Wifes job laid her off because they were really slow at her office and I'm immunosuppressed so they sent her home first. She just started getting unemployment and with the $600 bonus it still wasn't what she made part time because idaho has a low max before that.

We had plans for this week but they called her and said she needed to be back to work the next day. She asked if she could wait another day or two and they said no. They said come back now or your fired and your unemployment will stop now.

So we cancelled plans and made it happen. At least they now have a mask for her at the Drs office she works at. Two months ago they had no protective gear.

I could see how people who are making more on unemployment don't want to go back but if they don't they should lose benefits right away. The dems put that $600 extra in there to screw things up on purpose. How hard would it have been to say your total unemployment can't exceeded your average weekly pay for January and February.

Years ago a lot of people who were laid off in Ohio didn't bother to look for employment, like they were supposed to, until the unemployment ran out (26 weeks). Even though it was less than their former pay, they regarded it as a partially subsidized vacation. My impression was that, if they were called back, they might not go and their employer either didn't bother to report them or, if he did, the State did nothing.

This deal now, paying people MORE than if they worked, is insanity. And for the next five years, the Democrats will keep bringing up a $600 extra subsidy for the unemployed.

Kentucky's new Democrat governor's phased reopening plan started allowing non essential business to open again but not child care facilities for at least another month at the earliest so I guess that could put many parents with young children in a position to have to choose between not returning to work and forfeiting unemployment benefits and possibly even losing their jobs permanently or staying home caring their kids.

Yep worthless skank sister in law who is 35 and has never worked a 40hr week in her life....actually probably has worked the equivalent amount of hours that equal 1 or 2 months of full time hours her entire life is getting $795/week of "pandemic unemployment". She has received 3 payments so far. Guess here in pa under the pandemic UE the minimum state money one can get is $195 and then the added $600 from the feds. Funny thing is that I know someone who worked with her at the convenience store she worked at for less than a month before the "pandemic" started who told me she quit because she was about to be fired for no shows. When i told them she was getting UE they were pizzed and immediately got on the states website to report UE fraud and reported her. Said the would also advise the store manager to do the same. The majority of the folks I've personally talked to and heard about around here where I live are either still waiting for their first unemployment check or just recently started getting them. Talked to an old friend last week who said it took well over ten hours of her on the phone before finally getting her husband's started. Local small business owner said he got one unemployment check early on and that was all. He said screw'em and forgot about it.
