Not a Glock fanatic, so I really don't know the details of the Gen changes.
I just want to know if Gen 2 was too early in the improvement timeline to truly handle 10mm.

Thanks all!
It will handle all factory loads just fine.
Thanks.

Any concerns about the Buffalo Bore, et al loads?

Mine left huge bulges on the brass with the factory barrel with anything above a 180 @ 1100fps. I swapped in an after market barrel.
Thanks Bearcat. Thats valuable info.
I had one, I accidentally shot 400 grains of XTPs out the barrel (200x2). Never hurt it.

How did that happen?
Way back when, colder than hell, I went to test some hand loads. I had earplugs and ear muffs on. I guess I loaded it and got distracted by a bitch’n exwife that had just got home.

I shot, nothing happened, racked the slide and fired again. I thought that had a little more recoil than normal. The paper target had two holes in it..... and that’s about it

No.
Just make sure the barrel has a fully supported chamber … Plenty of aftermarket barrels out there for the Glock 20 .
I put a KKM in mine, and have shot a lot of Underwood, and handloaded hard cast.
+1 for KKM barrels, if you are going to put an aftermarket barrel in a Glock....
I have friends who have bought KKM barrels with 100% satisfaction , me personally I have Barsto on my G20 and G21 and fully delighted .
If I'd have to buy something like the KKM barrel to shoot hot 10mm, seems like I'd be better off converting a G21 and having both calibers as an option...

That’s a great option. Only thing different is the barrel and the magazines.
as a slow learner and very poor pistol shot, I have found that a slightly more than book maximum of AA #9 with a 200 grain bullet has not bulged the case with a gen 4 glock 20. If I found a gen 2 for $300, I guess the barrel upgrade would be reasonable, or maybe just buy a new gen 4 gun. I know lone wolf barrels had been unsupported chambers just like the glock barrels, not sure on a kkm.
KKM advertises as "fully supported SAAMI spec. match chambers".

Back in the day before I bought my G20 frame ( green ) ,that is exactly what I did … however , I purchased an entire factory Glock upper with matched factory barrel and slide , not just the barrel & magazine . Bought the Barsto's after the fact … I do like the factory Glock barrels with moderate plated / jacketed loads .
I SURE HOPE SO!! Cause my FIRST GEN has been digesting anything I feed it for almost two decades!!

No Gen1 Glock 20's were made.
They started production with Gen2's.
WHAT YOU TALKIN WILLIS????

Where and why this total fallacy about unsupported chambers REFUSES TO DIE is solely routed in IGNORANCE!!

ALL AUTO CHAMBERS are "looser" for reliability. The brass in the case Inherently within its design, has a web thats much thicker and stronger and withstands pressure limits within design perimeters. When these are exceeded THINGS HAPPEN. But its not the fault of the chamber or the forearm.

I have all three flavors of Glock 10mm... I have two flavors of COLT 10mm... I have multiple KKM, LONE WOLF & aftermarket barrels. I have ahot and tested many dozens of lods for decades and never saw a problem untill I got a Carbine assembly and saw the limitations of a unlocked blow back. Even this and the bulged cases where NOT A FAULT of a "unsupported" chamber. They where a result of pressur curves unfriemdly to the unlocked breech design.
I regularly shoot a worked up handload with a Cast 220 HP and Bluedot at just shy of 1200 from the G29 and 1250 + from the G40 6"!

ZERO NONE NADA BULDGE.

cwlongshot, i also have been searching in vain for bulged cases and smiley faces for some time now. I shoot hard cast lead, XTp's, and AA#9 powder, frankly I am beginning to wonder if the limiting factor with #9 is if you can seat the bullet far enough down to function in a g20? Have you tried 14 grains of AA#9 and a 200?
I can't tell you much about Glock 10mms; but the only Glock that totally disassembled itself in my circle of friends was a brand new G20, in 1991 or 1992. First shot from a new gun. The cartridge was a reload, one of many cranked out by cops who shot pusedo-IPSC at a local gun club. The ammo was immediately blamed until we loaded two mags directly from the box that wrecked the G20 and fired them from a Colt Delta- without incident.

This problem was a lot more prevalent in 40 caliber Glocks, until Glock quietly increased chamber support.

Not a 10, so, whatever.

My neighbor and friend was loading for his early G26.
Being the type of guy he is, he shot up a case of ammo.
Tracked down every dam one of the empties and loaded them all.
Jacketed bullets, book loads.

They all had a smiley.

I was there 2 of the 3 times when a smiley lined up with the chamber excatly
like the first shot.

It would blow the mag out, and sting the heck out of his hands.

Never damaged the gun at all.

He quit using the ammo, what happened to it next was even better but
not important here.
It can be normal to pull the charging handle twice after a beer or two and load one cartridge with a double shot, this is not possible with some powders, I often wonder in regards to the many glock spontaneous disassembles if the problem was a bad reload. How many people have seen first hand a glock disassemble with a factory cartridge? Please raise your hand to be counted.
Well, it seems like good insurance to run a fully supported chamber with the Glocks, if you want to run hot loads.

I'd be looking at $350 for the 21, plus another 250 or so for a KKM barrel and a couple of mags..

Its worth sleeping on.
