George Floyd was out of work during coronavirus before he was killed
By Tamar LapinMay 28, 2020 | 6:02pm | Updated

George Floyd had moved to Minneapolis to turn his life around.

The 46-year-old father — who died Monday after a cop kneeled on his neck for several minutes during an arrest — left his Texas hometown in 2014.

“He was looking to start over fresh, a new beginning,” said Christopher Harris, Floyd’s lifelong friend. “He was happy with the change he was making.”

''In 2007, Floyd was charged with armed robbery in a home invasion in Houston, in which another man posed as a water department worker in an attempt to gain access to a woman’s residence, according to court documents.''

When the woman realized he wasn’t actually a water department worker, she tried to close the door. That’s when five other men got out of a car that had just pulled up and forced their way inside.

According to charging documents, the largest man in the group, whom the victim identified as Floyd, “forced his way inside the residence, placed a pistol against the complainant’s abdomen, and forced her into the living room area of the residence.”

Floyd in 2009 was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a plea deal in the case.

Shortly after getting out, he made the move to Minneapolis in hopes of a better life, and landed a gig working security at a Salvation Army store.

He later started working two jobs, one driving trucks and another as a bouncer at the restaurant Conga Latin Bistro, where he was known as “Big Floyd.”

Floyd was laid off amid Minnesota’s coronavirus stay-at-home order, which shuttered bars and restaurants.

“He was doing whatever it takes to maintain going forward with his life,” Harris said.

''''On Monday night, an employee at a Minneapolis grocery store called cops after Floyd allegedly tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.''''

But Harris said he couldn’t believe that his old friend would resort to forgery, saying, “I’ve never known him to do anything like that.”

I agree i don't think a bruva like floyd would try and pass a counterfeit $20 bill , yeah he'd do an armed home invasion - but he was too good a man to try fool around with funny money .
Musician/rapper & a father too .
Who was he driving ''trucks'' for? - maybe Schneiders or another big trucking company . They're always looking for good people .

The court system killed Floyd.

He should have still been in prison for doing a home invasion and threatening a woman with a gun.

Instead they sent him back out into society for the police to have to deal with.

End result,..Minneapolis burns.
He was also a heart attack waiting to happen.
He gone
Sounds like a model citizen. Most likely a democrat.
Floyd was a good man and dinindonuffin ! Racist cops just wanted to murder poor innocent Floyd in the middle of the street in broad daylight while being filmed by a hostile crowd.
The racist police officers murdered this poor gentle christian gentleman who was in great physical shape and led a good clean patriotic christian lifestyle.

Ask 700H on here.
Old habit's are hard to break.............The thought of easy money was to big of a lure.
Don't y'all understand that he was turning his life around?
I was paid once by a Dr, two of the hundreds were counterfeit didn't find out till I was depositing it and the bank told me. The doc made it good, he got them from a patient who paid cash. It's not unusual for somebody to end with a fake bill unknowingly.

If you were black it would have been ok for three cops to sit on your back and neck while you lay cuffed, face down, in the street until you expired of unknown causes. Hell, maybe even longer as, in your case, it was for two supposedly counterfeit $100 bills.
The alphabet news are begging for more riots. Po po bad, orange man bad etc.
Lifes choices have real consequences ................
White cop sounds like a stand up guy too, past complaints and all.

Complaints against a cop who works in Mogadishu west ? Show me one who doesn’t have complaints and you’re pointing out a new hire right out of the academy.

He wasn't in that position because he tried to pass a counterfeit bill, he was there because of what transpired after he attempted to pass the bill.....
I saw an interview tonight on ABC News with a gal who runs a bar there. She said that the cop, and the dead Negro, both worked security at her bar at the same time.
She said the cop was pretty good but sometimes, got a little out of hand, like when "he pepper sprayed the entire bar room for no good reason."

As someone said, any good street cop is going to have complaints lodged against him in this day and age.

ps. The gal's bar room was burned down last night.

ps2. How do you hire a guy for security who has a conviction for a home break in and armed robbery. This guy should have still been in prison in Texas.
He didn’t mean to do all those bad things!

never heard of him........

until all this schidt happened

Agreed, Lots of people made mistakes in the past. Sounds like he may have really been trying to turn it around. It's what he did that day with those cops that will determine what kind of force was justified. From what I saw and what infos available I agree that he was killed unjustly.

The percentage of cops that are sociopaths is pretty high compared to other professions. The way that cop acted looked sociopathic to me. He seemed completely oblivious to the victim and the people around him. Level of force looked unnecessary and seemed more like an intimidation or retribution tactic. Both sociopathic.

If people want to burn their communities down over it I'd say just don't rebuild there. Then they can complain for years about not having good stores in their communities.

Google is your friend Reba on the complainants. You can find it, I’m not going to spoon feed you your mush.

Do tell Reba
The fight is over when the cuffs go on, that cop knelt on George’s neck way too long. I’m not saying for sure that’s what killed him but it did seem a little excessive from the outside looking in. And before any of y’all get your panties in a bunch, I’m sympathetic toward cops. I was one for a while.

Chauvin did it for 17 years.
Floyd did it for about one year and covered about a dozen events.
He worked inside and Chauvin worked outside.
Their employer isn't sure if they ever actually met.

https://newsone.com/3950376/did-fired-cop-derek-chauvin-know-george-floyd/

"According to KSTP.com, Floyd and Derek Chauvin once worked security at the El Nuevo Rodeo club on Lake Street, according to former owner Maya Santamaria. She owned the building for almost two decades then sold the venue over the past two months.

“Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open,” Santamaria said. “They were working together at the same time, it’s just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside.”

Despite the two overlapping with their work schedules on popular music nights within the last year, Santamaria said she can’t say for certain whether they knew each other because there were usually a couple dozen security guards, which included off-duty officers."

He died from underlying health conditions, not asphyxiation or strangulation.
The Tox report hasn't been released so there may be drugs involved also.

https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2020...-floyd-death-minneapolis-police-officer/

Quote
An autopsy report is pending, but the Hennepin County Medical Examiner did release these findings: There were no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation, and that Floyd had underlying health problems, including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease.

According to the medical examiner, “the combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death,” the complaint states

Heart disease is a beotch.
His family is suppose to be contracting the guy who use to be the Chief Medical Officer for the NYPD for doing autopsies...

I'd put stock in what he finds out... but I'll bet it will show he didn't sufficate...

I'd bet it was intoxicants he had in his system....

No way the cops would have known that...and if they had to subdue a large man, of course they are going to have to apply more force and leverage...

Even if the autopsy shows the cop wasn't responsible for Floyd's death, it aint' going to change anything.

That's a rubber baton...its made to not kill you...just hurt like hell.

dumb ass.
Pretty good person? Maybe, but he was passing counterfeit Jacksons
Once again the narrative collapses and it turns out this holy martyr was just another Thug with health problems stemming from his lack of intelligence and his impulsivity.

Keeping the urban vibrancy under control comes at a cost.

Please report for psych eval to have your sense of humor rebooted.
Very likely that Floyd hasn't did much of anything physical in MANY YEARS - when he gets his heart-rate up it's with drugs . Physical exertion only happens when stealing something heavy or running from the cops .

Once the Hood folk get past the ball playing stage in life - it's mostly sitting/laying down or hanging out looking for a crime to commit . That's reality - and it doesn't matter what color a person is .

Most Democrats have one just like it in their nightstand

While everybody else who gets hold of counterfeit money WANTS the police to come and help them figure out who screwed them, Floyd tries to play the race card and get physical with the cops.
Karma is a Bitch.
