Honestly they are mostly absurd, but I'm talking the practices put in place for our apparent protection that are just plain ridiculous. For example, our town has 3 grocery stores. One of them will bag your purchases as usual and provides bags, the other will not bag them for you and insists you bring your own bag, and the last forbids you from bringing your own bag, you can bag your purchases with one they provide.So safety.

The local McD's will not give you your drinks without a tray if you order more than 2 drinks. Somehow taking both drinks and placing them in a holder is super safe, handing them to a customer is not.

Most of the local stores that were graciously permitted to remain open shortened their hours considerably, but made no attempts to limit the amount of people coming into the store. So, since there was a smaller window in which to shop, people piled into the stores to make their purchases. Totally unforeseeable. Oh yeah, nobody died either....weird.

It was pretty obvious right near the beginning that a lot of these stores were simply doing things in order to be seen to be doing something. It had nothing to do with actually keeping people safe, basically a corporate form of virtue signaling far as I can tell.

What other over the top nonsense have you seen out there? There seems to be no upper limit to peoples stupidity with this thing, so there must be some good ones.

weird times, one store in town says if you bring your own bags to leave them in the cart............don't put them on the conveyor. Bag the goodies yourself. But that doesn't stop some runny nosed kid from reaching up and pawing the belt, counter, card machine, etc? But they have a plexiglass screen in front of where you talk to the pretty girl ringing up your food. (don't tell anyone, I handled a good dozen cantaloupe trying to find 2 good ones)

Another store a quarter mile away doesn't even want you to bring your bags in, have to use their bags (paper or reusable plastic), which they are not charging for. So they're "safe" from anything you bring in on your bags...............but, they don't even have the plexiglass goodies.

Local Rez gas station gives away a coffee or fountain drink with a fill-up. Stopped the other day, went in to pee, asked if they were still doing it. Yep the gal says. I look over, no cups, straws, napkins, creamers, etc on the fountain counters. She asks me what I want and says she has to pour it for me, that way folks aren't touching all the stuff.

All this crap must be working................our county still doesn't have a case of ...The Corona.

This has pissed me off more than anything else about all this BS. Have not gone to Costco since May 3rd, last day they let you in without a ninja mask. Now they require it. I take a picture of every Sam's Club receipt and send it to Costco telling them this could have been their money. I am cancelling my membership June 1 if they don't get over themselves. I won't wear something to make other people "feel" better. I can't and don't go through life worrying about the opinions of strangers that are in no way based in fact. Which is what these policies are all about: feelings.

That scarf on your face and that plexiglass won't keep you or the cashier safe from all the items you both touched before leaving the store. Or the gloves the cashier has been wearing for 3 hours. Or the conveyor belt that hasn't been sanitized since close of business yesterday. Insanity.

Yes, had season tickets for 3 or 4 years in college, would drive down from Chico for every game. Owen Nolan was a PREMIER power forward, the epitome of what a power forward should be: offensively gifted, gritty, tough, able to drop the gloves. He could score 2 goals, have an assist, and spend 17 minutes in the penalty box, all in one game.

The local shopping mall (Karcher, for the locals) is shut down. But many of the stores are open if you drive around back and use their delivery entrance. But nobody is allowed to walk the main hallway.

So anyway, I am driving past a ROSS store in the mall and see about twenty five adolescent females clustered about on the sidewalk near the entry doors, as if they are waiting for the doors to open on "Black Friday".

Then I realize there is a gal guarding the door letting one person in as one person leaves. WTF are they protecting. The people would have had more space between them inside the store.

I went to a place that had a sign out front reading "Masks required by state law". When I looked in, about half the workers in the business didn't have one on, so I went in anyway.

Much like 2016, it sure has smoked out the idiots.

Absurd at the gym today (first day it is open since 3/25).

Every other cardio machine is roped off. But all the weight machines and free weights are available. Some staff are wearing ninja masks, some not.

I can use the drinking fountain, but it is totally unsafe for me to go into the locker room, nevertheless shower with soap and hot water.

Upstairs there's no "host." Downstairs I had to see the "host" to be assigned to a bike. Fish doesn't get "assigned." Told her she can write down the number of the machine I sit down at. Saw two oldsters with a combined age somewhere north of 150 get right torqued up at the Home Depot yesterday. Oldster #1 thought oldster #2 was standing too close, and loudly told him so. Oldster #2 quietly disagreed and refused to move(he was wearing a mask, guy #1 was not) , which caused oldster #1 to get right torqued! He finally had to move up to the register to pay, and was so worked up he couldn't work the debit machine properly. His poor wife was trying to take over for him but he wasn't having it. Good times. No requirements to wear masks here yet at least, most people in Costco didn't have one. One fat old bag hab the nerve to say "6 feet ma'am" to my wife when she got too close, for which she recieved a hearty stfu..

Local grocery had entry/exit on each far end of the building.

A month into the ‘Rona they closed on side completely forcing everyone into and out of the same door. About the same time they put arrows on the floor directing one way traffic in the aisles, essentially forcing me to walk backwards down half the aisles Lol.

Forgot about our local credit union. Stopped in yesterday to see what their newest deal was. Yes, open. No appointment needed as before (Oregon headquarters, not Cali). But, was told only one customer in at a time. Even though their two windows are about 12'-15' apart....................because window 1 is near the door and if someone is using it, anyone entering comes closer than 6'.

Small place, small town service. They usually pull up my account without me even IDing myself, while I'm getting my checks out to deposit and such. ALmost four years here now and I think I've had to wait for a window about 3 times. Couple of times, both windows busy (they had tellers then) I did business at the manager's desk in her office.

A month ago I was getting ready to check out and in line, social distancing. And a scrawny negro woman jerked her a$$ in front of me, put down a divider, and slammed her groceries down on the belt. The clerk didn't say anything because the gal was a golden monkey. But if allowed time the clerk would spray down and wipe the belt and anything else touched. Thus helping to slow down the germs. Hard to get rid of groid germs when they act like they are special or something. If you don't act like a niqqer you won't get called a niqqer or various other things. Local Wal-Mart's has arrows on the floor telling you which way to shop in each isle. You can't put your purchases on the conveyor belt until the person in front of you has paid and put their bagged purchases into their cart. We just left our cart and walked out when we got barked at by some pimple faced, tatted teenager.

I wish I had it in me to pull something like that off. In reality, I'd be giggling so hard inside my helmet nobody would dare approach me anyway.

The mention of radio is that for the most part I've abandoned TV news as I've lost a taste for fiction somehow.

Anyway, the other morning one of my neighbors - we'll call him Bob - retired realtor/RCMP and a few other things, but really fine chap - so Bob and the chocolate lab are walking past as I'm doing some fire suppression pruning and select logging on the road side at the top of our driveway.

As is his custom, he stops for a visit and we solve the problems of the world and shoot the male bovine excrement for a bit.

While we're doing so, a lady drives by in a Honda CRV - could be she's a nurse who looks in on another neighbor who is 96 and still living on her own - not sure - but she drives past us with a paper mask on her face AND one of those clear flip up face shields we'd use if we were running the 5" angle grinder sorta thing. Windows are all up in the CRV - I'd guess it was only a couple years old so likely a cabin air filter too?

Anyway Bob looks at me, I look at Bob and there's two old guys laughing so hard we both had to grab the sides of the utility trailer I was filling with wood!

Poor chocolate lab looked back and forth at us all concerned - perhaps it was a medical sensitivity trained animal and knew one of us might stroke out we were laughing so hard?

Bob has a more colorful vocabulary than I do, so I'll not repeat the biblical reference he made, but it included deities, apostles and a few other random bystanders in the description.

Honestly I don't believe we've had a death in the south valley from it, maybe not even a case of beer virus, so for the most part we're trying to keep things as normal as the feds and fruitcakes in Victoria deign acceptable behavior.

You know it will never go back to 10 pm, Same store has all employees wearing masks on the floor. You can see them putting them on as they come out of the break room. and small Plexiglass panels in front of the cashiers that do nothing but be a nuisance.

Same store was selling 10 pound tube grade burger at $4 a pound. Yesterday they had same product at $5/lb. with a big "In Store Special" sign over it. Bozos.

Oh, heard in a PBS news break that cattlemen were researching how to not bring cattle to market weight so fast to avoid loosing money on too fat cattle.

Stopped at a rez grocery yesterday. They had a little outbreak where 3 teens and a young 20 something all caught the corona. Wonder how that happened???

Went to home depot a couple weeks ago. Park and go to walk in the contractors entrance like always. As I come around the corner to go in, I am met by a guy that says this entrance is closed. Have to use the other. My wife and I have different versions of what happened next. Mine is that I said F this [bleep]. She claims told sent the F-word directly to and at said employee.

As we are leaving the parking lot, I see the other entrance and there is a line stretching from there, halfway to the contractors entrance. Screw them. Went to Lowes, walked in the contractors entrance, loaded up, paid and left. Easy-peasy
