found the oil leak on my 12 valve after I took it to the car wash and cleaned the engine off, going to have to pull the vacuum pump and rebuild it. Cummins wants 60 bucks for the seal kit, found it on amazon for 25 prime so no shipping, even 25 is high for damn O rings.

The damn thing has been leaking oil for months and couldn't figure out from where till I cleaned and got under there with a flashlight while it was running.

I've taken to using oil and anti freeze dyes and a special light to find leaks.
Makes the leaks easier to find.

What does an o-ring assortment box cost?

The clear organizer boxes with all different sizes...
Think you can reorder the specific sizes once you have the kit.

there is a seal that is not an o ring in the kit. the one I order comes with the new seal that rides on two areas of the shaft instead of the one that the original seal rode on encase the shaft has a slight groove worn in it.

Might try, when replacing the o-rings to use a little bit of vaseline.

it helps with them suckers.

Roger, I'm not sure if you are getting your money's worth out of that truck, or putting money into it. smile

Glad you have the mechanical skills to work on it. Many don't.

have only had to do the suspension and replace the gear case because of the killer dowel pin so far, which was a problem on all 12valve Cummins. these vacuum pumps need to be rebuilt about every 150000-200000 miles from what I read, the engine runs great. fixing to hit 200000 miles. so in reality not many repairs. I did put a new radiator in also.
