My son has one in 45 colt. He loves shooting it.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Henry Arms - 02/19/20
.22s are my favorite.

Not ashamed to admit it.

Would like a couple Remington 22s some day....the auto loader and the pump.

Ruger is dead to me after they killed the 7722.

Marlin is about out of the 22 business.

Henry for the win. CZ in second place I guess.
Posted By: tikkanut Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20

Marlin's still got's 22's..........

they're all at my house.............. grin

I’ve got one of the octagon barrel 17hmr’s.

Shoots very well open sights.

Wish the barrel band wasn’t plastic though.

Just to shoot a Henry is fine, for me, I like a little romance, a Winchester, Marlin, Browning. Just me.

Groovy....

Sorry, it just popped out and I couldn't control myself....
Posted By: rifletom Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I have a couple Henry's; .357 BB brass with 20" octagon barrel and .45 Colt BB steel with 20" round barrel. Like both a lot. Especially that .45 Colt. Accurate as heck, smooth actions. Fine rifles.

You gonna get that Henry .357 rifle from Ernie’s Gun and Cobbler that you talked up last month?

My pair of Winchester 9422’s have squatter’s rights since 1972. Nothing against Henry.

I would like a Golden Boy in 22 mag.

Like this.

I gave my 22 to my son. However I have the 44 mag steel.
Posted By: Dixie_Dude Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
The Henry Big Bore is heavy compared the the Marlin 1894, about a pound heavier. I also like the Marlin side loading.
Posted By: viking Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
The steel model is lighter then the brass frame.
Posted By: papat Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
That neighbor girl about as purty as some of my 22s. Just about. Not quite.
Posted By: Idaho_Shooter Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I have a Henry large loop blued big boy carbine with skinner sights in 327.

It is a blast to shoot. The young kids all love it. My 75 gr handloads shoot about like a 22 mag, while the 120s are capable of taking vermin or a small deer.

Ever seen a SxS .22?
I think she is my first.

Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of a Henry. .
So by by all means keep posting photos...

The 'old' rifles are sweet.

Couple years ago I bought a new Browning lever action 22. It's okay, functions great but totally lacks character.

Which is normal for most new things I guess.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I like old rifles too.

Got several of them.

We can all have a new Henry for the price of an old Winchester.

Really want a new one in 41 mag.

I don't have kids so it's old Winchesters....

Yeah right , buy more cows!
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I have a nice Model 62 Winchester.

Mother of pearl, I have a lot of rounds though that rifle.

I dont shoot it any more because I had it in a leather scabbard strapped to the back rack on my three wheeler.

Went over a killer jump and bent the inner tube.

Never did fix it.

I shouldn't have nice things.
Posted By: JamesJr Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I've thought about buying a Henry 22 with the octagon barrel, as I think they're pretty cool. Problem is, I've got more 22's than I can count anyway, and really don't need another.

Oh, I just remembered that I bought a 22 mag pump. Sweet little rifle, however it had no consistent accuracy. It scattered them. But it was fun. I would love to try the 22LR pump.
Posted By: saskfox Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I have the H1001. My only complaint is the sights. I eventually put a 4x Simmons rimfire scope on it. It is an honest 1/2 inch group at 50 yards with CCI mini mag solid ammo. Functions smoothly with all ammo except stingers. The trigger is very good. I would certainly recommend the rifle to anyone.
Posted By: 22250rem Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
Another H1001 owner here. It's just the base model but I love it. Got it on sale in Oct. of 2018. Sights could be better but mine currently has an old red dot on it on a pic rail that may get a rimfire scope in the future, either that or some type of aperture sight. Got the Henry single shot rifle in .308 just over a year ago and the accuracy wasn't what I expected but it's getting better with handloads.

Now did ya know........

Henry is building a few side gate loading models now.....

A side gate 22mag would be really cool.
Posted By: mirage243 Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I've had two, sold or traded them both. They seem heavy and clunky to me.
Posted By: jorgeI Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I have this one. Have it loaded with Winchester Match CB caps and scoped. Set to 25 yards, dead squirrels at my feeder smile

We used the heck out of one of ours yesterday.

Taking turns, shooting from the cab.

The kids would ask me what I was shooting at...........uhhh......things I says.

Going to town to look for a pump.
Posted By: Idaho_Shooter Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
The side port loader is a great addition. I wish they would seal the mag tube on those models.

Guys, anyone considering different sights, seriously consider the Skinner aperture sight for the Henry.

It comes in a couple or three styles as per blend of blued steel and brass. It is designed to look great on the Henry. And several aperture sizes are available to fit various eyes or shooting conditions. Or the aperture comes out, and the housing serves as a ghost ring.

I really should get a Henry in 41 mag to go with the Marlin 1894 in 41. But it has not made it to the top of the priority list yet.

Bought the son one in 17 a couple years ago for his B-day. He won't shoot it! Put it back in the box and said maybe someday.
Safe queen for now.

I just have the one. A steel carbine with 16.5" bbl in 357. Weighs in at 6.6 lbs.

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
Posted By: JoeBob Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
The side loading gate is a step forward. Now, does one of their 30-30s still weigh 27 pounds?
Posted By: killerv Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
They've got a pretty cheesy infomercial that about 30min long that shows up on tv sometimes. Reminds me of someone selling superbeets or something.

The finish is chipping of my sons Henry, doesn't take much. I sure with they would do a blued receiver but I imagine the cast/painted stuff is way cheaper to make.
Posted By: bkraft Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
Anyone use their .22 Mag pump? Looks like it would be the ticket for calling coons.
Posted By: TheKid Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I’ve got a golden boy and a H1001, won them both at shooting events. Shot the golden boy some, it’s accurate enough but it weighs a ton and the stock has wayyyy too much drop. I have to get a chin weld to look through the sights.

The other one has never been out of the box, might have to give it to my boy in a couple years.
Posted By: Fugawe Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
I would like to see Henry revisit the Ithaca 49 single shot .22 design with a steel receiver and lever, no aluminum, alloy or plastic parts.
Give it some nice wood and a steel buttplate. It could be the gun that the Ithaca 49, Agawam 68 and Stevens 89 never were.

I was interested in getting one until I read up on them. It seems that many of Henry's pump action rifles have very coarse actions,......many complaints. Also, they have aluminum receivers.

I decided against getting one.
Posted By: Valsdad Re: Henry Arms - 02/20/20
Do they make an AR yet?

Anything in 6.5 Creedmore?

Asking for a friend.

Geno

PS. looked at the website for the side gate model...........no .357 , just "deer" calibers

PPS by looking at that site am I now on someone's watch list..............if not already on all of them?

PPPS Jim, how many of them "things" are you allowed to shoot a day up there in MT?

I’ve got a 22 WM and like it a lot. I might try one of their Big Boys some day.

I cant get on board either. Typically only walmart sells them around here. I dont want anything that shiny and the blue looks like a rattle can on the 22. I could very well become a fan if there was somewhere to see more than the lever 22 version.

Jim Conrad: I love rimfire Rifles, I love lever action Rifles, I love American made firearms , I have numerous friends who own Henry Rifles and I am a gun-nut!
I simply (for some unknown reason?) can NOT warm up to Henry Rifles - I feel bad about this but it's the way it is.
I have never owned one or bought one to re-sell for profit (and that is a RARE thing/instance!)!
I commend you for your dedication but I simply can't "pull the trigger" on one.
I have shot several of them in 22 L.R. and 17 HMR that belong to friends but again they are NOT endearing themselves to me - I guess I just hold them up for comparison/desirability to the much more desirable Marlin line of lever guns?
Enjoy'em.
Hold into the wind
