe everyone should go in the military at 18. Those with skills get promoted after basic training. Others remain privates. To cover these costs, you eliminate the Border patrol and use the military and expand the Coast Guard. With expanded military, they could build and repair US roads and highways, bridges, etc, and eliminate the money sent to the states for this work by spending it on expanded military. The expanded military will allow for quick mobilization in time of war, or natural disaster. FEMA could be eliminated and money spent to expand the national guard, which can be called up immediately by the state governors in times of emergency. The military is more efficient in operation than a bureaucracy.

Otherwise the same three above, as well as term limits for all politicians.

Then there is prayer and bible reading in schools. The constitution says we have freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. So anytime anyone wants to pray or read a bible in school, this should be allowed by students on a voluntary basis.

^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ They have also lost their ability to survive under most
conditions, that requires planning, and fortitude. They would probably just roll over and take what comes.

Absolutely agree.

I agree the majority of Americans are too soft and can't take care of themselves. Going to be a real problem if the SHTF because buying anything of value like food will immediately become impossible. Our supply chain will dry up pretty fast and living off the land will become impossible fast also.

Good stuff Dan , i'm in for the good for you party , if we had even 10,000 people who would get together in numbers and tell our Gov't these things we could get the ball rolling and be heard . But it won't happen - people just aren't like that these days .
We should start some State and regional groups and demand that our elected officials adhere to what they swore to do , but we won't [i will] but people just aren't like that these days .
Nobody is willing to step up and be heard - these days - plenty of innanet talk but that's where it ends .
They'll just sit and fantasize that President Trump is going to make it all happen - IMPOSSIBLE !
Many hundreds - maybe thousands will read the thread and just click the 'back button' and look for a more fun thread , because that's how people are these days .
Take care - love your shooting range .

Update on the repeat offender referenced in the OP. The boy fled a traffic stop, injuring two sheriffs deputies and striking a motorcyclist. That fella is in an induced coma, had one leg amputated below the knee and multiple spinal injuries. I have rope and a few tall trees, just in case the judge is following the thread. No charge.

He should never been released the last time.

This & the fact that we tried to satisfy & pacify everyone from the do-gooders to the moderate socialists to the all out left wing idiots & communists is evidence of that fact.

But I dunno if there's enough left with the will to turn the ship or not.................rocks are close.

Appreciate that, and have the same thought about your prose...and survival skills. I came to realize some years ago that flying with or without wings is a thinking man's job. Stopping to inspect something ain't for the faint of heart, anymore than a night carrier launch in 15' seas and a starless night. If you ain't easily amused you'll have a short career with that crap.

BTW, funniest stuff I ever did in a plane was snap rolls. Wish I could try one with Schifty hanging onto one wing strut and Nan on the other. Talk about slingin' chitt.....
