Sleep apnea can cause increased heart rates- before it kills you.

Damn.

You ever get to the cardiologist, Roger?

Don't take offense in this but you're a pretty smart guy and that is pretty dumb. If I'd a done that I'd have been dead last February.

Is this an insurance thing or you hate co-pays enough to ignore signs that could kill you?

I hear you about small shît that is annoying, like a bad knee....But the heart or pissing blood would get me front and center with a doc.

I have A-fib as well and had a heart rate that got up to the 140’s as well.

I take Warfarin to reduce the chance of blood clots and take metoprol which keeps the heart rate from racing.

Metoprol is mainly for high blood pressure which I don’t have but if I do have an episode now it barely gets into the 90’s.

In the evening when relaxing my resting heart rate is in the mid 50’s to low 60’s. Good luck.
Posted By: The_Real_Hawkeye Re: f-ck - 02/28/20
Are you on any meds for that? You might want to be.
Posted By: Terryk Re: f-ck - 02/28/20
Thyroid can cause this. Usually too much hormone, but the same thing occurs with reduction in hormone. Could be Graves disease, that would cause hyper thyroid, and lack of sleep. Probably the first thing a doc would check with the symptoms.

Go to the damn heart doctor. Take care of yourself.
Posted By: Elkhunter49 Re: f-ck - 02/28/20
Roger take care of yourself my friend! I've been seeing a cardiologist for 3 years now and nobody has been able to explain my BP swings. Lots of changes in diet and meds but so far I've still not got it under control. Last Friday morning my BP was low as hell (86/55) with my pulse rate at 37, by 8PM it had spiked up to (162/101) with my pulse rate at 77. I feel like [bleep] when it's low and feel normal when it's high. I've had stress test, renal sonograms and a scan of the veins in my neck and all were negative or inconclusive. I'm taking Metropalol,Valsartan and Nifedipine I think its called but I'm still just chassing my tail. I see you in a few days buddy and we can compare notes.
Posted By: simonkenton7 Re: f-ck - 02/28/20
My girlfriend has a-fib. She takes metroprolol and it controls it pretty well.
When that a fib kicks in and the pulse gets up to 140 she really feels badly.

Birdy, only response I have for you.........................American goldfinches in the yard today. Small flock or RWBB the other day. Cranes are here in force now, swans too. Friend said he saw bluebirds, I'm expecting them at our place soon. Temps in the mid to high 60's lately, so the bugs are coming out.

Drago : Drago: That divorce business. Is that whatcha get when you paya woman not to live with ya?
George Washington McLintock : G.W.: That's about it.

It must be interesting to still have your dad. Mine's been gone since '86.

We didn't get along worth a damn. In fact, he's the major reason I left home at age 19.

But I never got to know him as a "peer". There was so much tension between us by the time I packed up and left that we didn't even talk.

I'd like to be able to talk with him now,...as the old man I am now. He died when he was about my age.

He led an interesting life.

I'd like to sit and talk with him,....old man to old man,...and listen to what he had to say about it all.

i put a shotgun to my dads head when i was 16 and told him he would never lay a hand on me again or i'd kill him. things improved after that, he knew i wasn't a f-cking kid anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Was it because he rode your case all the time or what, if you dont mind. Mine was good and bad. The great manipulator. Have a good time hunting or fishing but then not satisfied with whatever I did and comparing me to bigger, tougher, smarter, harder working,...

He was a tough, big, strong hard working asswhole though. I was often on the verge of death as a kid from severe asthma and not supposed to survive back in those day. If I was well, he would take me to the oilfields with the windows rolled up while smoking camels.

By Gods grace I survived and later sis and I figured out he was trying to toughen my lungs up- or cut medical Bill's and collect life ins.

Years later he was always saying you cant eat the horns as he was covering as he never killed big deer like I did.

We had some good times, and some not so good. It wasnt exactly said but I wasnt as big and tough as my younger brother and I wasnt a real man because I didnt really work, being a dr and not working in the oilfield, or as smart as my sisters.

Funny, once though we were nunting in the woods and I heard him shoot down in the palmetto/switchcain bottom. I made my way over and found him frantically looking for blood as dark fell. After we searched a while to no avail, he looked at me dejectedly and looked down at his hands spread two feet apart like he was holding the missed bucks huge rack, grinned sheepishly and then said, gottdayom I wanted to get these talley whacker grabbers on those horns.

The camels killed him at 76. Yep, I miss and curse and pray for him. Dayom allergies.

It was because the old man saw a lot of combat when he was little more than a kid.

I've known some others that did, also.

They've got a vibe that I've learned to recognize.

They can be tough to be around,....especially if they're your old man.

For the love of God, quit f-ing around and go to cardiologist! I told my father to go find out was causing his chest pains and he gave me a line of BS about it being indigestion and heartburn. That was on a Thursday and the next Tuesday evening he had a massive heart attack and died. He had plans to lessen his stress also...but he died before he was able to act on those plans. Go to the Dr. my friend!

Roger I’ve got a form of tachycardia. Had it most of my adult life. The type I have is hereditary in my family on my Mom’s side. My grandmother lived to be 99 with it. Mine would get from 140 to 180 before they controlled it with medications. I take metoprolol. It keeps my heart rate at around 75 bpm. May be something as simple as that. But it’s worth getting checked out. Sure hope you get to feeling better buddy! Take care of yourself !

She asked me why I was asking. I told her there was a guy on the Campfire that had some high heart rates from aphib. He seems like a really good guy , but might be bullheaded like ------, (a friend) & wont go to the Dr.

She said; "he needs to get some pills or shut the [bleep] up about it, I take mine, it's a pain but it ain't that hard to do. What's his deal?"

Her words Rog. but she does OK with the meds. They're better than some.

I think I heard eating sheepherder specials ups the heart rate. Might want to cut down on those fur burgers at the Y. They used to give me hard attacks. smirk

I'm 66 & told my doc that maybe I should quit coffee. He said you won't hear me saying that, we'll fix you another way.

I haven't committed to stop drinking beer, but he hasn't asked me too, & think he could find a way around that too. A man set in his ways & an understanding Dr. can come to an agreement.

Mine? he shows me pics of the grouse he's shot.

My son........13 in a month........has SVT. His last episode was at school. He was taching 215 BPM. Cardio doc sez if he were older, he'd not survive it. They have meds for it......or an ablation. It seems to be a rather routine fix.

Have it addressed, brother.

Not sure what PSA is but glad you're going in. Tell them everything.

I'm on high BP pills but my heart rate is ALWAYS around 110 or so. I mention that to the doc's and they all kind of shrug it off like it's no big deal.

OH!

And don't discredit that sleep apnea thing!

It could change your life to get a c-pap.

Of course, the insurance company might wonder why you went to a tarp company to get a mask made that will cover your mustache but F 'em!

Hayzeus christie Roger.

All I had to do with mine was make two fists and tell him he had his last free shots the last time he whacked me..............Never again.

Eventually it turned out I was the one he'd talk too..............maybe because we had an "understanding".

Good luck with the Afib and PSA dude,

Geno

Had a little a fib for years. Too stupid to know what it was. Finally rate went up and would not come down. Wound up in the hospital. Meds would bring it down but as soon as they were stopped it would speed right back up. Doc had to stop my heart and restart it.
The real danger is clots in the heart chambers. If the clots make it to the lungs or brain, you are in real trouble. I now take Eliquis to prevent the clots. Hasbeen

I had some issue with BP meds last year.My heart rate was running higher than normal for me.My normal is between 60-70 resting or light activity. The med my Dr switched me to had me at around a 100 for the same.I'd lay down in bed and I could feel my heart pounding and my head throbbing..Hard to get any rest when your heart feels like it's working. That is close to what my normal rate would be mowing my yard.Mowing the yard it would go up in the 120's and my BP would drop to the point I felt like I was going to pass out.The Dr tried to tell me that was normal.I ended up firing that Dr,switched to another Dr and he put me back on the meds I was on for 8yr prior to the Dr I fired put me on.Now everything is back to normal. You know your body better than the Dr's do.If they can't help you get right, they either need to send you to a Dr that can or you fire them a try to find a better Dr.It's your life they are screwing with.
