We're tearing a building down and I was poking around in it today and found this on the floor underneath some other stuff. I couldn't let it get destroyed with the rest of the building.

It's a early 20's practice/example voting machine, from what I understand it's pretty rare, I thought some here might find it interesting.

I would imagine Kaywoodie used one like it when he started voting....... grin

Where's the "graveyard" lever for "absentee" dummycraps?

Is it rigged?

Pretty interesting find..... I googled up that company name and "Jamestown NY" and got a history lesson.

Neat find! I'm glad you saved it.

I've boted on several of those.
Posted By: Rock Chuck Re: History Find - 04/04/20
I've used on of those. I was old enough to vote in '66.

I am, and I voted on one the first time I voted.

Moving the red-handled lever locked in your choices and cast the vote.

We voted in handwritten secret ballot you whippersnapper!!! After we paid our poll tax!!!
Posted By: 12344mag Re: History Find - 04/04/20
The hookers charged you a tax?

Boy it was rough back in the day.......

No doubt!!!

That's what I started voting on. I always thought that they were kind of neat. Throwing the red-handled lever across set the machine and closed the curtain behind you. Throwing it the other way when you were done locked in your vote and opened the curtain.

Ha. He chiseled on a rock and used a sock on his cock, and babies were prevented.

I cast my first vote on a big gray mechanical voting machine.

Very cool!
Posted By: Kenlguy Re: History Find - 04/04/20
Yeah,I used that style of machine back in '78 for the first time. Wasn't to long after that they went to the punch card. Now I vote from home by mail.

How things do change.

Seems like it’s been an electronic panel with lights, push buttons since 1988 here in TN. But since the last 8 years we got LCD screens.

Never seen no chit that looked like a Wadsworth breaker box to cast a vote. lmao.

Ain’t no fookin way I’d mail something, negroes here at the precinct would toss mine in the trash. That’s that only people they hire at election commissions around here.

Groes run the polls here too...
Posted By: JamesJr Re: History Find - 04/04/20
I was old enough to vote in the 1968 presidential election. Used a machine just like, with all the levers. Voted for George Wallace, who by the way, carried our county.

Cool!
Posted By: Borchardt Re: History Find - 04/04/20
When Louisiana replaced that type of voting machine with digital ones, they sold the old machines to Mexico.

Edwin Edwards won the first election there by a comfortable margin.
Posted By: nyrifleman Re: History Find - 04/04/20
We used those in NY up until the early 2000s.

I would bring my daughter into the booth with me and tell her which levers to throw.
Posted By: moosemike Re: History Find - 04/04/20
I've used one. We were pretty outdated around here.
Posted By: Muffin Re: History Find - 04/04/20
Back when they had the 'Gang Bar' for pulling All REP or All DEM...................

I've voted on one of those.........

Humm the 2nd row is chuck full of crooked lie'in bass turds...seen it rite off I did..
Posted By: TheKid Re: History Find - 04/04/20
Wonder when we’re going to get those here, we use pencils and paper.
Posted By: Fireball2 Re: History Find - 04/04/20
Obsolete if it cannot be rigged by the democrats.
Posted By: RockyRaab Re: History Find - 04/04/20
I've also voted on one. Was always intrigued by the way the red handle controlled the curtain. You had to be 21 to vote back then - 1968.

Sometimes called "The Uninformed Voter Bar".

I've voted on one of those machines, several times. Also, voted by marking your paper ballot with an 'X', and that was in the '90's.

Yes, you were informed. My point was that many people do not take the time to do any research whatsoever into the "lesser" offices and often wind up voting against their principles/best interest by not taking the time to do some homework ahead of time.
