I think Boggy Creek Ranger ( or maybe IIFID or need one) referred to Houston as the place where the tube would be inserted should Texas need an enema. Bako serves the same purpose for CA.

Bakersfield is the historic center of Okiedom for California, with plenty of Texicans thrown in. Welding, Machine shops, agriculture, oilfields, drilling rigs, and chicken-fried steaks!

And the Kern River and Merle Haggard.

There is nothing bad in Bakersfield, that isn't in TX or OK, and plenty that is better.

Bakersfield is a chirthole at least it sure seemed that way the last time I was there.
I pulled off the freeway to get fuel, circled the place, got back on the FW and went a few miles north to a Flying-J they seem to have some pride in how the place looks.

we have to realize some here don't believe Cali has one of those orifices. Therefor................... it's full of politicians.

I went through Richmond back in the early 90's, got off an exit looking for gas and a bite to eat.................bad idea. I think I prefer Bakersfield to certain areas of Richmond.

Drove a box truck around LA............few neighborhoods there that serve well as an anal opening too.

Even a couple places down in the SD area where I grew up..............


But Bakersfield has always just seemed like a stinky armpit to me. On those days when the smog drifts south down the valley, all the way from the Bay Area, it is certainly not a pleasant place. It's no wonder folks be shootin' at each other.
