I am getting ready to order a G48 on the Blue Label program and have to specify base sights or factory night sights. My question is are the aftermarket sights worth the extra $60? I know a lot of folks on here recommend the aftermarket.

I can go from base to night sights from the factory for about $50. It looks like Tru Glo TFO run about $110 + tax and S&H.

Any other sights I should look at? I noticed a lot of brands don't have a tritium model for the 48.

And on an unrelated note - I picked up my Sig 365 yesterday and absolutely love it. It was worth waiting for (long story).
You can order your Glock with Ameriglo Hackathorn, orange front, night sights already on them. Much better than the Glock brand night sights.
Thanks - the dealer didn't mention that possibility, I guess I'll check back with him.
I like Speed Sights

I could see liking those.
Look at the TFX pro sights. I think everyone has an opinion as to what they like so it’s an individual thing. These will be my next but just my opinion
Another vote for the Hackathorn sights, put them on my G43, love them.

This!
Plenty of good Glock sights out there. I like Trijicon HDs, but I've used lots of Ameriglo options and I've won a couple of IDPA matches with Glock factory night sights.

The biggest issue for me is POI for elevation is often nowhere near POA with Glock factory sights. I've had them be off as much as 6" at 25 yards. I typically get a new Glock with the factory plastic sights, shoot it until I find the load it shoots best, then identify the POI, THEN buy night sights of the proper height.

Great point Okie. I'm buying two G48s for car guns and will try to order them with the Hackathorns. If I can't get them like that then I'll go with the basic sights and then pick a load and change out to night sights.
I have the Hackathorn sights on my G41. Love them on that gun and I shoot it well with them.

Have the Trijicon HD sights on my G19 and G17 and those work well on those guns.

Yep, I have the HDs on a couple of my Glocks, and like them about as well as the Hackathorns.

I know the guy who designed the Trijicon HD sights and tried them, but ended up going back to the standard Trijicons. I didn't care for the deeper, U shaped rear, but to each his own.

These are visible at night, line themselves up. I can shoot well with my old eyes. Wifey has these on her 9mm. She shoots better than me.

I personally like that U-shaped rear a lot.

Yep. About even for me, too.
I like Ameriglo 3 dot sights on mine. 2 green rear and orange front.

I chose the Glock factory night sights because of the price. The Ameriglo you can get factory-installed from Glock are much brighter, plus there are tons of "better" after-market options as well.

Having said all that, IMHO the Glock factory night sights are good enough. Mine are really not bright at all until the light gets REALLY low. When the light does get that low, those sighs are highly visible. For the other 99% of the time, I think most any sight will work. I grew up shooting with a black U in the back and black blade up front. To me, those work just fine for that 99% of the time. So the fact that my particular Glock brand night sights are kind of a dim grey in good light is fine with me. I can still hit with the gun. When it gets so dark that all black sights won't work, the Glock sights light up enough for me.
I traded for my G43 w/ factory night sights and am happy w/ them. If I miss a 6" target at 25 yards the fault is mine not the gun/sights. They work just as well as for a sub 2.5 seconds bill drill at 7 yards.

I prefer the hackethorn as a combat situation requires no rear sight....and a precision situation requires no distraction. The hackethorn checks all the boxes.
I prefer night sights and the fact that they are metal instead of plastic also makes me happier.
When a new batch of G22s and 23s came in I would take ten of them to the PD range. I ran a mag of duty ammo through each fast and finished with 5 rounds from 25 yards, wrists rested on a bag and holding six-o clock on a post-it note on the head of a B27. These pistols were ordered with OEM night sights and when we replaced them, duty ammo was 165 or 180 grain Federal HST. An Obama-induced ammo famine resulted in the two bullet weights.

Windage was always good and never entirely off either edge of the post-it note. 180's invariably printed above it, with a shot or two cutting the top edge and 165s more or less on it. I kept notes on this by serial number, to simplify POA/POI issues if they came up at qualifications.

None of what I learned in these sessions surprised me. 40/45 Glocks have generally shot 4-6 inches high for me at 25 yards with 180/230 grain bullets. The 17s/19s I've shot were better with 115s, again no surprise because they use the same sights.

I'm currently setting up an old Gen2 G22 as a beater farm, woods and carry gun. It'll be used with 180 grain defensive loads and same weight Speer Lawman or full boat 180 grain SWC reloads. This one will require a 0.180:" front sight to zero with standard 6.5mm/0.256" rear sights. I like the Ameriglo Classic front night sight with a white outline (GL112180) and have one on the way.
Sarge, is there a standardized bullet for each model of Glock.. I think my old 21 hit the best with 230’s for me anyway.

My G35 with a 9mm barrel seems to hit best with 147’s. That gun has after market sights on it, fiber optics.

That’s the trouble with ammunition shortages..... a guy finds a good load and it disappears.
What you like in pistol sights is based off of experience and vision. If a pistol has a dedicated white light, I like a thin fiber front with a plain black rear. If a light is not an option, a black wide rear sight with a orange/tritium front like theHD or Ameriglo. The black rear sight seems to push my eyes to he front sight a little faster. My biggest issue is that sights are fuzzy at this point

I don't recall anything definitive about that from three cycles of Armorer school, but after you've been to one they sotra put me to sleep wink My opinion is Glock 'aimed' for standardization with the most common bullet weights for each caliber, but various loads of the same bullet weight can shoot to different POI. This becomes noticeable at 25-50 yards and real apparent shooting at 100 yard plates. It is probably irrelevant to the defensive shooter but I've clobbered several 75-125 yard coyotes and groundhogs with whatever plastic pistol I was packing around the farm. I'll admit to being a little OCD about zero, If I miss something I want to know it was me and not the gun.
On line TLR-6 is <$100.
Tough decision amigos. A light plus laser vs couple pieces of metal with glowy inserts. crazy Why do they call these things night sights? Is it because when they are new and guns lays in certain position relative to you it can be located in a dark room? confused

That’s my favorite setup. Green rear with an orange front. I have a Glock with the Glock branded night sites they get the job done but aren’t anything great. The best factory pistol sites that I’ve seen by far are the FNX 45 Tactical sites.
